old world charm at its truest, full of nostalgia and authentic charm, its like stepping back in time.
Colin himself is so warm an friendly , sure the front room is full of road noise but i could look past that. The cafe onsite also served a great breakfast . Will definately stay here again.
Zero sound proof, you will hear everything on the road. Luckily the road is not so busy, no tourist trishaw. So, by 10pm you can have some peace.

Colin was friendly and helpful - he assisted me to pay the parking fee online. His wife serves delicious breakfast with coffee - love the Nyonya laksa! Aunthentic vibes and experience living in a peranakan heritage house. Besides Colin's Cafe, there's also great food places within walking distance. Not as congested like the Jonker's area yet it's within 10mins walk to Jonker's. Roadside parking is available (white boxes) & I didn't encounter any difficulty in looking for parking spots.
The water pressure is low (wash basin & shower). The windows: It'll be nice if there's glass-screen on the windows so that I could enjoy viewing the outdoors (backyard) while ensuring the air-condition is contained in the room & insects doesn't fly into the room.

I love the baba nyonya architecture, brings me back to 1900s. Host is friendly and informative. Love the spacious bedroom and the tranquility at night. Very safe to walk back alone from Jonker Street. Will be a good family gathering to book all 3 rooms. Food is delicious.
Previous guests need to play their part for a better living experience for next guests.

The place is located at town, very near to Jonker street. Owner is helpful and friendly. Parking is just outside of the cafe. Mr Colin helped me to pay parking online but didn’t want to take my money.
Shower heater have a loud noise when switched on. Water flow is not strong and big enough.
Suggest to have a floor mat outside of the bathroom and small dustbin in the room.

It was a last minute trip and we managed to stay at this place since no receptionist to welcome us. Mr Colin is a friendly owner. He checked our arrival time for him to make arrangement because the cafe will close at 3pm. FYI the entrance is the same place to the cafe so you're responsible to ensure the door is always close after 3pm. Only us at that night but no a big deal. I would say it's a value for money. Highly recommended if you looking to stay at historical building in Melaka.
Nothing much to comment compared to the price.

Experience of staying in a pre-war shophouse, rather than the usual hotel. Friendly & helpful host. Clean room, nicely decorated. Public parking available along front of premise. Walking distance to Jonker Street. Cafe on ground floor (opens till afternoon, closed on Sunday) serves good Nyonya Laksa and sells great homemade pineapple jam tarts. Friendly resident cat.
To provide mug & spoon to make coffee/tea. Supply of complimentary coffee & tea to be placed in room.

Our room was lovely, big and comfortable. The owner was incredibly nice and helpful, eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible and assisting us when we had to check in late and check out late as well. Brilliant stay and completely worth the money.

I had a very lovely two-night stay at Colin's place! The place is spotlessly clean and has beautiful atmosphere and decor. The host was very friendly and easy-going and truly made one feel welcome. On top of all, this place also serves amazing food!

I love the place, it is unique and feels like you own your own house. The owner also very mindful, he gave an instruction on how to enter his property during the dawn so it was pretty helpful and told me where to visit during my stay.
I visited during the holiday so it was quite quiet

Responsive and very kind owner. Strategic location. Comfortable and cosy room.
Noisy due to the busy main street just outside the room.

The old world charm interiors and spaciousness.
The bathroom/wc does not have a proper door for privacy or smell containment. Though there is a charming victorian long bath, shifting it to one side and creating a simple standing shower will be more practical esp for older folks.
No black out curtains

Nothing...the place was quaint and rustic but the host was uncommunicative. We felt isolated with no proper hospitality. The shower was not functioning at all whereby the owner asked to wait for the water pressure to be OK. Since 6pm we waited, went out for dinner, came back to shower and yet still the water pressure NIL. Called Mr. Colin around 10pm he did not answer only at 6.00am on the next day. My partner and me was furious and uncomfortable since we did not shower...and had to use the bathroom bidet to shower. This is unacceptable. This place should be looked upon by any regulated bodies regarding this unacceptable bad hospitality service. Will never recommend or step into this place.
Nothing. This place should not be operating in Unesco World Heritage zone. A big let down.

We loved the heritage house, lovely open space on the ground floor. The food is the best part of the place though, everything we ate was amazing and tasted home made. The rooms are basic but good value for money, would stay here again.
