Pros: Wonderful location. Perfect for kids and paddle boarding or kayaking. Comfortable beds and well stocked kitchen. Bring scooters and bikes because the road is made for pedestrians. Felt really safe for the little one. Great front deck for hanging out and dining. Perfect firepit for s'mores.
Cons: dried flower arrangements and nicknacks everywhere and the associated dust, so bring allergy medicine if you have a dust allergy. It's an older, somewhat outdated house so if you're expecting luxury, look elsewhere. Number one con is having to pack out all garage because there is no garbage pickup. We had a truck so not a big deal but would be different if you were driving a compact car. Also neighbors are generally friendly but there are a few sticks in the mud who yelled at us for walking on their part of the beach, which is annoying but par for the course in WA state where beaches can be privately owned.

We had a perfect weekend in this property. The highlight were the large living room windows looking straight out over the water.
The beach access was very convenient, directly out the front door and over a small ramp to get to the other side of the driftwood.
The house was very clean, the beds were comfortable, we had no issues at all.

We had a lovely time, the kitchen was well stocked, the beach was empty, we relaxed on the porch with coffee in the morning and watched my granddaughter play on the beach and swim all day!

We really enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Shores. The house was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked with all the amenities we needed. I would recommend this property to anyone looking to enjoy the wonders of great Pacific Northwest! We hiked at both of the preserves located a short drive away. Can’t wait to go back

As the family host and previous VRBO owner, it was surprising to learn No Amenities were provided-soap, bath wash or shampoo. Coffee maker was old and hidden away. And guests are required to lug away their own garbage, strip beds and put away all clean dishes. This should be covered by housekeeping fee.

We loved staying at Driftwood Shores - just the coziest beach house to relax and watch the waves and wildlife. The king bed was so comfy, the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed. Reliable internet and cable TV. It's also a great property to have dogs - the back yard was well secured and fenced and our pups were so into the ducks and all the waterfowl bobbing in the water in the back bay. We will definitely rent again - can't wait to come back.

We have stayed in this home twice now and love it. The view is so peaceful and the yard is fenced so our dog can enjoy his vacation too.

An incredible place to enjoy Puget Sound. Beautiful beach and mountain views.

This was my second time renting this home. Quiet, clean, awesome views, everything you will need to entertain your guests has been provided for. The hosts Sue and Dennis are quick to respond to emails and phone calls, thank you. My sister enjoyed her stay that she reserved this house for next month. Driftwood Shores was a place my sister and I got to spend our summers at as kids, some 60 years ago. Always hold a special place in our hearts.

We had a great stay at the property. It was very clean and the best stocked kitchen we have experienced in a VBRO property. We generally bring some essentials with us. None were needed. It was really nice and quiet. Great location! Great views! We will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. Located on a very quiet strip of beach with a beautiful view of the water. Has a front deck with a BBQ that overlooks the water, and gravel backyard that’s fully fenced with another BBQ and picnic tables. The furniture and master bed were comfortable and kitchen is stocked with cooking supplies. Perfect sized house for a small family or group of friends. Our dogs loved it too!

Need to relax? This is the place. Would I go back? You betcha! The coming and going of the tides (sometimes sending logs and driftwood going out to sea at a fast pace, other times just revealing itself by the easy passing of water ...), is soothing. The house is perfectly positioned to watch varyied water action on each side of the house. It is very well equipped for cooking. It's a great place for paddle boating or kayaking. I expect it would be pleasant swimming at high tide (you will want water shoes to protect feet as you walk over a bed of barnacled sea shells), and is good for walking at low tide. Plenty of outdoor seating. Quiet neighborhood with friendly folks going by from time to time. We had zero reason to contact the owners, once there, but they were quick to respond to questions, prior to our arrival. There were minor cleaning issues (kitchen floor; dishwasher not run) but absolutely nothing critical, and I suspect these were glitches and not the usual, as the rest of the house was perfect. The spit/road is aptly named "Driftwood Shores." Grocery store is within five minutes, if needed. In general, it's a sleep 'island'. But don't miss Matzke Fine Art and Design gallery and walking sculpture garden: the lovely walk through beautifully groomed woods is worth it.

Very nice property.

I wish I would have read the all the reviews before going. While it was nice to be able to bring our dogs, the "fully fenced yard" doesn't include the front of the house as there is a road running down the middle of the property which is not shown in the photos or mentioned in details. Dogs are allowed in fenced area which is in the back only, on gravel. This was disappointing as we viewed property thinking the dogs could be in front running free as well. Our dogs had to be leashed at all times while out front. Although neighbors dog was not leashed.
The back of the house butts up to the mud flats which do have an odor when the tide is out. Also, the code to get your key to unlock the house has been the same code for a very long time and is not changed between visitors. Check out routine of stripping the beds and hauling our own garbage to avoid a fine was a first for us as well.

Our week long stay ended far too soon. Driftwood Shores is one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have stayed. A king suite is sometimes hard to find in vacation rentals and this suite was large and very comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked. We used one of the two fire pits and soaked up the warm weather and the view with every breath. Neighbors were very friendly and helpful. Our Granddogs were so happy playing at the beach and in the water fetching sticks. Our plans are to go back at Thanksgiving for a holiday getaway.

Property and house were all that was advertised. Setting was very picturesque, we watched 15 or so bald and golden eagles playing on the beach at low tide in a beautiful bay. Even on 4th of July weekend, with the nearby houses seemingly full of people, it was quiet and peaceful. The house had a fully stocked kitchen, and the quality of dishes and glasses was much nicer than usual in a rental. I would definitely rent it again.

Our return visit was great. The property is as advertised and owner is easy to work with. Lucked out on great weather again.
Spotted ~ 6 bald eagles and 7 grey herons feeding during low tides both days. Will continue to return.

We chose this over a hotel to stay in for my cousins funeral. They are pet friendly, have a gated backyard and the views were amazing. The kids enjoyed walking over the driftwood to get to the beach and found all sorts of shells. Despite the reason for our visit, it was much easier and nicer than the average hotel stay. The house was easy to navigate, was clean and felt like we were at home.

My dog and I had the best time! The location is amazing. We just walked about 20 steps to the beach, which is perfect for walking my dog, watching for wildlife and enjoying the wonderful view (also fabulous from inside the home, as well). Very peaceful and quiet with nice neighbors.
The home was very clean when I arrived and is furnished very comfortably with a nice "beach decor". The kitchen is one of the most completely equipped as any kitchen I've seen. Everything you could need and more is there, including very good quality cookware.
I will definitely stay there again.

This was our second -- but not last! -- stay in this cheery, cozy home. The water views from the living room and bedrooms are stunning, even on a gray day. The neighborhood is quiet and lovely. The beach is fun to explore, and there's a large deck and grill. And best of all, we get to share the fun with our doggy, who loves it as much as we do!

Comfortable, cozy, dog friendly home on the beach in a lovely, quiet neighborhood. We found numerous parks/hikes in the area as well as great local breweries and restaurants. Awesome fire pit looking out over the beach and fireplace indoors. Highly recommended!

We booked this property to visit friends on the island. It had a beautiful view and was quiet. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed. We were disappointed with some things. The smell as we entered the home was overpowering, heavy perfume smell which was all over the bedding as well making sleeping difficult. It was hard to eliminate even with doors, etc. opened. For people with allergies this is not pleasant. As others have mentioned, the furniture is very dated and didn't feel clean. The odor from outside was strong, others mentioned the septic and we agree that we noticed the lid had about a 3-4 inch opening and this is located in the back by the bedrooms. We always pick up after ourselves but did feel the request to strip the beds, remove garbage, etc. was excessive and not the norm from other properties we have stayed at. The kitchen had food and dust on appliances, counters, etc. Not sure what the cleaning fee covers other than changing sheets on the beds and vacuuming and over spraying with the heavy perfume odor.

Views from this location are fantastic and the house is cozy and has everything you need to relax! Super clean and lovely. We'd definitely stay here again. One note: there are a lot of glade plug ins that made the house smell really strongly of, well, those kinds of fake scents. We went around and unplugged and things improved after a day, but please note if you have a smell/headache sensitivity. Also, there is no trash pick up, so trash has to be taken with you about a mile down the road and there is an $11 fee for drop off. This part was annoying but manageable; however, the line at the drop off was 30+ minutes long and made getting out of town with kids in the car a bit of a struggle. As I said, wonderful spot and would absolutely stay again—these two little issues were minor but helpful to know in advance.
