Excellent 5 star experience!
My visit at the Cottage was one of the best trips I've taken yet. My kids had so much fun in the house, the house is large enough for you to literally get away from the world its self. We all got to sit outside and listen to the crickets at night in the peaceful neighborhood. Beautiful lake and easy access to hiking trails. If you're looking for a get away the Cottage sure is the way to go! The owner will do his best to accommodate any of your wants and needs promptly! We will be back to visit the Cottage through out the years!

Pros: location was great- easy access to Nashville and all it offers. It's down the street from a state park trail head and down the street from the lake. Close to shopping and restaurants while still out of town and quieter than being in the city. Cons: the property is large but old style country home with lots of walls and doors. good if you need to break up space for different people but terrible if you're trying to have four people hang out in front of the tv. The kitchen was quite small as were the showers but the bedrooms were a nice size. Biggest issue was the cleanliness and the pests. There was dust and cobwebs throughout the house when we arrived. We saw multiple roaches and dozens of spiders inside the house as well as a mouse in the bedroom. Everyone ended up with bites from various pests over the stay. The worst part was the owner and how he responded to the concerns about pests, he basically called me a liar and said that the house was sealed tight and if there were any pests that it was because we were leaving the doors open. He changed his mind repeatedly about whether he was going to give us a refund, do pest spraying, not do pest spraying etc. He eventually came down and brought a spray but did things like start a burn pile in the yard while we were there and left his injured dog loose in the backyard knowing that we had 3 dogs of our own without even asking us about it. In the end we ended up leaving early because we could not take the issues anymore.

We rented this house for our family vacation. The location is great-about 30 minutes to Nashville, bordering a state park, and a short walk to nice hiking trails. We had plenty of room to spread out, each of us enjoyed a private bedroom, and my teenage son loved his "bachelor's quarters" upstairs. While not new or fancy, the furnishings were comfortable, and our dog was welcome. There are two trailers on the property that detract from its appearance, and the stove wasn't working during our stay, but overall I would recommend this property as nice basecamp for a vacation including hiking, boating, and seeing the sights of Nashville.
