We cut our stay 6 days short at this property after 24 hours and moved to another location. The property is dirty. Sleeping pillows have stains all over them. Take the cases off and check. Sleeping blankets were dirty and stained. Bathroom sink backflows with dirty water when other water sources are on. The location is great, and that is why I am guessing this has so many high-star reviews. I contacted the owner to address some items and our desire to leave early. He was very rude and dismissive of the issues and told me I was being unreasonable (that the pillows and blankets were stained and dirty - many pillows didn't even have pillowcases). Open outlets not covered in the kids room with exposed wires, entire place needs a deep cleaning. You can tell this has been rented hard. If you are just going for a "cheap" place to stay this is a good fit for you. If you want something of some level of quality. Look elsewhere. I have never shorted a vacation rental stay ever and I am in the hospitality/vacation rental business - I am not leaving an unjust review on this. Trying to save another family from needing to find new accommodations. If you book this location, ask the owner if he has replaced pillows, washed comforters, blankets, etc.

This vintage beach cottage is located one block from several restaurants and three blocks from the beach. It has parking which is a plus in this area. It is very clean and has everything you need. The owner is very responsive.

House was very conveniently located for walking to the beach and/or restaurants for dining out. Indoor and outdoor space was neat and clean. appreciated the hose out front for extra rinsing off of sandy children after a day at the beach. Kitchen was stocked with all basic essentials. Plenty of towels. we appreciated the beach wagon and buggie boards as well. in home washer and dryer was also essential for a week long stay. my only recommendatiosn would be to add a bath mat to the bathroom and maybe a swifter to the cleaning closet. as neat as we try to be, kids sometimes just accumulate crumbs. would/will definitely stay again

This property is in a safe neighborhood, close to shopping, dining, and the beach. The beds are comfortable, the property had all the supplies we needed, and we enjoyed the private patio. Our vehicle didn't fit in the garage (FJ Cruiser with surfboards loaded on top) and the driveway was too narrow for parking without blocking garage access for the other side of the duplex, but we had no problem finding parking on the street. Definitely would recommend this property, and we'll keep it in mind for future stays!

What we appreciated most was being so close to the bustling restaurant area and the beach, yet the property was so so peaceful. There is a private rear deck/ patio with really tall shrubs on on one side, and seating. We ate our breakfast there most mornings ( take out from Brick and Bell) and watched hummingbirds, and our daughter worked on her laptop in the private front yard ( while connected to the house wifi). We had never been to San Diego before and after we got here and explored La Jolla vs LaJolla Shores, I was so happy we ended up in La Jolla Shores. This was a great home base for day trips. Also, if you planning to go on a kayak tour, you cannot beat this location.
The owner was very responsive to my questions and we hope to return some day.

The location of this comfortable home allows for quick access to many wonderful attractions and activities. The kitchen was amply supplied, though we only had easy breakfast and packed snacks for the day. Wonderful dinners and treats were available within walking or a five minute car ride. The home is in a quiet, and safe location.

This was a perfect location for our family to spend a weekend at La Jolla Shores. Quick 5 minute walk to the beach, shops, restaurants etc. John the owner was super responsive and helpful, easy driving directions and check in. Will definitely stay here again!

This wonderful cottage style property is in an excellent location in La Jolla near the beach and restaurants. The home is very private with a beautiful outdoor area and spacious indoor living space. The host was very accommodating and responded to our questions quickly. Would definitely consider staying here again.

The property is super cute and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. My husband and I and our two kids 11 and 12 stayed and it was perfect. The location could not be better!!!! The host is responsive and answered all of my annoying questions quickly.

Ok for a couple
Nice location, parking is a little tough as my vehicle would not fit in the garage or driveway since it was shared. Only one small bath so for four people it was not optimal but for a couple it would have been ok. .

Location Sells
I don’t usually write reviews but I will for this one because I would want to know what I know now. This unit has a fantastic location and the added bonus of a parking space. The unit is well supplied in the kitchen and the bathroom, but there is a need for some upgrades considering the rate. The TV is not a Smart TV and it did not work when we got there, and it took a considerable amount of time for us to figure out ourselves how to take care of the problem. The owner was not much help with that. We also had problems with the Wi-Fi connection and in fact on our last morning there, we had NO connection, which was a hardship because we were trying to make travel arrangements. The sofa and bed mattresses were soft and need upgrading. Overall, it’s a good place to stay if you want to enjoy the beach life with no technology, and don’t care about communication with the outside world or physical comfort. I wouldn’t have bothered writing a review, but when I politely attempted to negotiate a slight discount on a future reservation there, mentioning these issues on this trip, the owner cancelled my preexisting reservation. I was shocked. I have been a model renter on VRBO and the other for many years and have never had this kind of nasty treatment.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this cottage. The outside spaces were incredibly relaxing and private and the location to restaurants and the beach was perfect. It is so private that we missed the house when we first arrived as it is hidden behind a large hedge. The kitchen is well stocked but we didn’t use it much because of the restaurants close by. Wanted to try them all but need to stay longer next time! Hope to stay here again. It was lovely.

Super close to La Jolla Shores, just a short walk to the beach (which is safe and clean) and all the nearby shops and easy driving distance to a lot of places to eat and shop. It was really nice to have garage access although it’s a tight for a larger SUV (John was nice enough to take measurements ahead of time). The privacy hedges around the house are key. The place is a bit worn, especially being more of a beach house, but maintained generally well. We enjoyed the stay and would recommend this rental.

Peaceful place
Had another nice visit. Location is quiet and was very restful. House was spotless and had everything we needed for a 4 day stay. John is quick to respond to questions. we will be back.

We had a great stay in this place. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. The room with the twin beds was perfect for them. The family room was comfortable for all of us to hang out in. Walking distance to the beach and great restaurants! We especially appreciated the shared garage and patio areas as my husband travels with 2 kayaks.....everywhere we go! 🤦♀️
