Located at MP 6 3/4, Parrot's Perch is 'between the highways' this SAT-SAT cottage is great for a couple, small family, or groups wanting to keep additional family & friends close by. Our home, although in the tradition of the Old Nags Head style, is totally remodeled & up to date. This property is fresh, clean & modern on the inside... and out Parrot's Perch sits on a quiet pond. It's a great place to sit & relax on the Deck to watch the geese, ducks & turtles. The kitchen is fully equipped, right down to plenty of coffee mugs & wine glasses. Also available is an iron/board, hair dryer & towels are provided at no charge, basic amenities such as soap, paper products & trash bags supplied upon arrival. Bring your own sheets. Comfortable seating in Living area for a family of 6. The deck overlooking the pond is a great place to get a tan mid-day and cookout in the evening. Enjoy the front porch for coffee & breakfast in the morning & is a great place to sit & chat in the evenings. We provide a grill and clothes line for our guest's convenience. The house is located on the ground level so it has easy access for those who need fewer steps. Restaurants, shopping & movie theaters are with within walking distance. It's quick drive to the historic Wright Brothers Memorial, golf, putt-putt, sound access for water sports, Avalon Pier, Dare County Parks & Rec for basketball courts, tennis & playground. The YMCA for an ADDITIONAL FEE, offers a weekly membership at their facilities including an outdoor pool & more (contact the Y for details).

My family really enjoyed our time here! The inside is cozy, and had everything we needed for a family of four (with two younger kids) to feel comfortable.
Outside, we really enjoyed sitting on the patio to enjoy the pond and cool sea breeze. The turtles were a lot of fun, and after spending each day at the beach the outside shower was indispensable.
Overall, it was a great place for our first OBX vacation.

This house is beyond cute and so lovely. The host is so very generous with amenities, there is coffee and other cooking supplies. I am amazed at the cleanliness and overall decor, it’s so cozy. The fenced in backyard is perfect for dogs or kids (and adults too). The grass is so well kept you can walk around barefoot. There are lovely flowers all around the property. It’s close to the beach and just about anything else you may need, including restaurants and ice cream. This is the second year we have stayed here and we hope to book it again next year. I highly recommend this lovely house.

We honestly have nothing bad to say about Parrots Perch. From the moment we walked in we did not want to leave. The cottage is so warm and welcoming. Tastefully decorated and well stocked with items you may have forgot. Very short walk to the beach and so convenient to stores and restaurants. The real allure is the turtles and other wildlife. As soon as someone walks out on the deck the turtles come swimming, looking for food. The outdoor space is as pleasing as the inside. Our Dachshund absolutely had a blast. Pretty sure he had the best vacation ever. Truly a slice of paradise. So blessed to have had the opportunity to spend a week at this gem. Thanks for sharing!!!

From the moment we stepped into the house, we were relaxed and ready for our vacation. The house was sparkling clean and tastefully decorated, with much care given to special details that gave us an immediate beach vibe. Our family loved feeding the turtles and enjoyed relaxing on the front porch and back deck. We looked forward to unwinding at the house after a day at the beach, which was a short walk away.
Our dog loved running around the spacious and fenced backyard. The house was centrally located to restaurants, grocery stores, and the beach. We will definitely stay here again when we return to OBX.

We absolutely loved our stay. The place was very clean and well stocked with anything you might need. We brought our dogs and the place is very dog friendly with the fenced in backyard and the gates in the deck. The grass in the backyard is plush and nice. We enjoyed the turtles coming up to the deck every time we came outside. The house is close to the beach and most everything else too. I would highly recommend staying here and we hope to stay here again!

Delightful cottage
We loved our stay! The home is much bigger than it appears from the outside and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The added bonus of the outdoor porch and swing and feeding the turtles was a delight. Took about 5 minutes to walk to the beach. It felt like being at home instead of a staged vacation home and that's exactly what we love. Only negative was not having beach chairs available - we ended up buying one. But overall, it was wonderful and we would love to return!

Ideal rental!
This was the most perfect rental for our family! We enjoyed watching and feeding the turtles in the backyard pond from the GORGEOUS deck every morning. The yard was perfect for our dog to run and play and catch frisbee while we relaxed on the swing with afternoon drinks and watched the wildlife. The house was clean, comfortable, well-stocked, and beautifully decorated. We had everything we needed and communication with the host was perfect! The location is right next to our favorite beach access and an easy walk to the Jolly Roger for breakfast! We loved this house so much we hope we never have to stay anywhere else when visiting our favorite place in the world! Thank you for an amazing week!

Nice little cottage setting over a pond full of turtles, close to beach access!
The family loved the house, the deck on the side of the house setting over a pond completely full of aquatic turtles, and the outside shower was very nice. Great location just over 1 block from the 3rd St. beach access. Only problem of the trip was being blind sided by our 3rd St beach access being shut down for 3 days of our trip because of the beach nourishment. The beach was off limits from Avalon pier down past 1st St. (Sections of the beach veried daily). The main reason for getting this house was being close to a beach access and not having to drive/fight all of the traffic!! The drive to the public parking access was very inconvenient, to say the least!! All in all we had a great time and the house was nice!!

Lovely and dog heaven
Not obvious, but the location on an estuary, with a coveted deck over the water, was delightful. Sea turtles, and wide range of coastal birds offered a constant demonstration of the costal marsh ecosystem . Our small dogs loved the beautiful, well kept yard. A great stay, recommended to all, but especially anyone traveling with a furry companion. Everything was easy, and in good order, as a vacation should be. Thanks!
P.S. you bring your own sheets, and some highway noise, but neither an issue for us.

Only downside is that house is close to the main road. U can hear traffic at night. We are from country. I couldn’t sleep well for the first night. Also make sure u bring a spray for the mosquitoes. They are big & angry at night. Be prepared to walk to the beach. There is no good sidewalk. Cars passing by made me nervous walking with the kids.

If we go back to the Outerbanks we will want to stay at OLD NAGS HEAD COTTAGE.
The house was great and it was near the beach. The turtles were a lot of fun and the breeze on the patio was perfect.
The only thing to be aware of is that it is near a very busy road and you can hear the traffic at times - we brought a sound machine and that helped significantly.
Outside of that - the house was amazing and exceptionally clean.

The house was great and it was near the beach. The turtles were a lot of fun and the breeze on the patio was perfect.

Outdoor space is awesome with deck and swing. Plus front porch which was perfect for reading on the rainy days. One level only made life great for my three-legged cancer survivor pup! Cooked entire week - grill is great and kitchen small but works! Bathrooms very clean. You need to bring laundry detergent bc you have to wash the towels before you leave. And bring dishwasher pods because you have to run it before you leave. Neither are provided. Bring buy spray because deck is over a pond and the skeeters will bite. No ESPN for sports junkies that like to check in. Will rent again if the pup hangs on.

Comfy, Short Walk to the Beach, and Turtles!
The turtles in the pond definitely made the house even better. We fed them everyday; fun for our sun and the adults. The house is very cute and the outside shower helped since there is only 1 shower in the house. The road is definitely noticeable from inside and outside of the house, but it didn't bother us too much. Easy walk to the beach

Lovely space inside and out
The front porch and back deck and the good sized backyard make this a very comfortable place for a group (there were 4 adults and one child in our group). So, even though the house is small there are places to have privacy. The pond and turtles are lovely, and we were visited daily by a heron and white egret. It's a short walk to the beach, and we were not bothered by the house being so close to the busy main road (158) because there was the private back yard and pond. No negatives at all!

An amazing, clean house with fenced in yard and great location!
We couldn’t have asked for a better week! The house was incredibly clean and in a perfect location just a couple blocks from the beach! There is also a couple grocery stores and mini golf less than a mile away. Huge fenced in back yard and a deck overlooking a pond with tons of turtles who loved to be fed every day! We had a blast and would rent a week here again!

OBX Perfection
Parrots Perch proved perfect for our small family of four and trio of terriers!! Thank you so much for accommodating us! It was clean, comfy, and adorable! We found everything we needed and clearly there was a lot of thought put into setting this lovely vacation home up! Our favorites included the turtles, outdoor shower, fenced yard, and back patio overlooking the water. We would love to return again! It was especially nice to escape the Covid-craze and relax on the beach. Thank you for sharing.

Nice Little house
Small House. A little close to Rte 158 so you can hear traffic. Nice deck over pond though the pond was full of algae. Backyard is large and fenced in and well maintained. it is as advertised short walk to the beach. We had beautiful weather and enjoyed our stay

Enjoyed the stay. The cottage was located within an easy distance from the beach. Nice fenced in back yard and outside deck. Inside accommodations were good. Plenty of room for 4.
A wider channel selection on the television would be a plus but we would stay there again.

Parrots Perch is Perfect
the place is spotless and full of detail. great yard for the dog and the porch is a great spot to relax. central location. awesome restaraunts all around. we did a lot of traveling from Corrola to Frisco and this was a perfect middle point to travel from. Absolutely would go back.

Wonderful week!
We had a GREAT stay at Parrot’s Perch. Clean, lovely home that is exactly as the listing describes. Mike and Debbie have thought of everything to make your stay very comfortable. Theresa is just a call or text away to help you with any questions too! We enjoyed feeding the turtles off the “perch” and our pup loved running around the fenced in yard. We won’t hesitate a return stay or to recommend Parrot’s Perch to anyone interested in visiting the Outer Banks!

Perfect for little family
Fantastic property and all the reviews accurately capture what a wonderful place this is. If you have small children this place is perfect with the side deck and fenced in backyard. Turtles in the pond were a huge hit! Would absolutely come back again.
