Refreshing! Think of ocean smells, salt air and the sound of the surf DIRECTLY below... It is instantly calming and somehow energizing at the same time. An immediate sense of relief and healing will come over you... Sea Spirit is a 600-sq foot cottage superbly located on top of a dramatic cliff with sweeping ocean views and great breezes. Your privacy is ensured by National Park surroundings. It has some of the best hush-hush snorkeling at the front of the house that exists on island... caves, live reefs and ultramarine blue drop offs with rays and dolphins. There is a resident spotted eagle ray at the front of the house. From its unique location you can walk to 2 pristine beaches. Kiddle Bay is very Maine-like with large flat stones that crackle at night, becoming sandy on one side. The other is Grootpan Bay and tends to be empty. If there is ever anyone there, it tends to be a nude beach. It is a mix of sand, small pebbles and coral. Both bays offer awesome snorkeling. A short drive takes you to either Salt Pond Beach or the Lameshuur bays. Your constant companions are the umbrella of stars at night, the smell of salt air and the sounds of the wind and the waves and the occasional deer grazing in the yard. The restaurants and shopping amenities of Coral Bay are only minutes away, though you might prefer enjoying the deck. It won’t be long before your biggest worry is opting for sunset drinks at Sea Spirit or at one of the local eateries, stargazing or enjoying the musical scene in Coral Bay. What’s no dilemma is our rates, we challenge anybody to procure such an experience as Sea Spirit for the price. Such a well-appointed cottage in such a one-of-a-kind location simply can’t be compared to any other St John house. Should you go for the Sea Spirit experience, you have to be warned: you’ll be back! What a wonderful little piece of heaven! My husband and I spent the perfect week at Sea Spirit. We are normally very active people but something about sitting on the deck overlooking the ocean brought a whole new level of relaxation for us:).

Pictures don't do this home justice. Gorgeous views, spent mornings and some evenings watching the day go by on the wrap around balcony. Inside had everything we needed. Great support from hosts beforehand made this trip a breeze. Would love to return!

We have spent 11 weeks total on St. John since 2019 and this was the first time we have enjoyed two vacations on the island (1st in June/July 2023) and vacationed here again in December/January. During our previous St. John summer vacations, we have stayed in Johns Folly, Coral Bay, Chocolate Hole, Fish Bay, Privateer Bay/East End & Bordeaux Mountain, all with amazing views of the Caribbean Sea. However, open the bi-fold, shuttered doors of this house and the views from the porch are of NOTHING but the Sea except a little of the island on both sides. It is TRULY THE BEST view of any place we have ever stayed!! The owner, Terry, is wonderful!! She is very responsive, offers advice & recommendations & even called us shortly before our departure just to check in with us. The house is just as described in the listing. Great water pressure in the indoor/outdoor shower! My husband used the outdoor grill 4 times during our stay & it worked very well! The kitchen is stocked with everything you need! Just drive a short distance to Calabash Market or Dolphin Market to buy your food. You can sit inside & eat at the 4-chair high-top table or you can eat outside on the deck. Either way, you will enjoy the gorgeous views!! This house is a short drive or walk to Kiddel and Grootpan Bays & a short drive (wouldn't walk) to Salt Pond Bay. Of course, you can drive your Jeep out to the other beautiful beaches of St. John as well. We will most definitely stay here again in the future!

Nice property fantastic location and view. About 4 miles from Coral Bay at the end of the road.
Enjoyed morning coffee on the porch watching the sail boats go by and adult beverages in the evening while stargazing. I must mention also the resident lizards and banana keet (bird) that greeted us every morning on the deck.
The cottage was clean and had everything we could possibly need plus. A steady breeze kept us cool at night and the sound of the water against the rocks lulled us to sleep. Just bring some food and your favorite beverages.
Quite and private. Read on line some people questioning the privacy. There are neighbors. We were there for 10 days. Saw one of the neighbors once and they both were home during our entire visit. Didn't hear them at all.
I would recommend to anyone looking for an affordable private getaway at a great location to consider Sea Spirit. In fact after posting some pictures on Facebook, one of my friends contacted me as to how he can reserve it.

This was our first trip to Saint John, and we were enamored with the island. Staying at Sea Spirit was definitely the highlight. We appreciated the coziness and peacefulness. Spending our evenings on the porch, listening to the ocean waves lapping on the rocks and viewing the night time sky was extremely relaxing. Terry was very easy to communicate with and helpful when planning our arrival. We do not think it would be possible to find a nicer place to stay.

This was our 3rd trip to St. John’s and by far our favorite primarily because of this amazing home. The location is beyond words. We enjoyed several beautiful rainbows all while listening to the crashing waves below. We hiked and snorkeled plenty but always looked forward to getting back to our private home with breathtaking views. We cannot wait to get back.

Terry was kind, communicative and very helpful with anything we needed. The house is as beautiful and lovely as the pictures. Well furnished with amenities you might need as well. Great snorkeling at the beaches nearby. Definitely rent a car so you can explore. There is a small market, run by a lovely family, a few minutes away if restocking is needed so you don't have to go all the way to the main grocery store. Local restaurants were also fun and lively with great musicians on some nights of the week. If staying with a pet the two beaches by the house are great, and you can also go to Waterlemon Bay or Hansen Beach (saw sea turtles at both). Hope to return soon!

Simply Beautiful!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the Sea Spirit! We spent nearly every waking moment when we were at the house on the deck overlooking the sea. We spent 6 nights there, and literally saw only three other vehicles on the road leading to the house, so if you’re looking for secluded this is the place for you. You will definitely need a vehicle with 4-wheel drive to access the house, so keep that in mind for your planning. Terry was a very welcoming and helpful host.
I will add that if you are traveling in “low season”, Coral Bay does not have much happening for restaurants, so be prepared to make a lot of your own food, or be willing to eat at whatever happens to be open at that day and time. Thankfully, the Sea Spirit has a full kitchen and a grill.

Remains our favorite
This was our 4th trip to the island and our second stay at Sea Spirit. Terry is great to work with and we absolutely LOVE the time we spend there. She has everything you need and it is a little slice of heaven.
If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind look no further! One of the BEST snorkel on the island is just steps away at Grootpan Bay. We saw AMAZING sea life!

There are 2 bays on either side of the cottage that you can walk to. There is usually not a sole at either one. The snorkeling at these bays, and directly in front of the cottage, was the best on the island, in our opinion. We also loved driving a couple miles down the main road (which turns into a very bumpy dirt road) to Lameshur Beach. It was always un-crowded and gorgeous. The restaurants/bars we enjoyed most on the island were The Beach Bar in Cruz Bay and Skinny Legs in Coral Bay. The cottage itself was small, but met all our needs. We appreciated that there was a cooler and beach chairs that we could haul with us while exploring the island. The landscaping around the cottage was beautiful. We cannot wait to go back and would not want to stay anywhere else on the island as this spot is perfect.

Sea Spirit is Better then Meditation !

It saddens me that we must say good-bye to Sea Spirit!!! It has been a tranquil 16 days!!!
Sea Spirit has been Paradise ... Peace and tranquility .... Experiencing a very Relaxed state of mind... And we we are now Recharged to return to the real world !!!!
Sea Spirit is so perfectly located out in the quiet on a cliff above the sea to enjoy the beauty and wonder of the sea, clouds, stars and moon! There is nothing more mesmerizing than watching the vast sea into the horizons. We spent every night on the deck stargazing and moon watching!
And then to be able to take a 2 minute walk to either Kiddel or Grootpan Bay for an early evening snorkel is a bonus! We love to be one with the sea as we snorkel!
We spent many mornings snorkeling the other bays : Greater Lameshur, Little Lameshur, Salt Pond, Waterlemon Cay, Haulover, Hanson Bays!!! So many corals, fish, stingray, turtles and was even privileged to see an octopus!
Hiked Lameshur Trail to the Petroglyphs and Reef Bay/Genti Bay and hiked to Ram Head and Drunk Bay!
Well those are the highlights of our trip ...
Sea Spirit provided us with the perfect accommodations for a better then meditation experience...splendidly tranquil, relaxing and energizing ... THANKYOU for a memorable trip to St John - Coral Bay!!!

Ten Stars
In the parlance of river rafters, rapids are rated 1-5. Except for the Colorado. Winding it's way through the Grand Canyon, it's rapids are rated 1-10. Sea Spirit is to other vacation homes what the Colorado is to other rivers. I do not exaggerate to say it is in a class by itself. Hence ten stars.
There is something about Sea Spirit.
Overwhelming beauty. From the moment one steps out on to the deck, nothing but the Caribbean Sea lies before you. At night the sky blossoms with stars. The Southern Cross is clearly visible above the horizon. While there are many wonderful restaurants on St. John, the sea, the sky and the stars provide a compelling incentive to dine nightly on the deck.
There is something about Sea Spirit.
The owners, Terry and Oliver have clearly lovingly attended to Sea Spirit. There is nothing shoddy or mediocre about the villa itself or the appliances within.
We plan to return to Sea Spirit. We have stayed at different places on St. John but there has been nothing like Sea Spirit. It has touched our souls and we are somehow richer for the experience.

A secluded villa in paradise- perfect for a romantic getaway!
Sea Spirit is a very special place, and we can't wait to go back! My husband and I usually stay at resorts for our one week away alone without the kids, and this year we decided to try a villa on St. John instead. Everything about Sea Spirit far exceeded our expectations! The villa is extremely private- it's only you, the birds, and the ocean. The entire front wall opens so that you feel you're in nature the entire time. We enjoyed breakfast every morning on the deck overlooking the ocean, watching the boats, and feeding the bananaquits the sugar they so love. It was unbelievably relaxing.
I couldn't believe how well stocked the villa was- Terry and Olivier have thought of everything! Even though we had packed suitcases of food and provisions, the house had plenty of paper products, cleaning supplies, beach supplies, etc. The kitchen appliances were good quality- a feature we were happy to find since we like to cook. Everything was comfortable and right where we needed it.
Coral Bay was definitely what we were looking for- a little off the beaten path, and very chill. There is absolutely no need for dressing up on this side of the island! The restaurants were great (Aqua Bistro and Shipwreck were our faves, but the burgers at Skinny Legs were fantastic too!), and the snorkeling was the best we've ever done. We did a lot of hiking and exploring different beaches. Renting a jeep is a MUST for all the crazy bumpy dirt roads!
We can't wait to go back next year. It was by far the best vacation we've had. Thank you Terry!!

Just another week in paradise!
Our definition of heaven! Our third time in Sea Spirit was as wonderful as the first. St John under the stars is just what one needs for a spring break. Alone in the middle of a wilderness park... Be sure to take advantage of all the great eating on this end of the island, the quiet beaches, and leave plenty of time just loafing on the deck watching the folks snorkeling the reef below the deck, the turtles doing the same, the jewel-like cruise ships sloooowly making their way across the horizon at night. Remember to loaf the first morning away, recharging with a cup of coffee! (There is the rest of the week in paradise, you know!). Take a day sail and snorkel the reefs or a day trip to Tortola or Virgin Gorda (bring your passport!). Don't forget to partake of the Fish tacos at the Tourist Trap at the top of Sugar Bird Hill! Your hosts, Terry and Olivier, are always available for information, assistance or a friendly chat. St John come soon (again!!).

Sea Spirit - Dec 2014
My wife and I stayed at the Sea Spirit in Dec 2014. It is as described in other reviews. The view from the deck in all directions is breathtaking. It is close to outstanding snorkeling locations and the restaurants of Coral Bay. However, the most outstanding feature is the deck. Sea Spirit is extremely well stock with everything needed for a great vacation. Do go prepared for noseeums and a few mosquitos. Both Terry and Olivier were great to work with and a great source for St John advice.

Lovely!
My wife and I stayed at Sea Spirit for our honeymoon and it was absolutely amazing. I highly highly recommend it. Even though we didn't arrive until after 11PM, the owners went out of their way to rent a jeep on our behalf, pick us up from the ferry and lead us out to Sea Spirit and show us around the place. The ocean sounds and stars at night were amazing but when we woke up the next day we were blown away by the view. It is a great place to stay if you want to rent a vehicle to visit different beaches and restaurants and really get a feel for the island as a whole. If you're looking for room service and a beach a few steps from your room, this isn't it. But if you want to feel like you have your own portion of the island, enjoy a lovely home, and have a view unlike any other, this is your place. Have fun and keep left!

touched my soul
My fiancé and I spent nine days of complete bliss in this magical cottage above the enchanting sea. Truly touched my soul. I had just finished treatment for breast cancer and was celebrating with a much needed vacation. Words can not express how Sea Spirit simply takes your breath away! Definitely the best place on the entire island. With all my travels there is no place I would rather be. We have booked another stay in November and have been looking forward to it ALL year. Terry, I sure hope we get to meet this time....

Million dollar view and privacy
After four years of trying to arrange our hectic work and family schedules, my wife and I were finally able to reserve this marvelous cottage for an all to brief vacation. Situated on a bluff between two beautiful bays, Sea Spirit offered the ultimate in relaxation and privacy. The view, as mentioned, is spectacular and the colors change throughout the day. I probably took 50 pictures of the rock formation below the deck. While each day was spent exploring the island of St. John and its beautiful beaches each evening we would return to our quiet little cottage for relaxation and cooking out on the grill. Because of its remote location the night sky is spectacular and each night we saw shooting stars as we lounged on the porch in the cool evening breeze. This was the best vacation we have ever been on and that's saying something considering we have been to Asia, Australia, the Pacific islands, the Caribbean, central America and in my wife's case even the Seychelles.
The owner was wonderful and the house was clean and well maintained. Although remote there were amenities nearby for food and groceries. As mentioned by other reviewers the Sunday Jazz brunch at Miss Lucy's was fun and the music was great. Get there around 1:30 to avoid the noon rush. We definitely plan to return to this property as soon as we can break away.

FANTASTIC!
Best vacation I've had in years! It's like you're the only people on the the planet, except for the occasional sailboat on the horizon. The only problem was making ourselves leave the deck long enough to enjoy the beaches and hiking trails.
The house is well maintained and the location is absolutely breathtaking.
We became very attached to the bananaquits and hummingbirds that joined us for breakfast on the deck every morning.
I thought the snorkeling was better than anywhere I have been in the Carribean. I made the swim from Kiddle Bay to Grootpan and saw tons of sea life, including several friendly sea turtles. My wife enjoyed snorkeling the reefs at both bays and really liked the chuckling sound the cobblestones made when the waves ran back out. I got quite a bit of underwater video, so definitely pack an underwater camera of some type.
Don't forget about the hiking trails. We really enjoyed the hike to the petroglyphs and some of the ruins.
The restaurants nearby are really good. Our favorites were Miss Lucy's ( don't miss the Sunday brunch) and Concordia. Our favorite meals though, were grilled on the deck. (there's that deck again.) and eating dinner under the stars. We were lucky enough to be there during the Lyrids meteor shower. What a way to spend your anniversary!
Terry was great to work with. Very attentive and helpful.
I must admit to being concerned about the house being built behind the property, but shouldn't have been. Once you pass it on the way in, you don't even know it's there. I would recommend Sea Spirit to anyone, and can't wait till I can schedule another trip!

Absolutely beautiful!
I cannot say enough about this Villa! It is absolutely perfect. The villa is clean and cozy. It is just the perfect size and has everything you need. The views are beyond spectacular! The location is superb! You can walk to several beaches. (Get snorkel gear, you will not be disappointed.) The owner Terry is wonderful and very helpful! You will be torn between going out to explore the island or staying holed up in this paradise villa! I have recommended this villa to everyone I know that is considering a St. John vacation. I recommend lunch at Skinny Legs and dinner at Shipwreck Landing! I would have gladly stayed in St. John at this villa forever! You will most definitely enjoy your stay!

AAAAAAHHHHHHHhhhhhhhh.....
I've stayed at fancier, more exciting, and more luxurious places in my life, but my wife and I have NEVER stayed anywhere as relaxing as Sea Spirit. The waves against the rocks lull you to sleep at night and the occasional short rain shower on the roof is music to your ears. Terry was wonderful and very accommodating. The villa was set up with all of the beach towels, coolers, beach chairs/blankets, etc that you'd need. The hot tub was a great spot to relax and look at the stars through the clear sky (very little light pollution so the amount of visible stars is astonishing). The front porch/deck was perfect for morning coffee or an afternoon sandwich. The villa is located about 1/3 mile up a dirt/gravel road, but seemed easily passable with a "normal" car.
The two closest beaches (Kiddel Bay and Grootpan Bay) are both very secluded with good snorkeling and within walking distance, but both quite rocky (no sand on the beach). For a sandy beach, you can either drive to Salt Pond Bay and deal with a few extra people, or (if you have a 4 wheel drive) I'd recommend Little Lameshur Bay about 1 1/2 miles away. Fantastic snorkeling. Sandy beach. Close parking. Very few people.

Beyond Description
We have stayed at many vacation rentals over the last several years in many different places. Most of them have been through VRBO. We can say with certainty this one ranks at the top of the list. We seek out secluded and off the beaten path locations and this one fit the bill perfectly.
This little house sits atop a cliff overlooking the ocean. There is no other human structure or being in sight while looking out from the deck. The complete darkness at night makes the stars shine with a splendor not seen in most places. The only sounds at night are the breeze, waves, and nature. There is definitely something magical about Sea Spirit from the moment you walk in the door. The quiet and solitude are very therapeutic and quickly soothe the soul.
The island is not one of night life and tourist attractions which is what attracted it to us in the first place. There are many great snorkeling places nearby, trails to hike, beaches to sit on, and roads to explore. We found our way to many of them during the week. However, what we looked forward to the most was returning to the house and watching the sunset from the deck each evening.
Terry is awesome. Working with her was seamless. She is available if necessary and explained everything to us the first night we arrived.
Words cannot describe how wonderful this place is. Suffice it to say you cannot go wrong staying here.

THE TRUE MEANING OF PARADISE! AMAZING!!!
If you ever dreamed about waking up in paradise, in your own private island, with the most amazing view, in the cuttest little house, this is how we felt at Sea Spirit. There are no words to describe the tranquility and the breath taking views from the house. Nothing sorounds the house, so we felt in a private island. The house is beautifully decorated and has everything you need to cook and very comfortable spaces. We traveled with our two boys, who loved sleeping in the loft , watching the sugar birds, and of couse, the hot tub! The outside shower was a great new experience as well. The island is incredibly beautiful, we snorkeled different beaches everyday and had the best family time. Terry was incredible to work with, very accomodating, and gave us great suggestions for snorkeling spots and restaurants, like Aqua Bistro, chef MJ is a character, we loved him and his food too. If you love nature, tranquility, privacy, snorkeling, and the most beautiful beaches in the world, St John is the island to go to, but if you want to feel like you belong in paradise, you need to stay at Sea Spirit.

Amazing time at Sea Spirit
Thank you so much for your hospitality, Terry! We had an amazing week exploring St John. We loved Sea Spirit - so private and perfect for the two of us. We enjoyed the hot tub a few nights to relax after a busy day of snorkeling and hiking. I never thought I could see so many stars! So many great memories! By the way, we did get to snorkel out around in front of the house from Kiddel to Grootpan bays - it was so cool! We love St. John and Sea Spirit and hope to return soon. We are still not sure if we want to bring the girls, though they are already practicing their snorkeling in the pool!

My wife and I stayed a week at Sea Spirit to celebrate our 61st wedding anniversary. Sea Spirit is a wonderful name for such a wonderful place. Terry said to bring a good read, as there is not much night life. I didn't get much read because I spent so much time watching the ocean crash on the rocks. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place. Kiddle bay is one of the best places to snorkel and oh so close. Terry is so nice to work with- not sure we are up to much more travel, but this would be near the top of the list.
