Ours is a quiet private street on the water. The Goose Grocery in Bayview, Clinton Food Mart, and Star Store Langley are all a 5-10 minute drive away. Earth Sanctuary and Fare Market are all close by. A recent review gives a great feel for our details: " I have been a vacation house visitor for about 25 years and this beautiful Whidbey island home is BY FAR the most enchanting and rejuvenating place I've ever been. So many details are attended to which makes the house seem warm and 'lived-in' and lends to the immediate feeling upon arriving that you have just come home. After unpacking and finding a comfortable place to sit, breathe and take in the view of the harbor, I could feel the stress drain from my body and mind. We only had 2 nights to be in that serene environment but it had such an impact on all of us that it felt more like a week...now THAT'S getting your money's worth! The home is walking distance (10 minutes) to thrift & antique stores, as well as the grocery store that has an amazing organic section and some of the most lovely seafood you will find in a tiny town, anywhere. We grilled some Copper River salmon and veggies one evening on the bbq provided (bring your favorite charcoal!) and we couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces the entire meal. We also walked up to one of the local restaurants for lunch and had a couple good sandwiches and salads but I would definitely recommend buying food and spending as much time at the beach house as possible because it's much more affordable than eating in town and you really won't want to be anywhere else for long during your stay. Definitely set out on a stroll at low tide so you can take in all of the gorgeous rocks & shells that adorn this quiet little beach. The morning sunlight is best and the water is calm because there's not much wind, which can kick up quite a bit off the harbor in the evening time so be sure to bring warm clothes if you're planning an outdoor fire. Although, if you've got a toasty fire going in the wood stove, the sound of the wind and the waves is truly a deeply calming experience not to be missed. The photos on the VRBO website are entirely accurate although the modest listing description left us delightfully surprised by all this wonderful beach home had to offer. If you've missed your opportunity to book your time away here this year, I HIGHLY recommend booking now for next year so that you can have the pleasure of staying at one of the most enjoyable vacation stays you'll ever find.' 15 minutes drive from the Clinton ferry to Seattle. Easy parking in our driveway. Key access and address will be sent to you three days before check in. Please be aware that all water sports, including swimming, wading, and all beach and water activities are at your own risk. Water conditions on any body of water, including this harbor, can change rapidly, especially in winter months. Even if the water appears calm, be aware that winds can alter and currents and tides can change. Please consult Whidbey tide charts and weather apps before any outdoor activities, and children should always be supervised. Safety First!

Jess, the owner was wonderful! Her first message to us that we could check in as early as we wanted and check out Anytime. What a wonderful Christmas present to us . Thank you Jess! The house was warm( wood stove) quiet and the most beautiful view. A nice beach in front where you could walk all the way to the park if the tide was low enough.the bed was absolutely the most comfy bed I have ever slept in. The kitchen fully stocked . Everything was perfect and hopefully we will be back!!
Thank you Jess for a wonderful Christmas in your home!!

This charming home is located right on the water, with the sounds of the waves capturing our hearts right away. There was plenty of space for the family and enough extras, like the piano, games and puzzles, to make it easy to cozy up on the comfy couch or sit on the back deck watching the wildlife and waves. We will definitely be coming back!

We had such a relaxing stay on Baby Beach :) It was perfect for me, my husband and our toddler with loads of family friendly activities around the island, but also just the right amount of space in the home. The views were spectacular and the home had everything we needed for a comfortable visit. We especially loved the fireplace and the kayaks, as well as the park for our little one that was in walking distance! Will definitely be back!

We loved sitting at the table and looking right out at the beach as water ebbed and flowed. Birds, long legged birds, large winged birds patrolled the area. We did not miss television, busy schedules and the so many things one does on a daily basis. I must ask what the little critters were on the beach that ran and hid as soon as one lifted their shelter rock. They were black with many legs and maybe little claws...not sure. We ran also. The flowers on your property were lush. We were close to the wonderful grocery store where ( I kid you not) every item was as artistically displayed as I have ever seen at a grocery store. All in all, we rested, reflected and let the world of worry wither away from our minds. The four days went so quickly......then we went to Seattle.....The island and cottage were wonderful compared to the noise of sirens that never let up.

This is the fourth time that I have stayed in this wonderful little old house. It has become like an old friend that I look forward to seeing every year. The beds are comfortable, the house is clean and well stocked, and deer walk through your back yard while you are sitting at the kitchen table! All this and you are only a few minutes' walk from one of the best grocery stores on the island. This year I came in May, visited beautiful Meekerk Gardens to see the rhododendrons in bloom, and spent a lot of time exploring some of the many beaches (like the one directly outside the back door) with my dog. Coming back to this quiet house is the perfect end to any day.

My friend and I had a wonderful visit to Freeland. This house couldn’t have been closer to the beach. Whether sitting on the deck or down on the lawn, the waves and hearing them breaking was mesmerizing. The house had everything we needed.
My friend uses a walker and the lawn was long so we asked Jess if it could be mowed and they were out within two hours. We were thrilled with how quickly they responded.
Highly recommend this house for a vacation.

Perfect place for a relaxing getaway! The kids had access to a public park/playground with just a brief walk down the beach. Simple kayaks for everyone to enjoy on the water. Wood stove to warm up by, and plenty of dry wood. Great communication with host. The place was ready for us a few hours early, and we were able to stay an extra hour later!

My family and I had a great stay at Jessica’s place. The home is lovely and location is beautiful. We used the kayaks, enjoyed sitting on the deck in the morning with a cup of coffee and loved the peaceful neighborhood. Jess was a wonderful and responsive host. We highly recommend this vacation home.

The view is beautiful- steps away from the beach. I was fortunate enough to stay 4 months. Friendly neighbors and a great place to bring my dog - Had a problem with the host coming onto the property and into the house the first two months. It was resolved when it was addressed .

This was such an amazing and special spot. The view itself it worth it. The house is a cute beach house, that is within walking distance to multiple restaurants, grocery story, park, etc...
Jess made me feel right at home and was easy to get a hold of if I needed something. She gave me great recommendations for places to eat and visit. The house was clean and welcoming.
This was a perfect home away from home. I would definitely stay here again and hope to do so in the future!

Baby Beach is the best.
This is our third stay at Baby Beach and we plan to come again when time permits. The location is wonderful; right on the beach. You won't find a better view anywhere. If you want luxury this may not be the place for you. But if you want quiet, serenity, and to get back to nature, you can't beat it. My dog loves it too.

The reviews are correct. This place is quaint and charming. We loved everything about it. We had everything we needed and more. The kids had a blast collecting shells and playing in the water. The beds were comfy and the whole experience was very relaxing. The view was gorgeous. We had a lot of fun on the kayaks. They provided life jackets. My kids loved picking cherries from the tree in front and watching the deer. Be sure to educate yourself on the ferry system. The Clinton ferry’s morning runs were cancelled so that interrupted our plans to drive into Olympic NP. This is, of course , no fault of the cottage owner☺️ It’s just something to be aware of. Overall a great experience!

Hazen Shores was a delight for my extended stay this spring. The cottage is steps from the dog-friendly beach and a short walking distance to the nearby Freeland Park with playground and picnic tables. The house itself is amply stocked, from kitchen pantry to linens, you can park yourself here and never leave . it's walking distance to fine restaurants, wineries and much more. Hazen Shores is tucked so close to the beach it may be interesting to find if the grass has overgrown the directional sign! i loved meeting the super friendly neighbors, who may inspire you with their clamming and if you're lucky, will invite you to enjoy the results of their digging! Jessica herself is warm and welcoming and quick to respond. My stay there will remain ever foremost in my mind as the perfect intro to Whidbey Island living

peaceful escape
We wanted to change our telework/remote learning environment from Seattle to the beach for a change. Wow, what a treat! Our family stayed for a week while staying connected to work and school. Can you stay productive with Bald Eagles soaring and River Otters playing in view of your 'office' window? Yes!! The relaxing atmosphere was just what we needed, but having the beach at our back door was the gem of our stay. Our standard poodle fetched many sticks and loved to swim in the calm waters. From the house, we hiked the beach through Freeland Park and up the hill for great views. Evenings we spent snuggled on the couch, reading with wood burning fire or we worked on our puzzle. The upright piano was a great surprise, we played songs and learned a new tune. Jess and Simon were the best hosts and they have a wonderful home. This is the house we would have if it was our beach house. Everything felt like home. Thank you and we'll look forward to our next visit.

What a beautiful location. This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have ever taken. We spent about half of our trip sitting in the lawn taking in the spectacular view and all of the local wildlife. We made use of the binoculars and the guides to wild life that were in the house to help identify many of the birds and harbor seals. I will have to bring sunscreen in the future and if it’s not needed I can always enjoy those views from the enormous picture windows in the living and dining areas of the house. We definitely want to come back again. Next time we may have to try some clamming in the harbor, painting the sunsets or explore the island, but then we may also just enjoy relaxing in the lawn or kayaking in the harbor.

Million Dollar View
The directions to Baby Beach House from Jessica were perfect and we drove directly to her cabin. The view of Holmes Harbor was spectacular through the kitchen and living room windows. Both beds in the back bedroom were very comfortable and we had good nights’ sleep. We toured the island to the Deception Pass Bridge and everyplace in between. We loved the shopping and eating at Coupville and Langley. Jessica was so nice to converse with and made our trip very enjoyable. We have other trips planned for next year but we hope to return to Baby Beach House in the future. Thanks again, Al & Sandy P.

Lovely home with a beautiful view.
Older property with character and charm.
If you like living in a home and not a glass and steel box by the water . then this is the place. Serenity is a word to that comes to mind when you pick this part of Freeland Town - Whidbey Island Washington State.

cluttered mess
the paradise ended at the waters edge for this house. Full of clutter and mess. carpets in hallway and front bedroom needed cleaning.
The house smelled of musty oders all thru the house when we got there. Garbage was left in the can when we got there, which meant we had to take to the dump and pay. Since they don't have garbage pickup. Said they would be getting the garbage on June 21st and 30th and dump it. no one showed up of course. Cost us an extra 15.00 to dump before we left.
The washer had smelly wet towels left for us. Sheets in the dryer to fold. When I went to use cookie shees, etc, they were the most discusting things I ever saw. You had to sand blast them before using them. The patio chair on front deck was held together by duct tape as well as the front door jam.
The chair fell apart during a wind storm while we were there.
Probably a good thing before someone got hurt on it.
This home should be inspected before you guys list it on your site. I believe most people may only rent this place on short stays and don't see the real problems with it, until you are there for a long stay. The waterfront is beautiful, but ends there.
The real crapper was that their wall heater/cooler broke and for almost 2 weeks we had no heat. Good old Jessica told us that "maybe" Billy or Simon would be by to look at it, if the instructions on the wall did not work, which they did not. No body came by. Got an email from Jessica stating that we could build a fire in the stove or use the small heaters.
Was not fixed the day we left, with people coming in that same afternoon. Good luck to them!!!!!!
Filled with clutter and old stuff thruout the house.
You should really look at this place before allowing them to draw people in by the waterfront picture.

Lovely, relaxing getaway
We loved our time here. We have family that lives throughout the Seattle area that we have not seen in over 10 years. My brother & sister-in-law live in nearby Clinton and while they really wanted to show us around the island, we enjoyed being on the beach so much we never left the property once we checked in. We used the 2 larger kayaks, both fire pits, the hammocks and outdoor seating as well as the washer, dryer, piano, dishwasher and stove. Heat/Air unit took me a couple of tries before I was able to understand-once I 'got it' it worked very well. Loved all of the games, puzzles, the eclectic mix of dishes and being able to find just about any utensil needed. Plenty of choices for soaps, shampoo, sunscreen, etc, and tons of extra towels and linens available. We started also by washing dishes as we found some icky ones in the cabinets (we come across this a lot when using timeshares or extended stay properties so not an issue) Only thing I could not find was potholders, but as there were a gazillion dishtowels available was able to use those instead. We brought kites to fly and a telescope for star gazing and were not disappointed! We saw otters and harbor seals playing in the water from the deck as well as deer, eagles and assorted birds. Walking the beach we saw crabs, muscles and enormous schools of fish that came into the shallow during high tide. We all agreed it was like staying at a friend's house - modern enough to have comforts of a dishwasher and cooling/heating, but retaining a very cute and comfortable, quirky vibe.

Perfect location
This house is right on a quiet beach but within walking distance to restaurants and stores. It is perfect for kids with great sand, shells and rocks for castle building. There is also a park and playground just down the beach. Inside is a very cozy wood stove for fires on cool evenings. The house is stocked with everything you will ever need. This is our go to place every year. We love it.

One person's perspective that I would like to have read before renting
Clearly the vast majority of families have been happy staying at this property and I don't want to disparage that but it does have shortcomings. It is clean, has a responsive owner, is on the water and has room for 8-10 people making the nightly cost for such large groups reasonable. For a couple, the cost of the place is quite high after all the fees not disclosed at first are added in. Besides final cost, I was not happy with the quality of the rental itself (most things in it were old and had seen much better days). I have built and maintained homes and have some skills so know while this home is very clean it has not been upgraded as one would expect. My perceived negatives are: it has one rather small/dark bathroom with no vent so is hard to vent unless one opens the window enabling the neighbors to look it; there is a very small kitchen with hodge podge of old kitchen equipment; the house has odor (mentioned by a previous reviewer) that required re-washing of our clothes after we got home (we live on a beach so know this is not normal); VRBO pictures of inside were taken with fish-eye lens so indicate more space than is there; after pictures living space is cluttered with lots of old furniture; nearby houses are close with limited sound privacy when neighbors are present; lawn work next door jarred us out of bed early while lawn work on site disturbed us for several hours the one afternoon we wanted to sit quietly onthe deck. The work could have been scheduled when we were not there. The heating system was hard to figure out (old faded instructions on wall near thermostat which was actually hanging on wires out of wall) and included directions a client should never have to do (e.g. flip certain circuit breaker many times if heater doesn't come on). Some of the electrical outlets in the house were so old/used that items plugged in had to be held in to work. Several plugs had burn marks on them. I would not stay there again just for electrical system safety concerns which hopefully will be address soon, If folks are happy at this place, great. I wasn't.

Fantastic view...
My two sisters and I spent a weekend here. The owner was very nice and, prior to our visit, sent me helpful emails of explanation regarding some of the features of the house. This house is right on the water with an amazing view. It was too cold to enjoy the view from the outside, unfortunately, because it would have been nice to sit out on the deck or grass. However, we did enjoy the lovely, peaceful view of the water from the large windows in the dining area and living room. This house is an older house with an earthy, slightly funky vibe. It does have a bit of a musty odor, and, unfortunately, it was too cold outside to leave open the windows which may have been helpful. The beds were quite comfortable, which was a nice plus. The location is close to a great market and only 15 minutes from Langley that has some great restaurants and boutiques.
