The Stables was well-appointed and comfortable. We also had access to gardens and seating on several levels with views of the bridge over the Tyne. Parking (free) was available a 5 min walk away over the bridge. This was an ideal location for visiting the many Roman sights within 30 minutes drive and Northumberland in general. Whilst we only stayed 3 nights, we found the kitchen equipment a bit lacking to self cater but as the town was full of very good pubs and restaurants, it was no bother to go out. The cottage itself was in a great position to explore the town and surrounding countryside and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.
