The Stables was well-appointed and comfortable.
The Stables was well-appointed and comfortable. We also had access to gardens and seating on several levels with views of the bridge over the Tyne. Parking (free) was available a 5 min walk away over the bridge. This was an ideal location for visiting the many Roman sights within 30 minutes drive and Northumberland in general.

Whilst we only stayed 3 nights, we found the kitchen equipment a bit lacking to self cater but as the town was full of very good pubs and restaurants, it was no bother to go out. The cottage itself was in a great position to explore the town and surrounding countryside and we wouldn’t hesitate to come back again.

Ideal place for me to stay.
Ideal place for me to stay. Loved the location, loved the building. Corbridge itself, and Northumberland in general, were both beautiful. I did a lot of walking locally and a lot of sightseeing further afield - Kielder Observatory, Alnwick Castle, Hadrian's Wall, and Farne Island boat trip all recommended days out. Co-op within easy walking distance of home for meals or snacks after a day out, and plenty of places to choose from for a night out.
I could imagine that it would get very warm in The Stable in summer due to window size and location, but when I went (May/June) it was just right. The place seemed very quiet and private, I could sit and read in peace, and slept very well. As other reviews have said, the fan in the bathroom is extremely loud and stays on for a good 5-10 minutes after the light goes off, so take a torch instead of turning the light on if you need to pay a visit during the night.
Kitchen was well equipped, didn't need to bring anything from home to cook or eat with. Washing up liquid, cloth, tea towels all provided, as was microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, iron, clothes airer, Hoover, and hair dryer in the bedroom too.
The *only* thing that wasn't great was the WiFi. It worked better downstairs than upstairs, and dropped every minute or so, so it was possible to use the internet to search for information but not much more than that. If you need to be online, make sure you've got a large data allowance on your mobile phone instead.
Other than that - and I went on holiday to get unplugged anyway so it wasn't really an issue for me - I was very happy with my choice of accommodation and would happily stay there again.

Lovely little holiday home for 2 in the pretty village of Corbridge which has a great range of inns, restaurants and independent shops.
Compact accommodation over 2 floors located in small courtyard with access to well kept tiered gardens.
Lovely area to discover , historical sites... Roman towns / Forts, Hadrians Wall, medieval castles, beautiful gardens, super country pubs
Only slight downside is no onsite parking , so daily walk across the bridge over the River Tyne to the free parking on the other side.
