About this house rental

Located in Bailey Island, this lovely house for R 6,887 per night is a fantastic choice for your next trip. The Johnson Homestead is located on the south end of Bailey Island looking out at the entrance to Mackerel Cove. With one level access to 4 bedrooms and 2 full baths, front and back yards, this is the perfect place to unwind with easy accessibility. Sleeping 6-8(MAX), the house will be a comfortable fit for anyone wanting an ocean view from the living room couch or a chair in the front yard. Sit and watch the daily sunsets coloring the sky, they don't disappoint. Many days you will see Mt Washington on the horizon in the west as the sun sets, bringing the ocean view to a mountain view. A short walk through the back yard will bring you to a semi private beach in tranquil Little Harbor. At the beach you may enjoy peaceful moments watching the sunrise, swimming, floating, kayaking, or exploring the ocean floor's tide pools. The high and low tides makes a walk to the beach a different adventure every day, that's part of Maine life! The Johnson Homestead has central heat and AC. The bedrooms have: 1 Bedroom with King Bed, 2 bedrooms with Queen Beds, 1 bedroom with 2 Twins, Linens provided. There are two full bathrooms, one with walk in shower and one with a tub/shower, towels provided. The fully stocked kitchen has a eat in dining table with 6 chairs. There is a full sized washer and dryer. A gas grill for cooking out is provided. If you're hungry for local flavor in a Do-it-Yourself fashion pick up some "fresh off the boat" lobsters, cook them up yourself and eat them at the backyard picnic table. Delicious! There is a sun porch on the eastern, backside of the home. Enjoy eating meals, reading a book, playing games, or just watch the children play in the back yard. There is an automatic generator provided at the home. We recommend exploring local gift shops, restaurants, and ice cream stands right here in Harpswell. If you would like to explore more of Midcoast Maine check out museums and the Maine State Music Theatre at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Bath Maritime Museum, or the famous LL Bean store and outlet shopping in Freeport, Maine. A few of the local Harpswell restaurants we recommend within a 5-30 minute drive: Cook's Lobster & Ale House, Sundrenched, Bailey Island General Store (BIGS), Salt Cod Cafe and Island Candy Company. Erica's Seafood, Dolphin Restaurant and Marina, Pammy's Ice Cream, and Uncle Pete's Community Market. Please confirm hours before arrival for seasonal days and hours. We recommend a car for your stay here in Harpswell, Johnson Homestead is located 25 minutes from major grocery stores and the town of Brunswick. We hope you will be able to enjoy exploring all the Maine coast has to offer. If you will be flying to Maine we recommend Portland International Jetport (PWM). If assistance is needed for varying flight arrivals of your party, Safe Harbour Property Management offers concierge rides to and from PWM, please inquire. It is definitely an older home, but was comfortable and was very homey. We were brought 4 live lobsters on our first night- only $35 total for the 4!! Wish our stay could have been longer. Thank you, David and Doreen!

The house is an older Maine homestead in a perfect location. it has plenty of space with comfortable beds and furniture. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, pots and pans. We have stayed here before and it is our favorite local property.

Quaint, cozy, thoughtfully stocked, and nautically themed house by the sea. We enjoyed every minute wishing we had endless time to stay. For anyone unfamiliar with the neighborhood and surrounding communities I found the binder an excellent source for info. We will be back

Very peaceful surroundings. Spectacular views. Older home, adequate for our needs. The Johnsons were very pleasant.

Our family had a lovely time here. There is water access in front of the house (across the road) and behind the house (across the yard and down a hill), and lovely views of the cove from the living room. Plenty of lawn to set up croquet and badminton, and a screened in back porch for meals. 4 minute walk to the beach at Lands End. This is a family home and as such is not fancy but we found it very comfortable and perfect for a base for adventures as well as relaxing on a rainy morning. Well supplied kitchen, towels, and a grill!

We had a great stay with extended family. The house is much larger than it looks and the bedrooms are all a pretty good size. There were 7 of us and we had plenty of room. The only issue i had was it was a bit warm for me not having a/c, but we knew that when we booked. They do have many fans in the house and that helped a lot. This was our first time staying on Bailey Island and we loved it. The owner of the house lives next door and his sister lives on the other side and they, along with everyone else we met on the island, were so nice. The house is convenient to walk down to the lands end gift shop and we also walked to the giant stairs. Be prepared if you stay on the island, everything else is a bit of a trip. I didnt mind it one bit, but some people might find that difficult. But its a beautiful place to visit and I think we will be back.
