The cabin is just 3 miles from Saranac Lake and has a view of Kiwassa Lake from the spacious deck from which you can rest, relax and take in the views. The property is part of Cochran's Cabins which is nestled on over twenty wooded acres at the end of the road, on the water's edge of Lake Kiwassa within the Saranac Chain of Lakes. Within 10 miles is the Olympic Village of Lake Placid. Also in the area is hiking, boating, fishing, skiing, etc. Guests enjoy this simple waterfront cabin without TV or gaming devices because they can relax, enjoy nature and reconnect with family and friends. Guests are able enjoy a simple spot amidst forested trees and a gorgeous waterfront setting right on Adirondack waterfront. On property, guests have seen amazing wildlife including Adirondack birds, eagles, loons, etc. Amazing fishing abounds with pike, bass, etc waiting for you. Boating is ample with over 23 miles of waterways through the Saranac Chain of Lakes through Lower Saranac Lake, Middle Saranac Lake, Lake Flower in the Village of Saranac Lake, etc... The cabin rate is kept affordable because it is a housekeeping cabin - there is no maid service and guests bring their own linens. Limit one pet please. Advance notice is required to bring a pet. Kitchen items include a gas cooking stove/oven, refrigerator, coffeemaker, toaster, hot/cold running water, sink, stainless steel cooking utensils/flatware and dishes. The Living/Dining Area has two picture windows facing the front of the cabin with a view of the lake, a double door wood stove, an electric monitor heater, loveseat, a dresser and a table with chairs. The Bathroom has a toilet, sink and shower stall. Looking for a true Adirondack experience? Cabin has an outhouse that can be used as a 'second bathroom'! The Three Bedrooms have double beds in each including mattress covers and pillows. Up for an Adirondack Adventure? After, during or apart from your stay, take a canoe/camping trip. Park your car at the cabin property and transportation will be arranged for you, your gear, including canoe/kayak, at Lower or Middle Saranac Lake where camping is available on an Adirondack island. At that point, your adventure will begin! Navigate your way back to Kiwassa Lake through the Lower Saranac Lake locks including, if you desire, a night camping during your trek back. Camping will need to be arranged by you but if you're interested, we can direct you to the reservation site. What to bring The property is amidst 20+ wooded Adirondack acres. It is wise to bring flashlights and sneakers as the path to the cabin is naturally wooded. Other items: binoculars for the beautiful scenery, hiking/boating gear, food, linens (except pillows), charcoal if you plan to grill, games or books for entertainment (no TVs). Internet & Cell phones Due to the Adirondack wooded preserve, Internet and cell phones may not be accessible at your cabin. However, the nearby property and greens are WiFi compatible. Feel free to bring your laptop and set up on the porch (or on a cozy Adirondack chair on the main lawn area). Pet Policy Before your stay, you must notify us that you will be bringing your pet or your reservation may be considered void upon arrival. All guests must read and agree to the owner's pet policy. The Area The property is located on Lake Kiwassa & Kiwassa Outlet, 3 miles by paved road from the Village of Saranac Lake, which has supermarkets, restaurants, sporting goods stores, Adirondack gift shops, taxis, churches, garages, banks, golf courses, tennis, & basketball courts, hiking trails, and Laundromats. The Waterways From the property you are able to travel by boat, to the Village of Saranac Lake. You may also enjoy a waterway trip 40 miles through scenic Adirondack lakes, ponds, rivers & streams, & go through State locks into the Adirondack State Preserve. Adirondack lake & stream fishing for trout, bass, perch, northern pike, whitefish & panfish is available as well. Our operations will undoubtedly change and we appreciate your patience and consideration in advance. Our Expectations of Guests Taking Care We are a small family business simply trying to navigate what the new normal is while also trying to maintain the health of our guests and ourselves. We expect that our guests have taken great care and precaution, as we have, to self-quarantine and social distance. We know the Adirondacks is beloved to many which is why we’re opening our doors in a limited way. We will welcome guests who have self-quarantined prior to arrival for 14 days and who are feeling well and healthy. We expect our guests to be honest - that they have not come into contact with anyone that has had active COVID-19. Our cabins host 8 or fewer people. Only one cabin will be rented to each party. We will disallow congregating in groups of more than 10. This restriction may ease later in the summer. If you do not feel you can meet these expectations, please cancel your reservation. FAQ What can I expect at check-In?  You must check in to receive your key. ***** Do I need to wear a face covering?  Face coverings must be worn when in public areas such as the WiFI porch, in our local grocery stores, etc. We will wear them as well. A face mask can be purchased from us. ***** Can I check in early or have a late departure?  We are sorry we can not honor any early arrivals or late departures this season. For guests who launch a boat off-property on their day of arrival, you may park your car and boat trailer at the top of our property - to arrange permission for this, please contact us 24 hours in advance of your arrival. For guests without a boat, we highly recommend you make your travel arrangements in conjunction with an outdoor activity along the way to allow you to abide by our later check-in. From Kiwassa Lake (where you’ll be), you may travel to several lakes and into the Village of Saranac Lake. If you’d like to travel to Lower Saranac Lake, you may go through the Lower Locks (manual system available until they open later this year; for current status, contact the NYS DEC ***** What do I need to know about hiking trails? Please wear a face mask and understand that trail heads and parking may be limited. However, recreation is still encouraged/essential and you’ll find lots of tips/information at Guidance from ADK Mountain Club ***** Can I get a fishing license? Our local shops are still selling fishing licenses. Check with Blue Line Sports shop or Woods & Waters, both in Saranac Lake. Will the farmer’s markets be available?  Yes. ***** Can I rent a bicycle? Please contact Human Power Planet Earth bike shop.  Reservations are required. ***** Are area restaurants and shops open?  Yes, many restaurants are doing take-out in Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Guests should not expect a normal dining experience but should instead enjoy the tranquility of our cabin and property. Most shops are operating at reduced capacity, though and require a face covering.
