Situated in Park County, this lovely house for R 9,191 per night is a fantastic option for your next trip. In Ski jargon, 'Black Diamonds' are the toughest ski runs and for experts only-- but you won't need to be an expert to enjoy this Rocky Mountain Luxury Alpine Lodge! At 10,300 feet, it is nestled in the heart of South Park. Western Frontier meets elegance in this gracious home. You'll find the BDAL rivals fine European ski lodges and provides high end amenities without the crowded tourist feeling and high prices you will find only 17 miles away in Summit County and Breckenridge. Completely avoid the I-70 weekend & holiday traffic jams by taking US Highway 285 practically right to the house-- it is a breathtaking 1.5 hour drive from either Denver or Colorado Springs. Convenient to major highways in snowy weather, (this is VERY important!) the BDAL is beautifully tucked into pine and aspen forests with huge views. This is a custom built, luxury 5000 sq ft home overlooking the amazing Mosquito Mountain Range - huge views of Fourteeners right out your windows or from the private hot tub on the spacious patio! Perfect for entertaining, the gourmet kitchen invites you to host large families and friends. The vaulted Great Room with large log scissor-trusses and a stone-surround wood-burning stove creates a fabulous resort lodge experience. Plenty of wood available! The entire upper level is heated with radiant in-floor heat. 5 large bedrooms (4 kings/2 sets of bunks) and 3 large baths will easily accommodate 12-14. The luxury master suite is an eye-popper-- see all the features listed below. Downstairs you'll find two more spacious bedrooms, one with a king bed and the other with 2 sets of bunks (1 set memory foam full-size mattresses), and another large bath as well. The downstairs Great Room is an excellent entertainment area (Billiards, Foosball, Home Theater) to give you (and the kids!) room to spread out. This 5 acre property has the remnants of a gold mine from the last century. The water there even has two schools of Rainbow Trout (just for looking--no fishing please--they are just getting established!). There are several stocked fishing locations within 5 minutes' drive. We've also cleared a ski/sledding run on the hillside behind the house! Hands down one of the nicest rental homes in South Park. You will find the BDAL to be an elegant retreat with a unique Rocky Mountain touch-- you'll want to come back again and again! Things to do: ATVs are available to rent in the Fairplay area. You can also arrange horseback riding, fly fishing, hiking, dog sledding and white water rafting a short drive from the home. Biking is a big attraction in the summer. The Annual South Park Burro Race and street festival is very popular as well. In Feb each year, the Ice Sculptures in Breckenridge are truly spectacular. The activities in the area are almost limitless in all the seasons. Please note: please review the house rules. We have a no pets and no smoking policy. Violations will result in forfeiture of damage deposit. The water here is spectacular so no need for plastic bottles of water. Beautiful property as shown in the pictures and description. Everything was "as advertised"! We really enjoyed our stay and appreciated all of the extras including comfy blankets, firewood, hot tub, sauna, pool table, games & puzzles, and a full kitchen with everything we needed! Thanks Chuck!

We truly loved staying at this beautiful house in the woods! It was spacious and very well kept. Our teens kept busy with the pool table, foosball table, hot tub and sauna! We all cheered on the chiefs by streaming it on the internet and it worked great! The kitchen had every appliance and gadget we needed. The three couples each had large bedrooms upstairs, while the kids had a bunk room in the basement along with another nice queen room as well as a separate family room in the basement!! It was amazing and the house owner could not have been nicer about answering questions. They had the snow plowed each day, as we got lucky with loads of fresh snow. The drive to keystone did take about an hour, but the road was well maintained. Loved everything about this place!

The pictures do not do this beautiful home justice. It's furnished with everything you could possibly need. The views of the mountains are incredible. Communication with owner was always very prompt. We hope to return very soon.

We recently stayed in this home the end of July and I can’t say enough good things about this property. It’s a beautiful home. It was a good fit for our family of 12. The layout gives everyone their personal space. The owners are very generous and easy to work with. The area offers a lot to do but not as hectic and crazy as some of the bigger more populated areas. If your thinking about this property, just go for it, you won’t be sorry, it is an awesome well maintained home.

We have a group of 13, we all had the best time. Conveniently located to tons of things to do but yet secluded and not right next to tons of people! We all had plenty of space to spread out and enjoy our week stay! Great host and hope to get the opportunity to come back ti this little piece of heaven!

We had a very good time at this home. It had a wonderful layout and plenty of helpful items in the kitchen! Beds were comfy and location wonderful. Any issues were handled quickly and professionally by the owner. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed 3 nights with a group of friends over an extended weekend. Overall we were very happy with the property: the sleeping arrangements were great, the hot tub/sauna were a huge hit, there was plenty of room to hangout/relax, and the property was only a few minutes from Fairplay which was extremely convenient.

Can’t say enough good things about this property and the owner. The property and the surrounding views are breathtaking. The house had everything a large family or group could want; large, spacious rooms throughout the whole house including comfortable bedrooms, bathrooms, living and dining areas, a large kitchen and a game room. There’s even a hot tub and a sauna which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The house is nested way back off the main road surrounded by trees. We enjoyed watching hummingbirds daily and had a special treat one day when a family of Moose wondered across the property. And the homeowner made himself available for questions and recommendations on things to do in the area. I highly recommend this property.

A group of 9 of us stayed at this beautiful property. Everyone of us concluded that the pictures don't do this place justice. It is much more spacious than it appears and the home is very well kept with many top notch amenities. It is very conveniently located just off the highway which made it very convenient to access Breckenridge/Keystone. I would definitely stay at this home again.

We really enjoyed the house with our family. We played pool, went sledding, sat in the hot tub and even enjoyed the sauna. The drinking water was great from the spout near the kitchen sink. We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely home.

This was our second time staying at this house and once again, it did not disappoint. We had 6 adults and 3 kids with us and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans and spices to use. We were able to cook a full Thanksgiving meal with ease. The check in and out process is easy to follow and outlined well. Our family would gladly stay here again!

This is the second time we booked this property for a family getaway and we can’t say enough positive things! We always look forward to staying at Chuck’s home. It is immaculate, well thought out, and has a great open floor plan. Perfect for entertaining. Very family friendly, with several games and baby equipment. We plan to book again!

The house was large and lovely and our family loved vacationing there. The altitude was something we had to adjust to. We did, however, discover a problem with rodents the last day and found a snack bar in the wrapping that had been chewed on. Then, to our utter disgust, we found a live mouse in an open bag of popcorn that we had loaded into our car. Fortunately we were able to throw the mouse out with the bag and didn't discover any other little critters in our car. I informed the home owner and hopefully they will do something about pest control.

We had a wonderful time at this property! Beautiful home and gorgeous mountain views everywhere we went! So much to do and see, but we also enjoyed the peacefulness of the house and all it has to offer. Thank you for letting us stay! It was the perfect mountain retreat for our families from Indiana and Florida!

We were there for a weeding. Our entire family was able to stay in one place. The house was beautiful. The views were beautiful. Big kitchen. We were not crowded at all. We would definitely return to this home.

Plenty of space and great scenery
We had a large group, 8 adults and 5 children, and had plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the fire pit and the hot tub. We even saw a shooting star.

Finally found it!
For six years we have been looking for a house that comfortably accommodates Grandpa and Grandma, three adult kids, their spouses and children and we have finally found it. Summit County has gotten so congested, Gunnison and Lake City is such a long drive, but the Fairplay area is close to Denver and stills gives you the feeling of getting away to the mountains: quiet, cool, and beautiful. There are numerous outdoor activity opportunities in the area. In Alma, there is a little park with a playset and spot for kids to skip stones in the stream. It's delightful.
Black Diamond is set off the main road so there is no traffic noise and surrounded by trees so you are not right on top of your neighbor.
For our family, sleep is key for a successful weekend. Four bedrooms with king beds is almost impossible to find but a requirement for us. The bedrooms are good sized and hold the pack-n-plays for the babies without being crowded. There is an additional bunk room so as the babies grow up, they can enjoy being together.
The home is beautiful. Sometimes you can tell that a VRBO is strictly a rental and has a very sterile feeling. This is not true of this house. The owners have an open pantry that renters may use if they need a little more pancake mix. There are two high chairs and toys. There are even Christmas lights in two places in the great room on a timer so they enhance the fireplace mantel and the top of an armoire. There is plenty of seating. The home affords a homey, comfortable atmosphere. We hope to return to year after year as we seek to keep our family close. It's a great place!

We couldn’t of picked a better home away from home for our annual extended family vacation!! The home was very clean and lots of activities provided for the whole family! The owners of the home had awesome communication with us during our stay, definitely would recommend this home to others.

The perfect family home
We had our family (kids and grandkids) come from Nebraska and California for a week of family time since it had been almost 2 years. The house was perfect for all ages. The cleanliness, scenery, full kitchen, laundry facilities, and games were amazing. We even met the neighbors dog Nina, which the grandkids loved playing outside with. Everyone was able to feel at home, and enjoy our time together. The host was very informative of what was there and how to properly take care of his home, from the heat to the sauna and hot tub. We had 12 people and this house was the perfect home away from home. If anyone is wanting a Colorado get away, with the perfect scenery and not the noise of the city….THIS is the perfect place!
