Renovated Train Station on Thoroughbred Horse Farm
About this farm stay rental
Located in Lexington, this lovely farm stay for RÂ 4,158 per night is a great choice for your next vacation. Come stay in our newly renovated 1890's train station in the heart of the bluegrass. We are on a working thoroughbred horse farm right off Paris Pike, one of the most scenic areas in all of Central Kentucky. Drive by Gainsway and Elemendorf farms on the way to Claiborne farm. 15 minutes to the Kentucky Horse Park, Fasig Tipton, close to Keeneland and the Lexington area attractions. Hutchison Station was part of the L&N railroad system between 1890-1950, it still has the original hardwood floors, 12' ceilings and much of the original molding. In its heyday it included a post office, livestock loading platform, general store and blacksmith's shop. You can read more about the station house in 'Ghost Railroads of Kentucky'. Many of the original families still live in the area. Area activities include a 9 hole golf course within walking distance, and a short drive to many 18 hole courses, horse farm tours, historical sites including Shakertown, Mary Todd Lincoln House, Henry Clay Estate, Civil War battlefields and much more. We have easy access to I75 & I64 and are located 1/2 way between Lexington and Paris. Keywords: Horse Farm, Kentucky Horse Park, Country, Train Station, Historic, Free wifi.

It was a lovely stay! We loved the historical details of the renovated train station. The white roses and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in our place was so welcoming! Finally we so enjoyed actually being on the farm feeding the burros and petting the horses. Everything was so relaxing. We would love to come back!

The property is just minutes off the highway allowing you to get to downtown Paris in minutes or to downtown Lexington & the KY Horse Park in 15-25 minutes. There are multiple horse farm tours in every direction. We were welcomed with beautiful roses & cookies up on our arrival. I met both hosts as the live across the way & were over tending to the horses. We were also greeted by the donkeys who love peppermints amongst other things (we discovered thatincluded bananas). The Adirondack chairs provide a peaceful view all day & evening. It's even better if the horses are in the front pasture. And you can walk to the barn if they aren't out. There was a claw foot tub in the master bedroom so don't forget your bath bombs to relax at the end of your day. Highly recommend going to the Windy Corner Market for any meal! It's only a few minutes away.

My family stayed here over Labor Day weekend visiting our college daughters (Xavier and University of Kentucky). We loved the peaceful setting on the horse farm. We loved seeing the horses and feeding them in the evening. The property is accurately listed and was one of the cleanest rental we have stayed in. We cooked a large dinner for the girls and the kitchen equipment and utensils were more than adequate. The washer and dryer worked well and our girls did their laundry while there. The owner communicated effectively and check in and check out were easy. I would recommend this rental and will likely stay again the next time we visit our daughters.

Property is outstanding and Stephen and family are wonderful host. The house, setting and horses are second to none. It has to be the newest and cleanest VRBO property we have stayed. Everything was covered and nothing was lacking.
Our daughters (21 years of age to 7) were in heaven being around the horses and foals!!!
The icing on the cake had to be meeting Sophie the Jack Russell.
BLUF...You cannot go wrong spending a night or weekend in this property especially if you like horses or southern charm and manners.

We brought our 9 year old granddaughter to Lexington to tour all the horse farms. She loves everything to do with horses! The property was incredibly scenic and all the horses and donkeys were so friendly. The condo was beautiful inside and had everything we needed. Lisa and Steve were gracious hosts. We will definitely be back.

Our stay was just magical! The property had everything we needed for a comfortable stay with so many extra touches, like the cookies! John George, Sadie and all of the mares and their foals made it magical! We spent many hours watching them roam the fields and giving the donkey's a carrot or two. Will definitely stay again! Thank you for having us!

It was a beautiful area and so close to Lexington. We went to a distillery and mentioned the area we were staying tocour tour guide. He agreed with us that it was definitely God's country. So beautiful and restful. We loved spending time watching the horses in the evenings and giving the donkeys their treats.
The place was incredibly clean and lovely for my husband and my parents to spend a weekend. We had a peaceful few days away from the grind and noise of city living.

If you enjoy staying in unique places, this is the place to stay. Renovated Train Station on a Horse Farm in horse country was great. Host Lisa shared history of the Horse Farm and the Train Station; the donkeys greeted us and we really enjoyed seeing all the horses and their new foals. The accommodations appeared to be newly renovated and met all our expectations (2 couples). It is located fairly close to Lexington but far enough away that traffic is less busy. The Horse Farms that have tours are only about 30 minutes away. We loved our stay at Lisa's Renovated Train Station property.

We had a wonderful stay! We were able to cook out as we watched the beautiful mares and foals. We came to Kentucky to watch theLandrover three day event and go to Churchill Downs. We also hit some great places for bourbon tasting. Wonderful to come back to this remodeled train station to rest! Great hosts! Thank you Lisa and Stephen!

We wanted a quaint, quiet location to serve as a base for our week-long tour of horse and bourbon country, and this converted depot satisfied in every way! Steve and Lisa are the perfect hosts, and we canât thank them enough for their generosity and attentiveness. Weâll be back some day, and thereâs no question that weâll stay here again!

We enjoyed this beautifully restored, spacious property on a horse farm for our granddaughterâs school spring break. She loves horses and enjoyed feeding the on property horses and donkeys carrots and apples each day. We were convenient to the Kentucky Horse Park and a great local restaurant while bring close to Lexington and Paris as well. Fresh baked cookies and flowers were a great welcome after our road trip and flight into LEX. Plenty of cooking utensils, super clean and well decorated. Weâl be back!

This VRBO has become one of our favorites to stay at during our bi-annual Kentucky getaways. Steve & Lisa are wonderful hosts and make themselves readily available with any questions. Lisa's chocolate chip cookies are a delicious welcome, too! John George & Sadie love to accept treats of carrots. Just being on the property is a relaxing holiday for us with all of the horses, young and old, all eager for carrots or peppermints and a hug or two. We will look forward to staying again!

This property is just as it appears. It is on a working farm but the property is nice and calm. We were welcome to walk to the stables and pastures. There is a small side yard that worked well for yard games. The interior was cute and clean. We texted the hosts a few times asking for recommendations and they were more than willing to help. Check-in and check-out were both a breeze.

The setting and accommodations exceeded our expectations. Property and
home impeccably maintained and provided all the needs anyone would want. Up close and personal contact with the mares and foals was so enjoyable.

Another great stay
This was our 2nd stay here this year. We enjoyed it as much as the last. Our teenagers stayed this time; they loved petting and feeding the horses and donkeys. Anytime we are traveling to Kentucky, we will stay here. It is our home away from home.

This was truly one of the finest VRBO stays we've had, and if you're looking for a place to stay around Lexington, this is the one. Steve and Lisa went out of their way to make my two young daughters feel at home, and were gracious in allowing them to enjoy their farm as much as my wife and I did. The property is perfectly maintained, with beautiful woodwork and well equipped kitchen- and the views of the farm are incredible. An amazing place for horse lovers and vacationers alike. We will be back next year.

Beautiful property that was the perfect setting for a girlsâ weekend getaway! It was so fun to have made friends with the donkeys and horses on-site and we were sad to leave them! The property was gorgeous and spacious, stocked with all of the essentials. Although the kitchen has everything that any kitchen should, the fridge is just a very small one so it could be difficult if you plan on doing a lot of cooking. Thankfully we didnât so it wasnât a problem for us. Great location close enough to the convenience of Lexington yet far enough out of town for peace and tranquility makes for a perfect balance. We enjoyed one day touring Claiborne Farm and another day at the Jim Beam Distillery (a bit of a drive away at about an hour and a half); both highly recommended! Visiting downtown Paris was an extra perk that we took part in with some extra time that we had. I would caution that if youâre visiting the area with strictly the Bourbon Trail in mind, this location is a bit of a drive from most if not all of the well known distilleries. With that being said, I wouldnât hesitate one bit to book another stay at this property and hope to be able to do so!
