Nestled in Alto, this attractive cabin for R 4,592 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Welcome to our cabin! We have enjoyed many happy days here and hope you will too. The cabin is secluded and located on the side of a mountain with views of the Capitan Mountains. Local folklore claim that Capitan Mountain is where Smokey the Bear was adopted by the US Forestry Service to be their mascot when a Forest ranger happened upon a bear stomping out a camp fire many years ago. The home is professionally decorated with stainless appliances, granite countertops, 3 flat screen TV's with dvd players and an extensive movie collection for your use. There are also 2 wireless speakers. This home does not have a dining room but rather island seating and a bar height table for four. Outdoors on the same level, there is a dining table with four chairs as well. We have a 6 foot portable dining table and linens it you want a more formal setting while dining. The deer and elk regularly cross our property and the turkeys act as your alarm clock each morning. Located just 3.3 miles north of the turn off to Apache Ski Mountain and Ruidoso's Winter Park (a premier tubing and snow park area). This cozy cabin is remote and secluded but close to everything. Shopping in Ruidoso is excellent and minutes away as is the Inn of The Inn of the mountain Gods resort and casino. Ruidoso Downs Race Track and Spencer Theater is 1.5 miles. Noisy Water Winery is in the neighborhood and walking distance. The winery has tastings and a petting zoo. The elevation on the upper deck is 7,800 feet and the only sounds are the wind thru the pines. On a clear night you can see millions of stars that light up the cabin. You'll be amazed at the shooting stars while relaxing on the double chaise lounge. Level one is the bar, a den with flat screen tv, wireless speaker and two bedroom two bath suites, each bedroom has it’s own private shower/bath. The den sofa makes into a queen bed if needed. Bedroom #1 has a double bed and a twin bed. Bedroom #2 has a queen bed and access to the outdoors via a private entrance. Level two is the kitchen and living area with a ½ bath. It is fully furnished and has modern appliances including filtered water, cable TV and a wireless speaker. Level 3 is the Master Bedroom with a King bed and bath featuring a shower and tub. Wake up to amazing views out the bedroom and bathroom windows. Total guest sleeping capacity is 7 in beds with a sleeper sofa for approved additional guests. This is a truly amazing house for use in the winter with skiing, tubing, hiking and much more. The summers are warm days and cool nights with national horse racing at Ruidoso Downs. Shopping is just minutes away as well as three popular casinos You'll find yourself wanting to return time and time again. This was a short get away for my wife and I and my best friend and his wife. We have been friends for over 40 years. This cabin is absolutely beautiful. The split level gives privacy but easy access to the main area of the house. The cabin is a short distance from town making it very convenient. We absolutely loved being able to watch the wildlife. We had elk, mule deer, turkey and even a coyote to keep us entertained. This place is amazing. We would love to stay again.

What a wonderful week we had at the cabin. This is truly a Home away from Home. They provided just about everything you need. The cabin is comfortable and we spent a lot of time and enjoyed it tremendously, you definitely get your exercise though, up and down the floors, (which didn’t hurt us). The king bed was comfortable for us. The internet was slow (as warned) but that was ok, it did the job for us. We enjoyed feeding the animals: turkeys, deer, elk and a even a horse. The deer and turkeys were always ready for a meal . A trip to town is not too far down the road where we enjoyed a few good places to eat. This was the perfect cabin for us because of all the privacy and the wildlife.

The property was very nice and peaceful. Had everything we needed. We really enjoyed the wildlife. I named a few deer that visited us often. We had one doe that was there every day and she even visited very early the day we left. it was hard to say goodbye to her. The weather was a nice break from the Texas heat.

Nice quiet place to relax, but also close to all the areas we wanted to see and explore. Very nice cabin that accommodated the six of us nicely. We look forward to returning again.

We struggled a little to find the house, so better signage may help, but Renee was very helpful. And once we found it, our stay was wonderful! Just perfect for our Christmas vacay! Nicely stocked kitchen, well placed seating, and our dogs enjoyed the area so much, one of them ran off! Twice!! (She came back 🙂). Overall, our family enjoyed the home and our trip to Ruidoso was a great success and it was nice to have such a great house to come home to after busy days. We would stay here again, for sure.

This was our first time staying in a real log cabin. It was exciting to see it in person. The outside and the inside are spacious with plenty of room for everyone. The rustic decor gave it a nice cozy vibe. I felt right at home. The beds are comfortable. We slept nicely. Having a large deck to enjoy the scenery while sipping coffee was a great way to start the day. We watched for elk, wild turkeys, deer and birds. In the evenings we grilled and made s’mores. We had no issues with the stairs. The owners have thought of every detail and then some. This cabin is in a great location and highly recommend it. We had the perfect Labor Day weekend. We hope to come back to do it all over again.

The home is beautiful and the wildlife in the immediate area exceeded any expectation. We had four elk walk through the property one morning, plus there were deer, wild turkey, and wild horses! We definitely hope to have an opportunity to stay at this home again in the future.

This property was simply lovely and what really made it was the deck looking over the valley. Beside some maintenance and design challenges, this property was just what we needed. Saw elk, deer and different birds but no turkeys, heard them but no sightings.

Everything about the home was wonderful. Very clean and decorated beautiful. Beautiful outdoor deck with plenty of seating for meals or just relaxing. We loved the location. It's in between Capitan and Ruidoso. Would definitely rent again. Lot's of extra's made it feel like home.

This is a beautiful log cabin in the woods! My kids loved hiking around the house and getting to see all the animals, we saw deer, elk, and turkey! The only complaint I have is with the kitchen being on the middle floor it was a pain grilling down stairs. (We love to grill) Other than that we loved our stay and would rent this cabin again!

This cabin was perfect. It feels remote and private but it’s not far from town. There’s a winery/petting zoo at the end of the drive. It’s got plenty of room. Everything is well stocked-coffee, sugar, spices and plenty of pans and kitchen stuff. Bathrooms had soap, Kleenex and even lotion. The fire pit was great and so relaxing to sit outside. The deck even had two propane heaters in case you don’t want to deal w a fire. If you want a beautiful, quiet, relaxing getaway with more stars than you can count in the sky, look no further.

This trip was for peace and quiet—and this place delivers that! We enjoyed the short drive to Alto Lake Trails to hike everyday. Saw Elk there. Nicely equipped kitchen! The Mountain View was not what I am used to—really only from balcony corner. But the wildlife—deer and turkey visited daily! Staircase is beautiful but a bit dangerous if you have littles coming with you.

We spent 4 nights just enjoying the peaceful views and accommodations! Beds were very comfortable and bathrooms in each bedroom was awesome. The kitchen was loaded with the necessities of cooking! The only constructive criticism I would offer is the need for a warm comforter for the pull out sofas. Thank you for a wonderful trip. We hope to rent again sometime.
