This is the second time we have stayed here and it will not be the last. If we could give a rating of 10 we would.
We highly recommend you stay here when visiting the area. It truly is like coming home every night!

This little historical property was perfect for our getaway to Bardstown. Enjoyed the short walks to everyplace we wanted to go downtown and the historic neighborhood. Less than 10-minute drive to each of the three distilleries we toured while visiting. The property is full of charm and host made everything a breeze. Highly recommend!

Cute & charming cottage. Great location - a short & easy walk into town without being on a main thoroughfare. Appreciated all the host’s thoughtful recommendations on where to go and what to order - the fried green tomatoes, burgoo, yumyums and grilled Caesar salad were delicious just to name a few :)

Nice home to relax for a few days. Everything was clean and tidy. I enjoyed having coffee available and even tried the Bourbon one. The house is close to the restaurants to walk to in the evenings. I really recommend this house.

Had a wonderful Derby weekend stay in Bardstown. Quiet and romantic, classic hotel stay. Jacuzzi tub is a nice touch. Perfect location and patio is lovely day and night. Just bring your sleep mask if planning on sleeping in, very bright bedroom in the am.

The John Fitch Cottage fits in well with the historic homes surrounding it in Bardstown, Kentucky. Located on a quiet neighborhood street only a block or two from the historic district restaurants and shops. It was perfect for a relaxing time for two people. When we walked in, the house was lit up with a myriad of antique lamps throughout the house giving a warm and inviting welcome to tired travelers. Margaret Sue was great with communication. Except for a few cobwebs on those old lampshades, the house was spotlessly clean. The floors are original and beautifully restored. Yes, they creak a bit and are uneven--it's an old house and that is part of its charm.
If you have some mobility issues, as I do, you may want to keep in mind that there is a small step down to the bricked entrance and then two steps up to the door and there is no railing. The step down is not clear in the pictures. I was able to use my walker for support getting in and out. The bed is beautiful and comfortable but extremely high. You may want a stool. The jacuzzi tub looked delightful for a good soak but was too slippery for us seniors. A rubber mat for the bottom and a small grab bar on each side would be helpful. Having a handheld showerhead in the bathroom shower would be helpful as I was unable to reach the shower head to adjust it to my small stature and there's not much room to move away from it. The water pressure was great, though. I brought my own portable shower chair. It would be great if one were provided for future guests.
There is a washer and dryer provided. It is amazing what Margaret Sue has been able to provide in this little home. My husband and I had been traveling for a month by the time we got to Bardstown, and we needed a good, four-night rest before heading home. This lovely cottage provided the comfortable rest we needed.
There is now a FULL kitchen (no dishwaher) and it is well-supplied. I could have used a Dutch-oven size pot to make some homemade soup, but we just altered out menu. I'm sure that Margaret Sue would have provided one if we had contacted her.
The beverage center with coffee and tea was lovely. A basket of snacks and instant oatmeal came in handy for breakfast the next morning as we did not have time to get groceries the night we arrived. A few bottles of water in the refrigerator were appreciated. It was just what we needed to get through the first night.
We highly recommend the John Fitch Cottage!

Margaret, was very helpful from recommendations on tours, florist, restaurants, and so much more. Even helped arrange flowers to be waiting for GF upon our arrival.
If all host were as great as she was, I’d be staying somewhere every weekend! Thanks Margaret, hopefully we can come back and visit soon!

Great location, was very easy driving to and from all the places we wanted to visit during our vacation to Bardstown, Ky. We did not want to stay in a motel because of the noise level and this little cozy cottage fit our needs perfectly! A stove, microwave, toaster, coffee pot, washer & dryer were provided so all anyone needs to bring is personal items. I will absolutely use this host again!

A clean, cute, little home. We were able to walk to downtown within 5 min. The snacks and bourbon coffee was a pleasant suprise. And there is definitely a stove in the home.

Nice place to stay for our weekend getaway. This place is very clean. Has everything you need. Coffees, teas, sweeteners, creamer, snack basket with a variety of things and water. Within walking distance to town. My husband and I would choose the John Fitch Cottage over staying in a hotel. Will definitely be staying here again! Easy check in and out.

John Fitch Cottage, Bardstown Ky
Beautiful! Our host, Margaret Sue Masters was amazing. We had a few questions when we arrives and reached out to her and she responded immediately. Later during our stay she reached to make sure we had everything we needed. The cottage was perfect and included a washer and dryer for guest use. We'd love to stay there again.

Overall we enjoyed the cottage. The location to town is super as it is a 5 min walk at most. The extra touches to help your stay were perfect. The jacuzzi tub was nice to relax after long days of traveling about. We prefer a softer bed and fuller pillows but other than that, great place. Owner very responsive. Great places to eat: Mammys, Scout & Scholar and The Kitchen Table at Jim Beam.

Quaint Stay at the John Fitch House
Very clean and cozy house. It is in easy walking distance to the Historic Downtown section of Bardstown. It was our first vacation since my wife and I both retired and we were looking for a little getaway and it met all of our expectations. We would probably stay there the next time we are in Bardstown.

The courage was so cute and clean. Conveniently located, we were able to walk a few blocks to great restaurants. This was super helpful since there was a surprise snowstorm. We were warm and comfortable

Quaint property. Close to downtown Bardstown. Clean.
The only negative we have is that the “jacuzzi tub” listed is not operational. It’s just a soaking tub. I purposely chose this place for the jacuzzi tub. I was quite disappointed that it was only a large soaking tub. Everything else was accurate as listed.
There is no stove or oven, but there is a hot plate under the cabinet which we did not try out.
Overall, great value.

Sweet Little Bardstown Home
The home was very clean, well furnished and in close proximity to all that Bardstown has to offer. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. An added bonus the linens on the bed and in the bathroom were especially lovely!

Quaint Cottage in heart of Bardstown
We enjoyed our stay at the John Fitch cottage. We were in town for only 2 nights so it fit our needs to just fine. The property manager was very responsive to our questions. My only bit of feedback would be to consider maybe a hand held option added to the shower head for those of us that are average height. :-) Overall, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay!!!
