The Space: This is a 6 bedroom house that is separated into 3 units (Main Unit, Parlor Unit, and Attic Loft) but can be combined into one house with private headquarters. This is the home of former Governor Jesse McDonald - the home has been kept in top condition. It encompasses the charm of Leadville and is only a half-block away from main st. All TVs have Netflix and HBO. Whether you're planning a retreat weekend up in the mountains or a thanksgiving/ holiday dinner, this house is perfect for groups of up to 12 people. MAIN UNIT: The private entrance opens into the former Governor's entertainment quarters with a 12 foot ceiling, crystal chandelier and gas fireplace with original mantel. The living room has a pool table, extremely comfortable leather couches, an antique armoir, a fireplace, and a TV loaded with Netflix and HBO. This unit has 3 bedrooms on the second floor - Primary Bedroom The primary bedroom has a queen size bed with luxurious pillows, a private en-suite bathroom (with jacuzzi), mirror and reproduction wallpaper imported from England. This room also has original wood flooring dating back to 1881. - Guest rooms (2 of them) The two guest rooms come with queen beds, TVs (equiped with Netflix and HBO), and beautiful fireplaces (non-functioning, with original brass mantels) - Kitchen The fully equipped kitchen has a cook top range, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and table with four chairs. PARLOR UNIT: The private entrance opens into a formal parlor with a 12 foot ceiling, crystal chandelier and gas fireplace with original mantel. An antique dresser, wing-back chair, antique amoire and cable TV are also located in the living room. - Primary Bedroom The primary bedroom has a queen size bed with luxurious pillows, an antique dresser and mirror and reproduction wallpaper imported from England. This room also has original wood flooring dating back to 1881. - Kitchen The fully equipped kitchen has a cook top range, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and table with four chairs. Delicate floral wallpaper and lace curtains add to the charm. -Bathroom Off of the hall between the kitchen and bedroom is a private bath with a shower. The black-and-white geometric tile floor, mahogany sink cabinet and wainscotting on the walls give this modern bath an old-fashioned feel. This suite sleeps a maximum four people. There are doors between the bedroom and hall and the kitchen and parlor for privacy. ATTIC LOFT: - Primary Bedroom The primary suite is very large and charming. It has a king size bed with an ornate white iron headboard, a sink with vanity, large walk-in closet, antique dresser and mirror and a wing-back chair in a cozy sitting area. The original plank pine floors are covered with oriental style rugs. - Dormer Bedroom A cozy dormer bedroom with queen bed is off of the living room. A dresser and matching nightstand are also in this room. - Living Room The living room and kitchen share the same space in a large central area. The living room has a sofa, antique upholstered chair, writing desk and cable TV. - Kitchen The kitchen occupies one side of the room and has an oak table and 4 chairs, a stove with oven, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee maker. There is also a large walk-in storage closet. - Bathroom The private bath is located off the hallway between the kitchen and primary bedroom. There are built-in storage shelves, an enclosed shower, cute pedestal sink and an incredible view of the Sawatch mountain range. Guest Access: You have the entire house to yourselves. The Neighborhood: You'll be surrounded by the highest mountains in the Colorado Rockies where majestic scenery blends with a lively history. There is much to do during your stay including: - Skiing at nearby Ski Cooper, Copper Mountain, Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail and Beaver Creek - Ice skating, sledding, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and Nordic skiing on the Mineral Belt Trail. - Mountain biking for any level of expertise. World-class hiking, mountain climbing, fishing and hunting. - Shopping, dining, visiting museums or taking a self-guided walking tour in a quintessential Victorian town. - Following the route of the Silver Kings in Leadville's Mining District. - Exploring ghost towns. - Four-wheeling from beginner level to the more advanced 13,186' Mosquito Pass, the highest vehicular road in the United States. Getting Around: The Governor's Mansion is located just a half block off of Harrison Avenue (Leadville's Main Street), which means you can walk to all of Leadville's restaurants, shops and musuems. Other Things to Note: License # 001270 This property does not have air conditioning. Yes, we are pet friendly! There is an additional pet fee if you are bringing a pet (2 pets max) - $100 +tax for one, $200 +tax for two. Note: under no circumstances can you leave your pet(s) unattended at the property - there are doggy day care/ dog boarding options or take your pet with you! Violations of this may be met with a $100 fine or we may ask you to check-out early. If it snows more than several inches, look for snow removal signs to make sure you dont violate any temporary parking rules The Governor's Mansion was once the home of former Governor Jesse McDonald and is centrally located in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District. Part of this house was built in 1881, with the mansion portion completed in 1893. Former Governor, Jesse McDonald, who sought and found his fortune in Leadville, built this big house to entertain guests as they travelled through town. Staying in the mountains offers a unique and nature-immersed experience, characterized by a rustic charm. You might occasionally encounter some of the local wildlife, insects, and small critters that are part of the natural surroundings. We recommend keeping doors securely closed whenever possible. Rest assured, we've implemented thorough measures to ensure your stay remains undisturbed by these natural inhabitants. Altitude sickness is real. In Leadville/ Twin Lakes, the elevation can be up to 10,000 feet. Symptoms can include dizziness and nausea, so please be mindful of this. We cannot offer refunds for guests experiencing altitude sickness. If you anticipate being affected, we recommend obtaining insurance at the time of booking. Seven team leaders for a youth leadership event stayed here for a weekend. The house was large enough to allow each of us our own bedroom and bathroom. The kitchen had every utensil we required. Quiet and spacious.

Had a group of 8 staying here to climb a couple of 14ers last week! The house was great. Walking distance to all Leadville restaurants. Fully stocked including coffee and everything else we needed. Very comfortable beds. Also enjoyed the pool table. Great place to stay!!
