CULBURRA HOUSE
About this house rental
Culburra House is very private with a protected beach front position and the views are second to none. All surrounded by lush tropical gardens. The house has been meticulously designed with entertainment and fun in mind. Luxury, comfort and practicality all take equal priority at Culburra House. The second you walk through the front door into the open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area you will be knocked over by the views of the beach, ocean and mountains! Ten meters of sliding glass doors open directly onto an enormous covered deck that spans the width of the house. The combined floor area totals an enormous 90m2 and the soaring vaulted ceilings create an incredible open feeling. ON THE DECK There's a huge heavy wooden dining table, an almighty 5-burner Beefeater BBQ, bar fridge, pullout bin and drawer stocked with everything you will need to char grill to your heart's content. There's also an overhead fan to keep everyone cool and comfortable while watching the whales that frequently pass by (May to Aug and Oct to Dec) or the glorious sunsets (with drink in hand of course) . THE CHEFS KITCHEN Is to-die-for, with commercial stainless steel benches, a huge 140cm double fridge, 120cm double gas oven with simmer plate/wok burner, top quality pots, pans, knives, a double drawer dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine (so don't forget to bring lots of capsules!) and almost everything else a chef could wish for in a kitchen. The pantry is stocked with all the basics as well as a range of cleaning products. There is also a large round dining table which seats 8 and can be extended to handle a group of up to 14. THE MAIN LOUNGE ROOM Has probably the most comfortable oversized 'swallow me' linen sofas you will ever experience. The sofas are perfectly positioned to enjoy the stunning view, watch the 50" TV or gaze on the beautiful fireplace. You can build a roaring open fire for marshmallow toasting or use the fireplace as a combustion stove for cozy winter warming. Culburra House also comes with enough fire wood to ensure you can keep the house warm and cozy throughout your stay. 3 BEDROOMS & A LARGE BUNK ROOM/PLAY ROOM 1 x king bedroom 2 x queen bedrooms 1 x playroom - queen sofa bed and 2 sets of triple bunks. We've gone to town here! All beds are fitted with luxurious 100% Sheridan linen, 100% Australian wool underlays and feather duvets for extra snugness and warmth. There is two sets of pillows on the king and queens and a beautiful alpaca throw on each bed. Each bed also has a bedside light and power point. The sofa bed is no ordinary sofa bed, rigged with a commercial grade mechanism and a 6-inch inner spring mattress which should ensure a comfortable night's sleep! There is also a pool table, ping pong table and a big screen TV with a good selection of movies to keep everyone entertained when they're not at the beach. BATHROOMS & AN OUTDOOR SHOWER AREA There is two indoor bathrooms and a separate bathroom/powder room at Culburra House. One bathroom includes an enormous bath made from a giant river stone as well as a generous 12'' shower-head. The second bathroom has a large walk-in shower tiled with river stones. There is also a hot and cold outdoor shower for rinsing after the beach and a stainless steel rinsing station for your cossie, wetsuit and snorkelling, spear fishing and diving gear. OUTDOOR SEATING AREAS - SPOILT FOR CHOICE You'll be totally spoilt for choice for places to sit and relax at Culburra House. Take in the incredible views from the dining table on the main deck or spread out in The Penguin Lounge just outside the bunk room/playroom. There is plenty of seating in the Penguin lounge as well as an oversized low wooden table all surrounded by a lush garden of bamboo. There is also an intimate sitting area which captures the glorious morning sunshine on the deck outside the front door. However, the ultimate relaxation spot down of the front deck in the garden. The Tilbury Lounge includes two four seater and one two seater lounges and a fire pit. You can sit in the sun while taking in the view of the beach and ocean or sit around the fire pit slow cooking your dinner on the giant Brazilian style skewers or toasting marshmallows. LOCATION, LOCATION - VIEWS, PRIVACY, POSITION with 2 BEACH ACCESS Culburra House has the BEST VIEWS in Culburra (well, we think so anyway) and the northwest orientation means the house is filled with gorgeous sunshine, priceless in the winter months. The aspect also means we experience something very few houses on the east coast of Australia enjoy, magnificent sunsets over the ocean timed perfectly for wine o'clock. Culburra House is also VERY PRIVATE. The property is fully fenced and surrounded by lush gardens. The house is situated up on a headland and bordered on one side by a large grassed area. This means there is only neighbours on one side of the property. Another feature of Culburra House is something you can't see and many will probably never realise this about the house. Due to the unique position of the property, tucked snuggly into Tilbury Cove, the house, decks and seating areas are TOTALLY PROTECTED from the southerly and nor'easter winds (Culburra means "very windy place"). These winds can be reasonably strong to say the least, particularly in the summer months with the nor'easter winds. When everyone else has to move inside and batten down the hatches you will be able to continue to sit on the deck or in the Tilbury Lounge enjoying the views in a pleasant breeze. This really has to be experienced to be believed! We also have TWO BEACHES both within 2-3 minutes walk. One of our guests recently stated "you can hear the waves in stereo!" Directly in front of Culburra House is Tilbury Cove. This is the most protected section of Culburra Beach. It is safe for swimming, and great for snorkelling. Just round the point is also one of the best spots to free dive for lobster on the South Coast! Directly across the street is a gently sloping path leading down to Warrain Surf Beach. This means you can move from beach to beach depending on the conditions. The surf at Warrain has produced a number of Australian and World surf champions. If you're lucky enough to have a hunter-gatherer or two in your group, Culburra is also known for its excellent river, lake and ocean fishing and you can also catch prawns, crab and lobster! DOGS - VERY WELCOME Dogs are very welcome at Culburra House. Both beaches are dog friendly and leash free between 4pm and 8am. The property is fully enclosed so your pooch can roam freely in the garden. There is also a selection of bowls, dog tags with the Culburra House address (for your use during your stay) as well as a few doggie toys. While your pets are allowed inside the house, we ask that you keep them off of the furniture and beds please. IMPORTANT BOOKING INFORMATION Culburra house is designed for either 4 couples or 2 to 3 families. It is not intended or setup for 14 adults. I’m a long time visitor of Culburra and this property has been my dream house since it was renovated. The pictures just don’t do it justice. The most amazing views, so spacious, everything you could want. We loved the fire pit at night, the deck at sunset and the fire place in the gorgeous lounge room when it got cold. I have relatives that live further up the street on the other side but their view doesn’t get the amazing sunsets. Another benefit of this property is mentioned in the description- it’s unique position allows it much more shelter on the windy headland than any of the surrounding properties.
If I won the lottery tomorrow, my first purchase would be this house.

Feel the serenity
Love this house! Best spot on the beach. This is our second stay and it was just as good as the first. Relaxing, easy and cosy. The fire is heavenly and firewood right there is such a plus. We could never tire of the view from the living area and deck. So so stunning. Thanks again. 5 stars all the way

The minute you walk into the house and see the most beautiful view of Culburra beach it sets the mood for a relaxed and fun time . Open fire pit outside was a lot of fun with adults and kids as we toasted marshmallows. The inside fire kept us warm all night . The kids loved staying in the bunk room and spent so much time playing pool. A quick walk down the track and we were in the beach .

The property is beautifully set up, with tonnes of character and activities to do like ping pong, pool and fire pits. The view is stunning, looking out from big wooden deck out to Culburra Beach. The kitchen is well equipped and it was easy to cook for 12 of my nearest friends down there celebrating a mates 30th.
There is one catch, and that is you have to be very aware of your sound output because the next door neighbour must have nothing better to do but complain about sound. It was 1pm on a Saturday, we were having a merry old time (I must admit it was 13 men who were letting their hair down so it would have been loud). But at 1pm we got a call from the host who had heard a complaint from the neighbour. There was mention of a potential loss of bond if we didn't tone it down. I don't blame the host at all for having to do this, she has a stunning property and is keeping it well serviced for visitors and is just trying to run a business. But that neighbour became a $4000 concern for the rest of our trip
With all that's going on in the world at the moment you would think a bit of sound on a Saturday arvo wouldn't be worth a complaint. This neighbour should call up Putin and complain about the sounds of missiles being fired into Ukraine. That neighbour should call up God and complain about the sound of rain on a tin roof or waves crashing on the shore.
From 1pm on Saturday we had to be very conscious of sound. We went inside, closed doors and a few of us had to be on police mode to keep things in check.
This is all explained in the bio and the host very clearly communicated to me (the organiser) who communicated it to the larger group. If you have a few mates who are a little loud you'll be worrying about losing $4000. To be honest even if you have a big family or a larger group you may still have to watch your sound output.

Culburra House did not disappoint on our long weekend there.
The kitchen was well stocked and the large bbq easily handled our meal of butterflied leg of lamb, flank steak and barramundi.
The outdoor shower was great too wash of the sand after visits to the beach while the outdoor sink also came in handy when we caught a flathead.
All in all, a great venue provided a fantastic weekend.

We had an amazing weekend away with friends. The weather was terrible but that did't matter as we still had the incredible view from both the deck and the main living area. The fire added to the comfort in the lounge room. The house has a quirky, comforting vibe and has so much personality!!! The bath was incredible, a lovely way to relax. The hot shower outside was most welcome after a surf. The kitchen was great, especially the giant fridge. We loved staying here. The location was perfect, with easy access to both beaches. I highly recommend staying here. Thank you very much for having us!

Our family (4 generations) had a great weekend at the beach house. The house has a resort like feel perched above Tilbury Cove beach. Despite a terrible rain event the house was protected from the worst of the weather with the aspect and the large open plan living area and undercover rear deck meant we never felt cramped even with our large group.

This is a cracking spot. The highlight is the main living area leading onto the expansive deck, overlooking Culburra Beach from the south. Whilst this is the second time I have been here, it doesn't fail to impress. This means you enjoy sunsets from the deck, are protected from most wind directions, and being on the headland to the south, have access to two beaches, with different aspects, enjoying different conditions on any given day, all within a two minute walk. There are a multitude of kitchen utensils ideal for cooking for big groups as well as a large bbq, complete with a super cold beer/wine fridge conveniently close by. Even better, we were able to bring our dog, making it a holiday for all.

Fabulous location and wonderful house
Loved it! Great place, wonderful location, all the amenities we needed - 2 toasters were awesome! The extra things like hand wash in each bathroom, extra toilet paper and tissues, extra goodies for the pooch all makes the stay feel more special. The wonderful spice pantry was a treat too.
Thank you so much. We will definitely be back!

Amazing family stay with beach views
We had a fabulous time with all the family together. 4 generations. You could be lazy or energetic. Very short walk down a wide track to the beach where adults, kids and dogs enjoyed. The house itself was very quirky, spacious, tidy and clean. Baby friendly to a point as the verandah wasn’t closed in. Everything you need was there. You only need to bring your food and clothes. Everything else was catered for.
We will be talking about our Culburra Beach stay for a very long time.

Fantastic!!
We had family coming from overseas and wanted to show them the beauty of the coast, our stay in Culburra House was amazing from start to finish, the only disappointment was we had to leave.
I highly recommend this house and will be staying there again in the future if we are lucky enough.
Thanks so much to Debra.
