First Class, Historic Home in Kerrytown
About this house rental
John W. Maynard constructed this center-entry side gabled brick house in 1844. At the time the home was in the middle of a large, undeveloped block. Catherine Street did not extend between Division and State Streets until 1898. Maynard was a successful grocer with a store on Ann Street and his brother, William, was the city's most successful land developers during his time and the Mayor of Ann Arbor in the mid 1800s. Maynard street in Ann Arbor still bears their family's name as they were some of the early settlers of Ann Arbor. John and William Maynard were also responsible for donating land they personally owned in order for Ann Arbor to win the bid as the future location of the University of Michigan. In the 175 year life of this home it has served as student centers, a church, and the home to many of Ann Arbor's finest residents. Today the exterior of the home still has the most charm of any home in Ann Arbor but in 2006 it was meticulously restored and no expense was spared. The home has a viking range, sub zero fridge, wine bar, huge wrap around porch, patio, kohler fixtures, sonos surround sound throughout the house, and much more. Probably the best feature of the home is that it is absolutely in the heart of Ann Arbor and within walking distance to anything and everything. The set up for the beds in the home is 1 master suite with a king sized bed, 2 bedrooms with queens, 1 bedroom with a full, 3 twin beds, and 1 twin w/ trundle. There is also plenty of floor space for our 2 air mattresses if need be. Although the home is already beautiful we are continually engaging in projects to further enhance the home to make it better and better. Without a doubt this is the best home to rent in the Ann Arbor area. We will not rent to groups larger than 14 people and the primary contact for any group inquiring about renting must be over the age of 30. *Please note that we do have a pool / spa on our patio (as pictured) but it will only be available to groups that request use of it and are willing to pay the additional fee of $500 per rental period. We originally had not intended to allow visitors to use the spa due to increased liability and maintenance but would be willing to accommodate should a group request it. The pool / spa is closed for Winter, November through March / April depending on weather. **Also note that we do have 3 outdoor cameras that are installed for our family's safety living downtown. They are facing our driveway to monitor our cars and people who ring the doorbell. There is one over the pool and another for our front door. They are clearly visible and feel free to ask any questions about them if you have any concerns. They are not being monitored whatsoever during a guest's stay.

We reserved this house over a year in advance of the Michigan - Ohio State game. We chose it due to not only the beauty of the home and perfect accommodations for our group of 9, but for the proximity to the stadium and all of the restaurants Ann Arbor is known for like Zingermann deli (2 blocks away). We were walking distance to everything we needed. The house was perfect for our Thanksgiving dinner prep, and celebration. Beds were all very comfortable, and extra bedding for the cold nights. Host was very responsive. Would definitely stay here again!!

This is a truly magnificent house with a ton of character and plenty of space for a large group. Impeccably maintained and extremely clean. Absolutely perfect location to experience everything Ann Arbor has to offer!

We had 13 people ranging in age from 3-81. There was space for everyone, plenty of privacy or together time. The back yard is roomy and comfortable with a big fire pit and shallow pool/hot tub. The neighborhood is mostly quiet and you can walk to the Kerrytown market and coffee shop. The campus is a 10 minute walk away. We would highly recommend it. P.S. Mike, the property manager, is wonderful.

Ann Arbor is always a fun place to meet up with family & friends. Given the central location of the home, it was easy to have family travel from Ohio/Michigan.
We hosted a luncheon, catered by the famous Zingerman’s Deli, and had a wonderful day!
The home has many outdoor & indoor places for people to chat. The family that did spend the night had nice size rooms. We enjoyed all of it!
Management of the property was very responsive when we had a minor issue.
Thank you David & your family for sharing your beautiful home!

What a wonderful house and a great location.
Great spaces for dining and gathering or to just talk and hang out. Fire pit was very cozy on a cool evening.
Parking for four cars was quite nice.

This is a beautifully restored historic house, and it matched our high expectations in every way. It was clean, spacious, comfortable, and within easy walking distance to downtown Ann Arbor and U Michigan main campus. It was a great setting for a memorable family weekend.

Our family recently had the pleasure of renting this magnificent home in Ann Arbor and it was nothing short of amazing! It is spacious, immaculate and beautifully renovated and decorated. The kitchen was well stocked, the bedrooms were spacious and comfortable, there's parking on the premises ( which we were especially grateful for during parents weekend) and the beautiful fenced in backyard (with a pool and fire pit) was perfect for our family gatherings. It is conveniently located within walking distance to town, dining, shops, the U mich campus and the stadium. A special thank you to our host, Dave, who went above and beyond to make sure our trip was a success! I highly recommend this property and hope we have he opportunity to stay here again in the future!

I can not say enough good things about our stay in Ann Arbor at this historic home. It has been beautifully restored and tastefully decorated. The house was very clean and extremely comfortable. It is within walking distance to the University, downtown Ann Arbor and perhaps most importantly, Zingerman’s Deli. The owner was a pleasure to work with from start to finish. Such great memories!

Our family celebrated Thanksgiving together and went to the Big House! Everything about the property was first rate. We especially enjoyed the location because it was within walking distance of everything. The best part though was the house was a beacon and so warm, cozy and inviting lit up and welcoming us home. All of us have great memories of our time spent here playing games at the table, watching the big screen cozied up on the couch, working puzzles by the fire and cooking meals together. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Our family celebrated our son's graduation from University of Michigan while staying in this historic home in the center of Ann Arbor. Completely renovated and beautifully decorated, this spacious home has everything you need and is walking distance to the downtown area, the main campus, the Big House and Zingerman's. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the back patio around the outdoor fire pit in the evenings. David was a gracious host and keeps the house spotlessly clean. We had a wonderful stay here and know you will, too!
