Fabulous quiet location in Augusta, walk across the road to the beach. The cottage is well equipped, clean and bed super comfortable. If you want a relaxed get away, Red Beards is a great place to stay. Communication excellent with check in and out really easy.

Had an absolute wonderful stay for a couple of nights. House is just lovely, spacious and very clean. The beds were so comfortable and everything needed was there with some little extras which was very sweet and thoughtful, Had some great walks along the beach and house is very handy to go off exploring the area. Garden is beautiful and enclosed for our dog which was just fabulous. Would highly recommend a stay if you get the chance.

This lovely little cottage is in a quiet street away from town so close to the beach, walking distance to the river mouth and the Colour patch cafe/restaurant.
Perfect for the fur child as the garden is fully enclosed and secure and the dog beach is across the road.
The cottage is beautifully decorated in an eclectic way. It is very comfortable and has everything you need.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we will be back.

Even better than the photos, this 1960s extended beach house has all the atmosphere of a relaxed beach shack but all the amenities of a house where it counts. So the shower is strong and hot yet housed in a large laundry with retro, good condition sixties tiles. The kitchen has original-looking wooden cupboards and benches and is well stocked and has a decent stove, microwave, large fridge (also another fridge in the room leading to the garden). The bedrooms had original wardrobes and very comfortable beds, pillows and linen. There was a cute lookout room up wooden steps. The garden room is large and casual enough for storing beach gear and sleeping dogs and good for dining on the long wooden table. There are lots of extras like pull out clothes lines, binoculars, pegs, body boards, games and beach equipment to use. We loved the decor and the art work and the effort taken to create the sixties ambience. The back yard is well fenced with a covered area and lots of grass for the doggos. We were walking Cape to Cape on the five days that we were coming and going from here so we definitely want to return to get the most out of this fantastic place. Communication was excellent and Toni even told us about the Southern Elephant Seal that was using the beach right opposite as its resting place while it moulted - such an interesting bonus! We totally recommend The Retro Shack.

Absolutely adored this little blue shack that my family and I stayed in for 2 nights for my birthday. Beautiful location where this peaceful gem is located across from flinders bay. Lucky enough to see a seal who was resting during our stay, directly across the road. Thanks for an amazing visit!

Kids loved the backyard playing area ... I loved the back BBQ area

This cozy old shack is meters to the beach and our fur-baby loved the twice daily beach walks, not so much the wash down on the front patio. We liked that it was tucked away into the suburb with neighbours and no noisy holidaymakers around us.
Owners have everything you need inside and we did a mix of in-home cooking and dining out. The food at Colour Patch was amazing, and pub grub and views great at Augusta Hotel.
We also did trips out to some wineries and snorkeling at Prevelly and Granny's Pool. Fishbone is my new favourite, great wine and food was exquisite.
Great spot to stay. The place is old with beach shack charms, well-loved and clean.

The best little beach shack
From the time you pull into the driveway, you start smiling. The sign proclaims "the retro shack" and isn't she. Funky old tiles in the kitchen bathroom some lovely touches throughout. But overall it's comfortable cosy and is very well appointed. A upstairs room to look out over the ocean or chill out in the winter sun , or put a movie on for the kids. The shack is situated in a quiet gorgeous leafy area and Jay's beach is seriously less than 100m out of the driveway. The shack is dog friendly , child friendly , people friendly. We loved it.
