I didn’t enjoy the OLD hotel . I would not stay there again. Way over priced.
Breakfast was good. Lunch and dinner didn’t meet expectations. Pools were good. Beach was almost nonexistent.
Quality of food needs improvement. Poor.Had to change rooms due to noise. New room definitely did not have the expected view( hidden by palm tree). No hot water the first night so unable to bathe or shower. Room phone not working. Entertainment was below average except for the steel band that was great. Not what I am accustomed to seeing or hearing for the cost. Room was not as described on line. Beach was very small.Food overall was like a cheap buffet or a Golden Corral.

Expectations Shattered
I enjoyed the beach and the great service from Stacey-Ann. The facility was clean along with my room. I received outstanding service from some employees in Choicez, Martenio, O'Brien, and a few others who I cannot recall their names. These employees should be the role models and get the opportunity to train the unpleasant ones.
I did not appreciate the attitude from some of the staff. The older gentleman in the jerk hut was very hoggish and rude in the way he spoke to me , but when a white customer came to order, he was very polite and accommodating. Totally different attitude to the white man. I noticed that during the 5 days I was there, a lot of the staff had a different attitude towards me as a black person versus the nice polite behavior towards the white patrons. I paid quite a bit of money for my trip and I expected much better service. My husband and I have stayed at Zilara for many years, and we have never had any complaints and never any issues with staff. It was always an excitement to have breakfast at Choicez in the mornings. I was always surprised with the many tasty Jamaican dishes. This time around, I stayed at Ziva. The food at Choicez was super disappointing, not many tasty Jamaican dishes due to the fact that Southern dishes like grits and Indian dishes were added to the menu. My family and I paid good money to go to Jamaica to enjoy the many different foods and enjoy the authenticity of the culture. I felt as if I was in America/India. The few Janaican dishes I had, like the callaloo, which was there every day and very salty, the steam cabbage every day, the ackee and salt fish taste horrible, my utmost favourites dumplings and festivals taste as though it was first timers made them, hard and no taste. The short cook making ommlettes, his body language, and attitude displayed he did not want to be there, but it's his bread and butter, so no choice . The entertainment was very disappointing. I expected to see local s performing and show casing the Jamaican culture. I expected to hear a lot more Reggae, at one point, I thought I was home in Canada, but it was the wonderful warm temperature that I realized I was in Jamaica. People go to Jamaica to get everything Jamaican, and that was certainly not present.

Quick weekend getaway in Jamaica
The food was really good for buffet style. They had a nice variety of options including vegan. They had live music in the evenings which was nice. Everyone was very friendly.
I wasn't aware you had to make reservations for the specialty restaurants before I got there so we didn't get to try any since we were only there for an extended weekend.

Liquor is watered down. The ceiling of our hotel room started to drip water randomly. Our belongings were completely wet.
