Disconnect from your Device and RECONNECT with your loved ones and nature for a few days! 3 Queen Beds, 2 Bath (one with tub) capacity of 6. Located just off the main road shortly after Cooke City in Silver Gate, MT (approximately 7,400 feet elevation) leading to the Northeast Gate of Yellowstone, less than 2 MILES, just down the street from the Mount Republic Chapel of Peace. If the Chapel is on your left, know that it is about 5 cabins (because building standards require log construction and rustic architecture) beyond that on the same side of the road. It's easy to see because you'll see the WELCOME FRIENDS flag hanging from the tree. This hand-hewn Amish log cabin has 2 bedrooms, 2 Baths, a loft, large wrap around deck and walk out patio. 3 Cozy Queen Size Beds sleeping arrangements for up to 6 people. Spread throughout an impressive 1,000 square feet of living space, making it an ideal glamping, lodging accommodation hideaway choice for a family or a group of close friends looking for the ultimate mountain experience just outside the Lamar Valley of Yellowstone National Park. Whether your pleasure is fishing, hiking, biking or just relaxing, enjoy the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife. Sightings include bison, moose, elk, deer, bear - and yes, wolves! Located just minutes from the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park and a few hours from airports (Billings, Bozeman or Cody, WY), there is incredible scenery both in the park and in the surrounding Beartooth Mountains. Three communities in one - Colter Pass, Cooke City and Silver Gate. A Western Rose Cabin offers all the comforts of home with remote mountain scenery, waterfalls and wildlife. Many wildlife viewers, including "wolf watchers" headquarter in the area (where only about 100 people live year-round) for the proximity to early morning viewing of wolves and the park's other wildlife. The area is only a few miles from trails, wilderness, the All- American Beartooth Highway, Chief Joseph Scenic Byway and the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The main source of income/economy for the residents of Cooke City/Silver Gate is tourism, please contribute. Since it borders 3 National Forests, Shoshone, Gallatin and Custer and a National Park there are more lakes, rivers and scenic vistas that you will never run out of high-country adventure. Fly fishing opportunities abound in streams, rivers, and alpine lakes. Visitors can access the unbelievable the Beartooth Pass via what Charles Kuralt once described as 'the most beautiful drive in America." You’ll feel right at home the moment you step inside the cabin's beautiful interior, boasting extravagant furnishings, cozy wood touches a gas stove and a beautiful deck. Massive windows throughout the cabin frame expansive views of the surrounding scenery creating a dazzling backdrop for your trip. No cell (please refer to the Facebook page named Cooke City/Silver Gate Message Board then search for cell service) or internet service (none at the cabin, there is WIFI at the Cooke City Visitor Center along with some of the restaurants), but there is a landline. Welcome to Nature! We also own A Western Rose Motel in Cody, WY, near the East Gate of Yellowstone. Although there is a small country store, you should come prepared with all the food you will need. Major grocery stores, pharmacies, etc. are located in Billings, MT, Gardiner, MT and Cody, WY, both of which are 2 hours away. At this time, there is no outdoor grill. The idea is to see (maybe) the bears, not attract them or anything else (definitely!). Please, DO NOT FEED any of the wildlife. A few fun facts about Cooke City you may or may not have known: If you plan on staying/dining/shopping/exploring in Cooke City this summer, here are some things you should know. 1. This is COOKE CITY. NOT NEW YORK CITY. There are some first world services which you won't find here. 2. There is no cell service of any kind in Cooke City or Silver Gate. WiFi can also be sketchy everywhere in town. 3. Cooke City is the highest elevated town in Montana. We sit at 7,580 feet above sea level. I mention this for any visitors with respiratory/cardiac issues. We don't want to see you leaving town in an ambulance or helicopter. 4. Medical services are far, far away. We do have an amazing local volunteer EMS team. But they are limited in their capacity. And what you would normally drive yourself to the doctor for, here you'll leave town in a very long ambulance ride or a trip across the Beartooth Mountains in a helicopter. 5. There is no bank in Cooke City. There are several ATM machines around town. But the nearest bank is 1.75 hours away. 6. There is no grocery store here. You'll want to pick up any groceries before heading this way. The local convenience stores and General Store will carry the very basics. 7. There is no dentist in town. Last summer I saw two people leave my hotel on their way to a dentist. 8. Cooke City/Silver Gate are the only two towns in Montana you cannot drive to from Montana. No matter how you drive here, you have to drive through Wyoming first. If you're anywhere else in Montana, you have to leave the state to get to Cooke City/Silver Gate, MT. 9. During the winter months, we become the most isolated community in the lower 48. It's due to our proximity to . . . well . . . anything, really. 10. There are no law enforcement services in Cooke City/Silver Gate. We don't have any crime here. But I have seen fender benders happen with rental vehicles which require a police report. Those situations are oftentimes (but not always) handled through emails. 11. We have a one room school which educates local kids through the 8th grade. Yes, there is only one teacher for all grade levels. By the way, our teacher was just selected as the 2022 Rural Teacher of the Year for the state of Montana. We're so lucky to have her here. 12. Cooke City/Silver Gate is completely surrounded on all sides by Gallatin National Forest. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of miles of hiking trails around us. Outdoor opportunities are seemingly endless. 13. There is wildlife in and around Cooke City/Silver Gate. I have seen a moose run down the middle of the street. I have seen bears and bison walking down the center dividing line in the road. Foxes roam the area in the evening. And the town raven, Stevie, has been known to dive bomb people. THESE ANIMALS ARE NOT OUR PETS!!! Don't approach them. Don't touch. For goodness' sake, don't feed them!!! Every year, when I say I've seen it all, someone inevitably surprises me with their carelessness and lack of concern for wildlife. Last year I watched a man try to play fetch with a bison using a tennis ball. I watched a lady try to feed an apple to a bison. DON'T PET THE FLUFFY COWS, or any other animal you might encounter. 14. The only public restrooms in Cooke City are at the Visitor's Center. There is no sewer system in Cooke City (yet). Every home and business are on a septic system. Our town receives over a million visitors a year. And most need to use the facilities. This would require business to have their tanks pumped weekly. Of course, restaurants will allow you to use the restroom if you're patronizing their establishment. But if you just need to pee, the Visitor's Center is the only place. 15. Cooke City has an awesome Visitor's Center and museum. By all means, stop and spend a little time there. It explores the history of Cooke City and its historical importance to and relationship with Yellowstone National Park. The staff are friendly and informative. 16. (Addendum as of 04/14/2023) There is not a single air conditioner at any hotel or business in Cooke City. Our mild climate doesn't require it. Yes, it may get warm during the day. But as soon as the sun sets behind the mountain early in the evening, it cools down considerably. We cool our rooms and homes the old-fashioned way -- by opening the windows. We promise you'll get a great night's sleep with the cool night breezes flowing in your rooms. 17. (Addendum as of 04/16/2023 - courtesy of one of our Facebook followers) When visiting Cooke City/Silver Gate and surrounding areas you will be in "Bear Country." There are two kinds of bears in the area -- grizzly bears and black bears. These bears are amazing creatures!!! But nearly all encounters between bear and human which don't end well are the fault of human beings. Bears are magnificent, but also potentially deadly and are best observed from a safe distance. However, if you're out and about hiking in our mountains, you never know what you're going to encounter. It's best to always be prepared. Know what to do if you encounter a bear (of either kind). And always have bear spray with you when you're in bear country. And most importantly, know how to use it. We encourage you to reach out to us with any questions or concerns you may have. And we'll do our best to answer your questions or point you in the right direction. We hope your trips and vacations to Yellowstone and surrounding areas are full of adventure, fun, and memories. We're happy to help you plan your trip, just ask! This properly is beautiful and has everything you could possibly ask for. It was absolutely spotless and Brenda is wonderful to work with. We spent a lot of time in Lamar Valley and the north and northeast side of Yellowstone and this is a great place to stay. The cabin will easily and comfortably accommodate six people. It was great to be unplugged and enjoy nature. Brenda has a lot of information available about the area and you should review it. It has good recommendations from recreational to safety tips. Do not hesitate to rent the cabin. You will not be disappointed. Thank you for everything Brenda. We loved our stay.

What a fun and beautiful cabin! We really enjoyed our stay in silvergate. The cabin was a little bit difficult to find initially with our maps but Brenda provided great directions on the site and we were able to get corrected quickly. The cabin was perfect for our family. We had fun playing cards and games in our downtime (we brought our own) and loved exploring the park during the day. There was plenty of room for our family of 6 and we loved the stuffed buffaloes Brenda left us as a gift.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin. We spent our days in Lamar Valley watching wolves and grizzlies and it was so nice to come back to such comfortable beds with a fully stocked kitchen for making all our food. The check in process was easy and the host very accessible with great communication. We would love to stay here again on our next trip to the park.

After wonderful communication with Brenda, we easily found this adorable cabin. The flag outside was a huge help! We walked into a perfectly clean, comfortable little cabin with just about anything we could have needed. We brought our own groceries, but the cottage was fully stocked with what we needed to prepare our food. There are a few little restaurant's in Cooke City that we visited because we were there at the start of the college football season, and we knew there was no tv at the cabin. The MIners Saloon was a perfect place for watching our games! We made the mistake of visiting over Labor Day weekend, so we found the main road to be very loud and busy, as well as the surrounding cabins near us to be full and a little noiser than we like, b1ut we suspect this was not typical, and if you visit any time other than a holiday weekend, you'll be afforded a much more peaceful visit. That being said, we enjoyed ourselves very much. A very nice little place in a location extremely close to Yellowstone! Oh, we didn't see any wildlife at the cottage, but we got a great tip from Brenda's husband about a nice road to take right before arriving at the cabin, and sure enough, we saw a beautiful bull moose!

The night we checked in we had a fox around the cabin. Woke up to prestine mountain views. Totally off the grid yet we absorbed God's handiwork.
Lovely place that has all the things we needed.

We enjoyed our stay. The cabin is nice, all rooms and bathrooms are in good condition, and the property manager was very helpful. The property descriptions and pictures are very accurate. We would consider staying there again if in the area.

Really enjoyed our stay at the cabin! Brenda was great with communicating with us before we got there and after we arrived! It is a beautiful hand crafted wood cabin and the inside is just as pretty as the outside. It is right on the main road between Silver Gate and Cooke city but set back in the trees. It was a little hard to find it when we came in after dark when first arriving. As far as for security purposes, I would recommend there be more lighting on the outside at the front snd at the back and sides where the deck is. There is a basement with a door going outside and I would have felt more comfortable if there had been more light. If you have 4-6 people in your party, I would warn that there are only 2 Small bathrooms. The upstairs loft bedroom does not have a bathroom . This would not have worked well if I had had my daughters with us.

The cabin was perfect and had everythiny we needed for our stay. Even without a TV or wii, it was a very relaxing environment and much needed break from the busy world. The kids loved it too! And its just down the road feom the entrance into Yellowstone. Perfect location. Brenda was very helpful and was very communicative during our time setting up the trip. Thank you for letting us stay! We really enjoyed it.

Very comfortable and beautiful both the cabin and the area. Quiet and so relaxing.
Was just not aware of charges added to price of cabin until leaving. Owners responded to the few little things that needed attention immediately.
Amazing place to stay

This is a lovely cabin, in a beautiful, remote, location. Listen to your host! Brenda is very helpful and available for any questions, she has put everything in the listing. There is no internet, and very few businesses in town offer WiFi. That being said, we all agreed that the beauty of the surrounding area, and the location of this cabin is totally worth it. Even our 17 year old son was okay with disconnecting for a few days. There is a gas stove that heats the entire cabin, don’t be fooled, it gets warm & toasty quickly. We learned to turn it off and on as needed. You will need to use the electric heater (provided) in the bedroom downstairs. The cabin is only 5-6 miles from the Northeast entrance to Yellowstone, this was our favorite section of the park! It is loaded with wildlife. We enjoyed playing board games at night (I would bring a couple of your favorites). My only suggestion would be for the host to add a couple of games (we found one game). We stayed at another location in Teton Village with a game closet that included Scrabble, Life, Clue, Uno, Skipbo, Yatzee, & more, and we really enjoyed that feature. Don’t miss Cooke City & Silver Gate due to the lack of WiFi, you would really be missing out if you do. Be sure to drive the Beartooth Scenic Byway, it’s incredible! The cabin is lovely, and the host, Brenda is great! We hope to stay again in the future.

What a charming cabin! Perfect place for star gazing at night and enjoying abundant wildlife right from the back deck. Well appointed and cozy as can be! We truly enjoyed our short stay in Cooke City!

Great cabin and location for hiking in the area. Cooke City is a friendly town.

Since the access point to where we planned to go was closed, we had to drive 4 hours and back to get there. It would have been better if we could have canceled, but that option was not available. It was a nice place. The front bedroom was too dark so we slept upstairs. Everything thing else was fine.

Cabin was great, close to the NE entrance (we couldn’t access Yellowstone this time due to the flooding) but when that entrance is open the location is perfect. Really close to the amazing scenic Beartooth Highway - incredible views.

There is still plenty to do in the communities around Yellowstone after the flooding! The location between Silver Gate and Cooke City was perfect for hiking or going 4-wheeling in the larger area, including the Beartooth Mountains. The cabin was nice, small but laid out well for 6 people. There are 3 separate sleeping areas and 2 full bathrooms, plus a very nice back deck. The layout is fairly open, which is great for a fun vacation with friends and/or family, with a full kitchen and a dining table for 6+.

Great communication! Hopefully will get to stay in Future!
I provided a 5 star review but never actually got to stay at the property as our visit coincided exactly with the Cooke City /Yellowstone flooding in mid June 2021!
Brenda was great about providing information about the flooding and was transparent about the situation in Cooke City. She also worked with me on the trip insurance! Not sure I would recommend VRB0 as they were a bit confusing and a challenge, but Brenda was very honest and forthright in a tough situation where her family friends were impacted

Great cabin, even better host
The cabin more than exceeded our expectations. The owners have added a lot of little details around the house that really make it feel like home. It is very comfortable. As far as wildlife, we saw foxes and deer from the back porch and even saw a moose walking by the front door on our last day there.
I cannot say enough about how attentive Brenda was with our group. She checked in many times prior to the trip and during. After our flight was delayed significantly, we arrived later than expected and she offered for us to stay at their motel in Cody rather than make the drive to the cabin in the middle of the night. If I could give Brenda 10 stars for her service I would.

Everything about this place was so memorable!
Abundant nature and wildlife.
I’d stay again 💯 the only thing I would say is if I had little children or elderly this lovely place has 3 levels of bedrooms with steep stairs and just passing by the narrow path to get to the bathroom you could easily fall down the stairway if not paying attention or dark.
They had a baby gate so do not let my opinion keep you from this place it’s gorgeous!

This cabin is just beautiful. We had the best time staying there. It is welcoming, charming, cozy and very comfortable. We saw deer in the yard and a buffalo surprised us on the morning we were packing to leave. Was very exciting. We enjoyed sitting on the deck and spent time just enjoying the cabin. This was the perfect location for our early morning and evening wildlife viewing adventures in Lamar Valley. We saw bears, wolves and eagles. Was just fabulous. We also enjoyed Silvergate and Cooke City. We ate twice at the BearTooth Cafe and bought treasures at the Trading Post. We highly recommend this cabin for a mountain get-away. Brenda was great with communicating everything we need. Great host.

The cabin is lovely. Other cabins next door but no noise from others. Super close to Yellowstone. Enjoyed the town too! Being without cell or internet was a blessing! Some movies and a dvd player& tv night be nice. Did the puzzle ( missing 1 piece) and relaxed. 1st floor bed could stand replacement ( so my friends said). Didn’t use loft but basement was comfy!
