Very original concept that allows you to get to know more human Italian locations! The farm was completely charming, the family super profesional but friendly also, and the food excellent. I recommend to take the diner here because is really good (homemade, fresh ingredients, authentic and hearty). The facilities are as changing as comfortable!

This was the best hotel on our road trip. The swimming pool was just perfect, the bar is open in the afternoon so you can enjoy beer, wine, or our favorite lemon soda. The place is divided into three buildings but that was not a problem. Very quiet locality with nice views and just half an hour to Monterosso. They also have chickens it was funny to watch and we even got eggs for breakfast. For breakfast, you can choose almost anything, very tasty. For dinner, there is also a restaurant in the main building with a different menu each evening. We really enjoyed the food and wine, you can get it even in the one-liter carafe. We really enjoyed our stay and totally recommend it. Our room was cleaned every day. It was also so much to go to the pool at the midnight.
We saw some spider nets in the ceiling, but that was not a big deal. On the other hand, the WiFi was very bad, we had almost no signal in our room and terrible speed. It is located on the hill and a little bit further from other cities so the vehicle is needed. The road was a little bit scary but a lot of fun, just be careful and watch for the holes and you will be all right. It's not that terrible.

Great dinner, nice breakfast with fresh eggs (everything else was mostly sweet foods in typical Italian fashion), the staff was really friendly.
It's more of a rustic experience, but we loved that our family room had a seperate room with a door so that we didn't all have to sleep in the same room as is sometimes the case. The AC was also really great to have!
Great views of lush and green forests. Very quiet. Loved the tasting menu for dinner served by the very charming lady of the house. It really feels like it's family run and authentic.
Overall it was a good value for what we paid and needed.
The road up to the property is steep, narrow and windy, so certainly an adventure to get up there.
Very low water pressure in the shower.
We felt that it's a beautiful spot and the property has potential, but could be more inviting/refined. There were some good ideas and nice touches among the rusticness!

I liked the nature and the wilderness around, as well as the view. The pool is a bonus, in the summer.
The last 800m to get to the property are on a very narrow and poorly maintained road, with steep slopes and no lateral protections.
Difficult to negotiate it by car during the day, unthinkable (for me at least) after dark. This makes dinner on site the recommended option.

This is a very nice place located at the end of a small 'mountain road' in the hills behind la Spezia and Cinque Terre. Super easy to get to from la Spezia in just 20 minutes drive and when you arrive there you are on the top of the hills with a beautiful landscape around you. The agriturismo is a group of 3 houses everywhere you have a fantastic view. We enjoyed a nice dip in the pool, sipping a Spritz with a view and then enjoying a nice dinner at their restaurant with local specialities. It's a full family run agriturismo, super friendly. One of the owner is the cook who prepared the great meal for very affordable price. Fully recommend this place, great place to relax after a busy day visiting Cinque Terre amongst many other tourist

If you will stay at this property, prepare yourself for an adrenalin drive,it's very uphill and the road is not very good. But the view to the surrounding hills is amazing. We liked very friendly owner and his family, dinner was awesome, air-conditioning working, very small tv, no fridge in room-that would be bonus.. Pool was working, bar too. It was great. Wifi superb!
For me, to much sweets for breakfast--I'm more in a meat person (ham or so) , but the owner prepared us fried eggs--very good.
Room could have mini fridge or something to keep drinks cold, but it was no problem,we talked to owner and he coled it for us.

Such a friendly and hospitable welcome, this is a small family run place with fabulous views and AMAZING food. Cannot recommend this place enough.

The view was nice and we could watch a thunderstorm with lightnings over Cinque Terre. Our room was big und we could park our car just next to the appartment.
The pool was a little cold and you had to hide in the water from the mosquitos, but it was nice after a long drive.
Dinner was nice, but, oh wonder, only the guests were dining there (wonder if others usually get to this remote location). Breakfast was also ok also, noting spectacular though.
We really had some troubles finding the hotel. Only google maps worked in the end, maps me didn't. It was down the mountain again and the way up was only for skilled drivers. But this was an adventure that we will remember.

Where do we start? Everything. The road leading to the houses is pretty steep but part of the charm.
3 houses, each one with its own colour, including a great swimmingpool and a restaurant. All with breathtaking views. A bar opens in the afternoon at the Pool for cool drinks and in the evening the restaurant serves dinner of high quality. Try the delicious degustation menu.
All of this is made possible by the family who build it and runs it. They are very lovely. Keep an eye out for Ricardo who will pop up everywhere in every function to help you in any way. It was great, thanks!
Sweet desert, no fresh fruit. Cheese or Meat. But! The sweet cakes and bread that was served was excellent!

Clean, spacious family room in a lovely natural environment, full of fresh air, and panoramic view on the mountainous area over La Spezia. There was a relaxing quietness as a contrast to the noise of the nearby 5 Terre (which are overrated if you are used to the beaches in Greece...) and the children loved the swimming pool! The host family was most welcoming and accommodating and I cannot say enough good things about the local dishes they prepare with their own farm grown produce. Dinner and breakfast were delicious! Be very careful as you drive up and down the narrow road of the mountain to the farm. Thankfully there is no traffic. We had a wonderful time and we recommend it!

We loved the story of this place, built around amazing family - two brothers and their families are running this place. They have two lovely dogs 🦮. They are all super friendly if you want to catch a conversation, ask for guidance or help. The best of all was the restaurant experience and the food that was just pure enjoyment. We stayed for two nights and ordered 'The menu' that was different each time. Make a reservation for the dinner in advance so the chef will be prepared 🍽️ And do not miss the vine aswell. I prefer white to red though. Fresh ingredients are used and I love the fact fresh spices were picked from the garden at the restaurant to bring additional amazing flavour to the food prepared. Also breakfast was very good: fresh croissants, biscuits, freshly baked bread, eggs, great coffee. Tons to pick from. The room was very nice, clean and comfortable. There are clean white towels available to use. We loved the pool and the aperols we ordered at the pool. The prices are very reasonable. We had a great time and are thankful for family's hospitality. And not to forget the views.... Wow
The first impression after a really bumpy and crazy road was not that good. There are three main houses each on one terrace, connected with stiff paved road. If you have a long car, bike extension at the back of your car or if your car is rather low, park on the first park spot beside the first building. The gardens around the buildings are not preserved if that is important to you. Do not trust the first impression, enjoy the place and definetely stay for the dinner!

Amazing location on top of a hill. Yes, to get their, specifically the last 250m is a bit of road, but no problem.
The most friendly and helpful staff you can wish for.
What was the best is that they produce their own food from vegetables, meat (beef, pig, chicken and rabbit) and olive oil.
And with that gray food they make the best menu ever!

The quiet, natural environment, the panoramic views over the surrounding hills, the swimming pool, the tasty dinner (every day a different selection of dishes on the menu).
The directions/signs to the property on the steep and narrow mountain road could have been clearer. The shower next to the pool was turned off most of the time. A staircase for a direct connection between the hotel and the swimming pool would have been more convenient.

We had an amazing stay at I Gelsi e i Castagni. It was a great base for trips to the Cinque Terre, Lucca, Pisa and La Spezia. After our day-trips going back to I Gelsi e i Castagni felt like coming home with its refreshing swimming pool, delicious food and, most importantly, the welcoming family running the agriturismo. We will definitely come back here when we visit Liguria again in the future.
