Lovely couple who own and run the place. Totally unexpected value for tbe money. Ended up staying another night because of it.

I’m a disabled person. I’m a full time wheelchair user. I contacted Arkale Lodge to check that access was available and they emailed back that access was no problem. When i arrived I couldn’t even get onto the path thanks to a 6” step. The owner did not give me a refund even though I asked twice. He organised an alternate venue which was just as inaccessible. I was left lost, alone, in a strange city with no money and an electric wheelchair rapidly losing its charge. I haven’t been so frightened in a really long time. Worse was to come on my return I’ve been trying to get my money back and two weeks on I still have nothing. As a disabled person relying on disability benefits £117 is a huge sum of money to me. They’re happy to leave me to food banks and charity. Don’t go. And if you have any impairment or additional needs, definitely don’t go.

Accurate assessment of inaccessibility. Customer service that actually helps a customer and compassion for the situation their actions cause. The property should be assessed for inaccessibility by someone who actually understands what accessibility is.

Friendly and helpful staff. Went above and beyond helping me with an extra night’s stay at the last minute. Excellent breakfast.

It is by a busy road and has a bus stop right outside so gets some littering on the street but that's not really within the control of the B&B.
