Bright, Airy, Spacious 2-bed/2-bath, Ground Floor - Aloha & welcome to Makanui @ Poipu Kai Resort. This wonderfully appointed 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom ground floor condo features an upgraded kitchen and bathrooms with granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and beautiful wood cabinetry. The master bedroom offers a king-size bed, a private large bathroom, 46' Flat Screen TV and its own lanai. The guest bedroom provides a king-size bed that can be re-configured as 2 twin beds. It has its own 36' flat screen tv and an adjoining bathroom. The second bedroom and bathroom can be completely separated for privacy, creating 2 king suites. The living room sofa couch has a pull out bed. We can accommodate up to a total of 4 guests aged 13 years or older and 2 younger children. A great breeze circulates throughout this spacious unit to keep it cool and cozy during your stay. Enjoy your favorite beverage & your latest thriller novel while sitting outside the wrap-around lanai; or simply relax, bask in the sun amid the peaceful garden and take in the garden/mountain view. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a coffee maker, blender and toaster. You can make pizza, spaghetti, bake cookies, and lots more. Plus a 2nd mini bar fridge offers you plenty of space for your beverages and snacks. There is also NEW full-sized washer and dryer in the unit for your convenience. Also there is plenty of free parking at the condo. Inside the condo, we have a beach closet that stows an ice chest, boogie boards, beach chairs, tennis rackets, balls, umbrella, beach bags, and, of course, beach towels. Feel free to use any of them - we simply want to make your stay as comfortable and convenient as possible. The Poipu Kai resort is surrounded by lush gardens, offering peace and privacy. A gas grill is available for your use just a few steps from the condo. The tropical walking paths throughout the resort are beautifully landscaped and lit for romantic evening strolls. If you like to play tennis, Poipu Kai has 8 full tennis courts that you can reserve for a small fee. For the golfers, Poipu Bay Golf (home of the PGA Grand Slam from 1994-2006) is less than a mile from our doorstep. The beaches are less than a 5-minute walk. Activities such as snorkeling, open-water swimming, body-surfing, kayaking, and surfing are offered at Brennecke's, Shipwrecks and Poipu Beach. Poipu Beach has a children's playground and a wonderful, calm and shallow beach suitable for younger children (Keiki Beach). Poipu Beach is rated as one of the world's best, and has lifeguards on duty everyday for your safety. Hike past Shipwrecks beach for beautiful scenery at the cliffs. As residents of Makanui, you have access to 2 pools. The Makanui pool is right outside our front door. The pool area has both sunny and shady areas, and is a great place to hang out with an ocean view. The Poipu Kai resort pool and hot tub is also available for you to use. And at the end of your fun-filled day, simply sit back, put your feet up and relax in our comfortable furnishings. Watch your favorite US shows on the flat screen TVs or surf the internet at no-cost. Within walking distance you can dine at Brennecke's Beach Broiler, Kalapaki Joe's (sports bar) or grab a quick bite from Brennecke's deli. I choose this property because I am disabled. This place worked well for me. I used a portable power wheelchair outdoors and a walker inside. There are no grab bars in the shower but it is big so I was able to bring my walker inside the shower for stability. Also no grab bar near the toilet but using the wall and my walker I managed. It wouldn't work if you are completely wheelchair-bound as there is no room beside the toilet. This is an older unit (like most in Poipu) but location and condition are exactly as advertised. Well equipped and quiet.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this condo in the Poipu Kai Resort. Our spacious and comfortable home away from home was conveniently located near a number of beautiful beaches (within walking distance) and the Grand Hyatt resort. Each evening we enjoyed strolling down to Poipu Beach to join the crowds gathered to watch the sunset. Our hosts, Darrell and Ida, were helpful and welcoming, making the check-in process a breeze. They also provided a comprehensive notebook including great suggestions for restaurants and activities on the island. My family and I made many happy memories during our stay.

This is the perfect condo for a family. It has 3 or more beaches and two pools within an easy walking distance with kids. Very clean and quiet condo complex.

Great Location. Easy access to beaches, pools and restaurants. Loved that all the extras you might need for a beach/pool day were available to use in apartment. And a bonus for me, this was the first VRBO that had enough hangers in the closet for me😜. We also loved that the pool the was a few feet from the apartment, rarely had people in it, so was almost like our own private pool!

We had a wonderful time staying in this rental. It was beautiful, comfortable and spacious. It had everything we needed for a family vacation at the beach. The pools were great and it was nice to be able to walk down to the beach in the evening and see the sea turtles.

We enjoyed running to the beach every morning from this unit! And each time, we were greeted by sea turtles resting on the sand. Love how close it was to Poipu Beach. Hall closet was furnished with boogie boards, extra towels, mostly all things beach related, and even things you probably didn’t have with you like extra water shoes and bug spray. Convenient to have a washer & dryer in the unit too.

We stayed here over Christmas and it was amazing. The condo had everything we needed. The beach closet was a nice extra that we utilized daily. We rented a car and were centrally located to everything we wanted to do. Poipu beach was our favorite and we went back to it everyday. The sunsets are superior. Being able to walk to the beach was also a nice treat. We will absolutely book this condo again when we return. Aloha!

This was absolutely a 5 star accommodation. Most important 5 star is the host. Darrell’s pride of ownership shines through in every aspect. The condo was clean and maintained. Darrell’s response time is amazing. And he goes above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. An example; we rented the condo for a month, so we were going to be doing a lot of cooking at home. I asked him if he had a crockpot there and he said he did but it had a little crack in it. So he told me to go on Amazon and pick a pot that I liked and let him know. And the day we arrived there was an Amazon delivery with the new crockpot that I had picked out.
The condo itself was perfect for us. Two couples, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. They have a door in the hallway so you can make the second bedroom and bath into a second master. No AC, no problem. Ceiling fans in every room and portable fans aplenty so you can put them where you need them. The condo sits where the cross breezes come through very good also. The kitchen was well stocked and having the extra little fridge was great. Staying for a month allowed us to shop at Costco and have plenty of room to store everything. One of my favorites was the lanai, it has afternoon shade so that was the place to be almost every afternoon. And the lanai has two tables and eight chairs. Big enough to stretch out on. Location was perfect for us. It’s an easy and every time beautiful drive to any activity or shopping location you need to go. My favorite was our daily morning walks. Five minutes and you were at the ocean no matter which way you headed out. And to see the resting turtles on the beach in the mornings was a real treat. The volunteers that are there to protect them have so much info they are willing to share, so be sure to ask any questions you have.
If opportunity allows us to go back, I would book this place in a heartbeat. I know that Darrell would once again make sure we are comfortable and well taken care of.

Everything from communication prior to the rental and the rental itself was seamless. The listing very much reflects the condo and its amenities. The kitchen was more than stocked for cooking most of our meals at the house. We had a crawling infant and the house was perfect for him to move around. The walk to the beach is easy although we did drive when we had lots of gear (thanks to the baby). The pool was lovely and we used it every day. We would happily rent this home again and will recommend it to anybody visiting the area.

What an amazing Stay. Our place was at a great location, within 20 to 30 minutes driving of almost anything. Lovely evening breezes kept our place comfortable. We didn’t use the pool though it was right at our doorstep. Would definitely stay here again. Communication was awesome.

My family and I had a great time in Poipu. The property was super comfortable, we felt right at home! I would definitely recommend this property to everyone! They offered plenary of beach chairs, towels, washer and dryer was key cause we kept out clothes clean the whole time!

The Perfect Getaway
This was exactly the island retreat we wanted. The beach gear made trips to the beach so enjoyable and all the tips and recommendations in the island guide were spectacular. The lanai faced east and always provided a beautiful breeze that kept the condo a lovely temperature.
