Amazing place, nice, clean and perfect!
Amal is so helpful and kind, the place is a paradise and we were sad to leave the beach and Sudo, the dog.

The location is superb - a lovely, private beach and the cabana (room) is just 60 m from the sea. The standard of the room is high. Having a private beach is an unmatched experience, however, staying at a place in Uppavely offers proximity to excellent restaurants and a great beach.
Although Amal, the manager, told me over the phone that there is a restaurant at the place, in reality, it does not work regularly. That is, you can get breakfast for additional payment if ordered the night before (most hotels in SL, certainly at this high price range, include a free breakfast in your stay), but normally, the restaurant does not function beyond providing a welcome juice.
Moreover, we were four and hence booked two rooms. In one of them the water boiler did not work. Amal came to check and said that "in this heat you don't need hot water" (we actually think it was necessary) and, after he could do Notting to make the boiler work he added: "if you want you can go somewhere else."
We somehow felt somewhat disappointed by this attitude.
Luckily there is another small hotel 200 m from his place which offers excellent sea food meals with tables 10 m from the beach. We had two magical dinners there. For breakfast and lunch, head for Uppaveli Cafe on the 18th - lunch and dinner, pricy but excellent) or Be cool juice bar for very good breakfast.

We had the most incredible end to our holiday around Sri Lanka here. The location was just what we wanted, quiet and peaceful, it felt like we have a private beach to ourselves. Amal and his son were so hospitable. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. It felt like we were in paradise.
If you don’t have access to transport, it can be quite secluded. Amal arranged scooter hire for us, so we were able to get out to shops and restaurants.

We had a very pleasent stay at Villa Nilaveli Cabana. The cabanas are spacious and convenient. The beach is beautiful, quiet and and therefore a lot of privacy.
The host Amal was very friendly and helpful in giving tips to explore the neighborhood. Each day he prepared very nice and fresh local breakfast and cooked for us once in the evening.
We would love to go back in the future!

We liked the place so much that decided to stay longer and spend more time at this amazing place. Our room was big, clean and comfy, with a nice terrace.Seabeds were also great,it was a pleasure to stay under palm trees and enjoy the beach - wide, clean, with absolutely no people around.A paradise for couples, families, lonely travellers who seek for absolute calmness. The territory is green and big,it feels like the whole space belongs to you.Breakfasts are good with fresh smoothies, coffee, eggs, some local bakery. We also enjoyed a massage that was offered to us right at the villa for a very good price-please ask the owner to invite the master for you.Near the hotel you will find That’s Why beach bar with best cocktails in Nilaveli and wonderful food+nice vibe and atmosphere. To try more authentic cuisine you will take tuk-tuk and easily travel to Uppuveli beach where you will find different restaurants and bars to have lunch or dinner.Or you can take a walk 40 minutes and find some cafes at Nilaveli beach. And last but not the least - the host of the Villa is a wonderful and modest man,but he does amazing job at the hotel and takes care of everything you need.At this hard time for Sri Lanka there are not so many tourists but all people that we met here are doing their best to make you vacation flawless. And of course, the dogs were super friendly:)
nothing at all, thank you Amal for an amazing stay.We will come back!

We've had a great time staying at the Cabanas. The room was fantastic, big and very clean, with beautiful furniture and quality linens. The owner Amal was very friendly, helpful and perceptive. The food was awesome and plentiful. The property is beautifully maintained and there are plenty of loungers and hammocks, a shower by the beach and water outlets by the buildings, great porches to rest on, friendly animals, body boards and kayaks and big soft waves and sand. We'd love to go back to spend more time there, such a peaceful place.
Everything exceeded our expectations.

Amal was the greatest host we could have hoped for. He was so helpful and kind and he made our stay in Nilaveli very special. He also made us dinner one night of prawn curry which was the best we had in our three weeks in Sri Lanka - the other reviews about his cooking are true! The cabanas are spacious and modern and the beach is beautiful and calm - there are comfy sun beds and hammocks for guests to use.
It is a bit far from some restaurants in town, but Nilaveli is very quiet anyway so it’s not like there is a town centre. By being further out the beach is very calm and clean and pretty much a private section of beach!

Amal is the perfect host. The accommodation is absolutely spotless and in the perfect location.
Out the door onto the pristine beach for a chill or swim. In our opinion this premises is at the best end of Nilaveli Beach.
Amal’s freshly made food is exception and he’s tips and recipes will be used for years to come.
Thank you for a perfect 4 day stay we will be back to this place.

We were the only guests but Aram made sure we were looked after. He helped us to organise a scooter and other transport. The cabana was spacious and comfortable. It was great having the beach to ourselves.
It's a bit out of the way, an hours walk along the beach to Nilaveli Town. In off season there isn't much else open nearby so can feel a bit isolated.

I decided to come here mid January, even though it was supposedly the monsoon season. I'm really glad I did! Amal is a wonderful host. His resort is right on the beach. It's gorgeous and quiet and I personally loved the quietness and the fact that it wasn't too touristy or busy. The small detached villas are large, extremely well equipped, private and comfortable. Big bathroom with excellent shower, comfy bed with both air-conditioning and ceiling fans (it was cool enough that I didn't need to use the aircon)
Excellent breakfast and Amal is an amazing cook. You must try his food when you stay here
Sun loungers and towels are provided at the very clean beach a few metres in front of the villas (the other beaches to the left are not so clean). The water was slightly rough but not that much more than what I experienced on the West Coast a few days previously. I managed to get into the sea every day.
Most importantly, the place is spotless and comfortable and I slept like a baby, which is rare for me.
In general it's cooler here and there's not as much hot sunshine per day as the west coast this time of the year but that suited me fine. I was able to go for long walks along the 9km unbroken beach without getting burned to death. For those that are looking for a busy, 'touristic and atmospheric' place, this is probably not for you at this time of the year. However, if you're looking for something much more relaxing and calm then I highly recommend this villa and area and Amal is a great person and host
Nothing. All great
