Bears Den: Private, Comfortable, Well Kept Cottage w Hot Tub overlooking River.
About this cabin rental
Located in Barnardsville, this charming cabin for R 2,590 per night is a fantastic choice for your next vacation. Bears Den cottage is located on a dead end mountain road backing up to the Pisgah Natl Forest, just N. of Asheville. It is just minutes from Navitat, WNC's only zipline!! The home is decorated to match the mountains, easy going and peaceful. Sit by the creek on the property or listen to the roar of the river below. There is hiking at Douglas Falls down the road. The lawn is beautifully landscaped with different varieties of flowers all season long. When in season, pick fresh blackberries and raspberries in the front yard. Enjoy a book or glass of wine on the wrap around porch or soak in the 6 person hot tub that sits up on a deck. The property is very secluded and quiet, yet close to many fun things to do...including whitewater rafting, gem mining, shopping, restaurants and the Biltmore Estate. It is the perfect vacation spot, we love it and know you will too. Behaved Pets welcome. Our Mission: It is our goal to provide you with everything that you will need to make Bear's Den your home away from home. If you have special requests prior to arrival, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. All you will need is your toiletries and food. Our Story: We operate Bears Den Cottage ourselves. We both have a background in hospitality including working at a 4 star AAA rated bed and breakfast in Colorado. We fell in love with Bears Den the first time we saw it. We have an excellent team of care takers that make sure it is just how we would have it. Bears Den has a magical feel to it...you can almost see the fairies dancing in the flower gardens. :) We sit on the porch for hours watching the birds, butterflies and humming birds and listening to the river below. The house is open and airy with a big picture window looking out into the forest. The cottage is decorated appropriately with bears, flowers and inspirational signs to make your trip the mountains relaxing and enjoyable. There is a good chance of seeing wild life at this property. We guarantee you will have an excellent time.

Visiting family in Weaverville we loved the cabin the hot tub at night was the perfect end to busy days. Just minutes from Asheville and many activities.

A very nice, quiet place to stay if you're looking to go to the Asheville area! The driveway is a little steep, but it's nothing most cars won't be able to handle. There's a stream near the house, so, if you like the sound of water, this could be the place for you. Even if you don't, for some reason, the inside of the house is perfectly quiet. It's a small cottage, but it's still very cozy! I would definitely suggest staying here if you're a couple or a small group, there's two decently comfortable beds.

I enjoyed the cabin and location. Happy that my doodle dog was allowed to come as well. The driveway was a bit of a challenge, however. We took our own bedding and towels, so we wouldn’t have to wait for washing machine.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The creek is an added bonus as the running water was so relaxing to listen to. I loved sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee listening to nature. Not a bad drive to downtown Asheville.

My husband and I chose the cottage in Barnardsville for a 25th anniversary getaway. The cottage was warm and cozy and surrounded by beautiful scenery! It was also a short 20 minute drive from Asheville and we were able to spend an afternoon at The Biltmore Estate. Ericka (owner) was easy to communicate with and the cabin came with all of the amenities that we needed! It was the perfect spot and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to getaway for a few days and relax!

During the day was great. We could see outside. It would help other guests if the driveway was marked better. We arrived at night and upon approaching the property was very dark…couldn’t see to unload our vehicle. Very dim lights outside. The hot tub was great but very vague operating directions. It was a nice weekend getaway for us but need brighter lighting and better instructions

The property was well maintained and they had made some enhancements with a new hot tub, and new exterior paint ( Its grey now looks great, but don't follow the pictures till they are updated). The place was warm, inviting with everything you need to relax and enjoy the panoramic views. The hot tub was refreshing and placed in cool spot like a tree house. It wasn't a bad drive at all to get to Asheville and to see all the sights. I would recommend to anyone coming this way.

A beautiful remote place!! We really enjoyed our stay. The only thing that could of made it better would be to possibly leave instructions on how to operate heat, TV etc. Also, some recommendations on nearby food options.

My husband and I enjoyed getting away from our small town in Western NC to go deeper into the mountains. We wanted a quiet place with a cozy atmosphere and amenities for relaxation. We got all of these things at the Bears Den Cabin with its location and hot tub. We recommend this cabin to anyone in need of a relaxing getaway to the mountains.

Bear’s Den was a quiet place, nothing fancy, in a pleasant setting. I enjoyed my stay.

This beautiful cabin is truly a gem. Located just 25 minutes north of Asheville, the secluded property really does give you the very best scenery to unwind and relax. My two girlfriends and I spent half of a rainy day reading on the porch, listening to the creek at the bottom of the property, and enjoying the sound of the rain on the roof. It is a very charming property, built in the 1920s, that truly feels modern with the updates the owners have done. It was very clean, a convenient drive to town, and Ericka could not have been more pleasant to work with. She was incredibly responsive to any updates I needed to send or questions I needed to ask. Do yourself a favor and visit! I know I will be coming back...

The peaceful location makes this a great weekend retreat. Check-in was easy, the cabin was very clean, and the WiFi worked well, which was important since I had to bring a little work with me.
The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen has all kinds of pots and pans for cooking. We especially enjoyed spending time drinking our morning coffee on the porch. Likewise, its proximity to Asheville made it close enough but away from the business of the city.

I didn't hang out at the place but it was a good home for a long weekend. Nice and peaceful.

We rented the cabin for a long weekend getaway over my daughter’s 11th birthday. It was peaceful and secluded while still being close enough to the activities that we did. I had a question and the property manager responded almost immediately and was very friendly. It was a great experience overall.

Awesome stay
This rental was absolutely perfect for a long weekend girls trip, the location was far enough out to give privacy and a true feeling of being out in the mountains, but close enough to Asheville and Black Mountain to make tourist visits for shopping and such doable. Absolutely would stay again.

We had a busy stay in Asheville but the cabin was calming - spring wild flowers, quiet, and nothing better than seeing a thousand stars while hot tubing. We even saw a small bear at the edge of the property one morning. Was a great retreat.

Wonderful Escape
We have been renting cabins around the Asheville area for several years. This was by far our favorite. We were impressed with the clean interior that was much more modern than any of the previous cabins we've rented. Plenty of towels, blankets, extra pillows, and small touches (books, children's toys) were available that really enhanced our stay.

Great Cabin Great Location
We loved our stay at the Bears Den!!! It was perfect for our anniversary getaway, especially because it was dog friendly. The cabin itself is a gorgeous rustic looking cabin nestled on a hillside, with a functional modern interior (full kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms, living room with wifi and tv, etc.)...plus, it's got a fabulous hot tub with an excellent view. The location of the cabin is remote enough to make one feel truly secluded but close enough to services that you can get to most things within 15 or so minutes (downtown Asheville, multiple hiking trails, groceries, etc.). Check-in was a breeze and the host was very communicative and answered any questions we had quickly. Would highly recommend this cabin for a couples getaway or for a small family vacation, and would definitely rent again if we're ever back in the area.

Lovely quiet retreat
I enjoyed the stay and the private setting. The place had not been cleaned when I checked in, which was a bummer. The host offered to send the cleaner the next day or give a discount and apologized, because there had been a mix up in the cleaners schedule. I thought the discount would have been a bit more than it was, but beyond this snafoo the stay was great. The hot tub was relaxing and the rushing creek was great efall asleep to.

Wonderful Mountain House Except for Water Smell
We loved our stay at this mountain cabin. We loved the setting and the cabin is cozy and had everything we needed. I absolutely loved seeing all the wildflowers. Hot tub was in good working order and a fun feature. Our only complaint is that while the cold water smelled and tasted good (and I'm very picky about water), the hot water smelled like sulpher. I hope they can fix that or figure it out soon and we'll be back.
