Visit the OBX: The Outer Banks: where a warm wind blows!! Acclimate yourself to the Outer Banks by seeing a couple of the famous sites in the area. The Wright Brothers National Memorial, located in Kill Devil Hills, pays tribute to the two brothers from Dayton, Ohio who successfully completed the first sustained powered flights in a 'heavier than air machine.' Walk the First Flight trail, and hear the park rangers give a recount of the famous event. Probably the most famous site in the area is the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. At 208 feet, the lighthouse is the tallest in the US. It was recently moved to prevent the sea from carrying it away. The lighthouse was commissioned in 1870 to prevent sailors from running aground on Diamond Shoals, a treacherous stretch of sandbars just off shore. The secret is out: the Outer Banks is full of fishin' holes. Anglers can employ surf and pier fishing, freshwater fishing, fly fishing, and inshore and offshore charter fishing to catch their favorite game. Golf in the Outer Banks is shaped by the terrain and the good humor of Mother Nature. Courses are reminiscent of Scottish links courses, and wind blown dunes rise up, seemingly out of nowhere, providing vigorous obstacles. Scuba divers flock to the Outer Banks visiting the more than 1500 ships that have sunk in the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Last but not least, the Outer Banks area is bird watching heaven. Over 400 bird species nest here at different times of the year.

Communication with host was impeccable along with accommodations. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend. PLENTY of space to spread out with a large party and a dog. Perfect OBX setting. Front porch to people watch and back porch for inclement weather. Short & beautiful walk to beach. Downstairs was perfect for our teenager and the hand painted pictures were a special added touch. We very much felt at “home” for our stay and can’t wait to return again! Thanks Carl & Sherry!!

The property was very neat and the owners were fabulous, couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were very attentive to anything that was needed and offered to supply us with things we needed if they had it. They even offered us an additional night free, which was a pleasant surprise. I would highly recommend this property.

Awesome house, the downstairs room was great for our son and his girlfriend. Close to Beach, owner was very good to work with - very hospitable! House was clean, well stocked, very comfortable! We enjoyed our stay - will look at using it for next year!

The communication with the owner was spot on! Coming down during/after a tropical storm they not only went to check the property, sent us pictures but also made it as easy as they possibly could for us. The house is in a cute little neighborhood just a few minutes walk from the beach and we’ll stocked kitchen. Definitely a great find for a last minute Labor Day weekend trip

We had a wonderful week in KDH at this property! Owner was very helpful and communicative! Responded quickly to my many questions. Very clean house. Lots of room, downstairs room was great. Plenty of supplies available (dishes, paper towels, TP, etc.) HIGHLY recommended!

The pictures were spot on and location was perfect for a beach vacation. The kitchen had every possible thing we could have needed, so cooking was wonderful. Would definitely stay again and the owner was the consummate host..

First time to The OBX.Traveled with Family to Kill Devil Hills. Weather was great. The place we stayed was very central to all our activities as well as a 3min walk to a great beach. The house we rented was clean, and had every thing we needed. The best compliment i could give is that we would rent from this owner again!

Mixed family stayed, plenty of room for everyone. Nasty weather week, screened, covered back porch/deck was an added feature. Could sit out there and watch the weather and beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Owner very communicative and willing to do anything we needed (didn't need anything). Better stocked than what we have previously experienced!

The house was very clean and had everything my family needed. The walk to the beach was only a couple of minutes. Great beach house, would stay here again. Carl was very helpful and responsive.

Loved this property, me and my husband and our 5 kids (20,16,13,7,&5) and my parents all stayed and fit perfectly! Kitchen is well stocked to make meals and it was great to have a living room and dining area that everyone could easily fit in and not feel crowded! Carl was great and so easy to communicate with! A super short walk across to the beach! Can’t wait to stay again!

Great property for visiting the upper Outer Banks region. House was on a quiet street, 1-1.5 blocks from the beach--an easy, quick, walk. Close to some restaurants, groceries and ice cream - a lot in a walkable distance. Sadly, no ocean view as there is a hotel in the way. Property itself was very clean. Carl was great with communication and was more than willing to make sure we had a comfortable stay. Beds were comfy.
Kitchen was well stocked with cooking supplies and utensils. Blender, crockpot, pots, pans, toaster, coffee maker. Plenty of plates, cups and silverware for large groups. For price and convenience, I wouldn't give this property a 2nd glace! Book today!

This is a great spot!! Close walk to the beach, around the corner from a cool brewery, and lots of great restaurants within a few miles! The host was easy to communicate with and check-in/out was easy! The home was well-equipped and comfortable - we had a great stay!

My review - This was our first VRBO rental. I couldn't have been happier. The home is near restaurants and grocery stores. My kids said they each could have brought a friend and still had room. The owner was pleasant, helpful and in contact when needed. We plan to check for this rental when we go to OBX next time.

Our group enjoyed our first trip to Outer Banks immensely. Carl & Sherry's house did not disappoint. Everything was very comfy, clean and well kept. We were close to the beach and all other fun things to do. They were quick to respond to any questions we had prior to our trip. We are already talking about planning one for next year.

Great family vacation
We loved our stay. The location was awesome with the beach and restaurants all walking distance. The home had a well stocked kitchen making it easy for our family of 8 to prepare meals. We definitely would come back!!

Nice Place for the price
Overall a good space for the price and literally took us only like 4 minutes to walk to and be on the beach via public access point. Also walking distance to a McDonalds, with a Harris Teeter and a Food Lion within a mile, and Starbucks in the Harris Teeter. The laundry was in the ground floor unit with its own bedroom and a large screen TV and a comfy Queen Bed. The owner was awesome to work with and very responsive to our needs.

The beds were especially comfortable. The open great room is where we spent most of our time, and I already miss those couches, perfect for lounging.

Note for next time: bring beach chairs along with lots of cousins and in-laws. This is the house to fill up with fun!
