I am very thankful to have been at this property during Hurricane Fiona! It is sturdy and stood up well against the gale-force winds and rain. As mentioned in another review, the downstairs did flood because of the rain, but Jason, the caretaker next door, was able to quickly come by and shopvac the water out. I appreciated how quickly both Jen and the Evolve team reached out to us to make sure we were safe and secure.
The upper floor was perfect for my small family. We had plenty of sleeping options and having meals together at the table was a plus. There were card and board games to keep us entertained while the power was off which was super helpful for distracting us from the issues around us.
There's not much you can do about it, but be ready to wake up at 4am with the chorus of roosters in the neighborhood. There's a flock on the property and they are loud! But they're also fun to watch. A couple dozen chicks were hatched while we were there!
Once it was ok to get out and about, we found the location to be perfect for heading either across the north or east shores easily. Walmart and lots of other retail is only a mile away and there are tons of places to eat nearby.
If you're ok with mountain instead of ocean views, this quiet, working class neighborhood is a great respite.

This place exceeded our expectations. The house accommodated our family. The the deck area in the back yard was perfect for barbecuing during the day and star gazing at night. The location was perfect for us as well since it was in a nice barrio secluded from the noise of the city but a short drive to the Kioskos in Luquillo.

Not a great experience
House is beautiful, but definitely needs upgrades-mainly downstairs. Bathtub needs a GOOD cleaning & regrouting. I showered with flip flops on. Had to put several ant traps because of the amount of ants invading the kitchenette area. Leakage of water was the worst. There was a hole on wall near washer/ dryer that caused the entire downstairs to flood when it rained. Also had water coming in thru the sliding doors, the sink & the closet. Not exciting having to take away from your vaca to sweep out ATLEAST an inch of water out. When called the maintenance person, was told nothing could be done until it stopped raining, just to find out afterward that he was right next door. Still nothing was done. Management company called & said someone would be coming by the following day to fix the issue- NOONE ever came nor called. Next day after finally drying out floor, woke up to another poodle of water near sink in which my son slipped & fell on. Reported this to mgmt whom I got a call from stating they were investigating the issue & would send me an email. Already back home & haven't heard a peep from anyone. The night before check out the screw from toilet tank broke off & once again ANOTHER water mess. Called maintenance several times- no answer. Called next # which happened to be the owner Jen. I explained all situations occurred which she basically brushed off & not a single apology for any of it. Sent someone to "fix" the problem, except whom she sent was the landscaper who didn't have the correct tools to do anything about it. At this point I had enough, called Jen back and because she didn't like what I had to say - hung up the phone on me. Never again!

I would not recommend driving a car up the hill, you can park at the end of the driveway. It's a safe and quiet neighborhood.
The second floor bathroom is quite small so thankfully there's a much bigger bathroom downstairs, other than that it was comfortable for a group of 7 adults. Some updates could be made, specifically the curtain rods.
Overall we had a great experience. There was plenty of bedding, pillows, towels, the kitchen was stocked with plates and utensils. I would recommend including a clothes iron for future guests, we traveled with ours.
Mid-afternoon traffic due to construction was horrible but in general was heavy in the mid-afternoon, so plan accordingly. If you go to Cafe Rustico, plan to wait for a while to get your meal.
There are a lot of excursions nearby, San Juan Condado is 40 minutes away, Puerto del Rey, Fajardo is 20 minutes away. El Yunque, Hacienda Carabali and much more are close by! If you're looking for a nightlife (not "Salsa" dancing), the kioskos are only 20 minutes away. Check out #45 on a Friday or Saturday night. The beach is also behind the kioskos if you just want to relax.

Troop 119 Scouts and Adult Leaders can't thank Ms. Jen Hobbs enough for an amazing first-time VRBO experience.
-Ms. Jen was timely in responding to our questions prior to the trip, ensuring the check-in/check-out instructions were understood, and overall pleasant to coordinate with.
-Location of home was key decision point for our Troop . The home is located near Walmart and the main Highway 3. Most of our planned activities were in the local area (El Yunque National Park- Camp Restoration Project, Hiking, Bioluminescent Bay Kayaking) and Old San Juan area.
-The home was clean and equipped with the needed essentials to include a few extra bonus comforts - A/C and WIFI. There was plenty of room for our Scouts (used the extra futon and air mattress provided) and the 2 full bathrooms came in very handy.
-The driveway is VERY steep and we did not attempt to drive rental Van up/down. Instead we parked at the bottom entrance area within view from the house.
-One suggestion we have for future home improvements is to install a door handle inside of the top floor's main door.
"We highly recommend this home for groups!"

Beautiful views, sounds and location was good. Poor lighting in kitchen. No outlets in bathrooms. We had to scrape the stove top and it was not clean. Showers were dirty. Floors were sandy. The biggest thing was the upstairs was very separate from the downstairsand from the pics that was not apparent. Wouldn't stay here again.

Loved the views at night. Quiet area. House had many hidden amenities. Canopy, beach chairs, cooler, snorkel sets, Rc monster truck, etc. Kids had a ball. Overall a great place for the price. Thanks!

This was my kid’s first time to the island. We needed a spacious place as we were two families. While it was just a little difficult finding the location I was able to call Jen who was more than helpful in guiding us there. They warn you of the steep drive way, but don’t take it lightly because it is STEEP! Checking in was a breeze and once inside we were more than happy with the appearance and cleanliness of the home. There were many things left there for convenience and ease. There were toys and lots of board games for the kids entertainment. We arrived at night but the view the next morning was absolutely amazing. Overall we had an awesome time and made memories that will last a lifetime. ❤️

New years
Wonderful stay
Defiantly could use a broom and a mop especially as tiles are slippery with the rains
If you stay for New Years be prepared to be in it with the locals
Wow!

A hidden gem
This home not only fits many guests but it also has great potential for development. The mountain views are amazing because it is nestled deep in a "barrio" surrounded by mountains. We loved listening to the coquíes every night and the roosters every morning (although the roosters wake us up earlier than my alarm clock). The kitchen and sitting area are spacious enough to have larger gatherings. The owners are very responsive and caring. We visited 2 years after Hurricane María and unfortunately, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done around the island- this was also evident in this neighborhood, but it did not stop us from enjoying it. Recommendations for improvements:
1. develop the backyard (small pool, playground set, etc?- plenty of potential)
2. humidifier in the downstairs space
3. Improve A/C ventilation system for upstairs space (it would get a little toasty in the bedrooms at night)

Location, location, location
I had a great time in Loquillo and Fajardo! The house is within the mountains so great views from the front porch. The rainforest is a short drive and so is most all major stores. Grocery stores within a few minute drive. Walmart, beautiful beaches, restaurants, the Loquillo Kiosks, a bio- bay, fishing everything is close! The home is clean with all the creature comforts and then some. Plenty of clean towels, laundry, even soap, shampoo and conditioner! Plenty of room with a duplex feel so multiple families would be able to stay at the same time yet have their privacy. Highly, highly recommend this place!!!
