A stay in the past, with modern quality

Retains all the flair of a (strong) heritage building, but with all pampering and quality of a modern one.

Not all rooms are same standard.

A time warp luxury Heritage experience.

An amazing heritage hotel, that really embraced its Gujarat heritage. Not just another boring chain hotel. Location was superb within the original old town area, indeed offering walking tours of all the remaining world heritage rated housing. Huge complex, fully restored to its original status, but incorporating all the modern facilities expected in a tourist hotel.

We only stayed one night - if I had have known how great this place was, I would have booked an extra night

Great friendly stay.

Friendliness, and very good value for money.

1. Very little storage space if one is staying longer than 2-3 days, as we were. 2. Room service was a bit tardy, on a couple of days we had to remind them 3. Location is very good, but, conversely, it's an overly crowded area, so can't walk around easily.

Not going there to stay again

The place has its old world charm. A must go for people looking to revisit the past. Location is good as its in the old city

AC was working the bedroom but was not cooling. I had to switch off the ceiling fan as it was very noisy and was interfering with my sleep. Had to finally sleep on the couch in the living room where the two ACs were cooling well. As soon as it got light there was a lot of traffic noise coming from the road outside my bedroom window. Managed to get only three hours of sleep. The check in was not pleasant as I was asked to pay in advance before I could even go to my room. Not too many options for breakfast.

Soul-full !

The entire experience of living in a building that has a beautiful vibe of our traditions and culture. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The best part was the photographs that are displayed that take us back to our freedom movement days and into the era of Gandhiji, Mangaldasji and Ambalal Sarabhai. It is alive with our heritage that one is so proud of.

A sitting on ground meal experience that was so much part of the tradition in the Founder's era!

High ceilings - ultra heavy thick wooden double doors -- ornate mirrors and scenic greenery.

Its a truly heritage hotel. The decor and the artefacts are a treat to the eyes. In fact, I spent almost an hour just photographing all the rare sculptures and puppets and mirrors all over the hotel. An illustrated version of the Bhagavad=Gita is kept at the hotel. The gardens are very well maintained.

Just one thing -- There was no Shower curtain in our bathroom. Yes, It was just me and my daughter -- Even then, many of us prefer to have an opaque shower curtain .

Fantastic heritage property with old world charm and hospitality. Great breakfast too!

Coffee could be better. More vegan options for drinks needed, but plenty for vegan food.

Very special atmosphere. A very good example of an outstanding renovation of a traditional architecture. Breakfast is fresh and tasty, staff is always keen to help and location is great.

One has to come to experience The House of MG , so far my best stay i found on booking.com

Heritage -> Haveli -> Homely

The staff was friendly and helpful. Services were to the point as well. Truly a heritage stay, haveli feeling gives you a home feeling and inviting guests to meet was enjoyable as well.

Being a heritage site, construction is old so in the bathroom, water gets collected as certain spots due to levelling issues.

Amazing stay in Ahmedabad

Absolutely stunning heritage hotel in the centre of old Ahmedabad. The room was beautiful, as was the pool. Had two excellent meals in the restaurants. We were really pleased and impressed - wish we had been able to stay there longer!

Not much to complain about! The mattress was quite hard, and we had a connecting door to another room which wasn’t very soundproofed.

A truly spectacular Hotel that oozes the wonders of old india

The House of MG is simply breathtaking! As a family we stayed here for 15 days and we did not regret choosing this hotel. It’s unique old heritage style architecture on the outside mixed with it vintage india decor on the inside makes it a spectacular place to stay. The ambience transcends you back to what old india was like but at the same time provides you with all the modern amenities you need and more! The location is bang on central which allows you to travel to anywhere in Ahmedabad in no time. The restaurants are mind blowing. The infamous Agashiye rooftop restaurant serves outstanding vegetarian all you can eat Thalis. Don’t miss out! The open air Green House cafe serves you devine breakfast, lunch and dinner with traditional Gujarati and World dishes. The ambience is amazing! The best part of the hotel is its impeccable service ethic. The guest is their number one priority from room service to catering to security to front of house. Whatever you want or need, it’s delivered without fail and with genuine love and care. I can’t end this without some notable staff mentions who went out of their way to treat us like their extended family. Heartfelt thank you to Chirag and Parul from the Green House, Harsh S, Hasmukh and Pawan S from house keeping, Bradal, Prakash and Urvesh from Front of House and the wonderful Bharatbhai from security. The House of MG was truly home away from home and we can’t thank enough everyone who works there for their hospitality and endless care of me and my family.

The Swimming pool although beautiful is a waste. It’s located in a very uninviting area of the hotel and in my 15 days there I didn’t see anyone using it. They really need to do something about this.

Great place to stay , worth any penny

Great place very beautiful, one should go around amazing decoration. The room are big , clean , great shower and the soap smell amazing , after 10 days tripe it was like coming to heaven. The restaurant serving serving high quality of Indian food not as cheap as any other restaurant but worth it.

So beautiful, historical and creative! The decoration is amazing and the pool is enchanting. Would totally come back!

There is a school next door, so it’s a bit noisy by morning time. Check in took more time then they said.

The size of the room was nice

The in room dining experience on day 1 was horrible. I asked for a chaat with chutney and they forgot to add the chutney. The 2nd day was equally bad. I ordered for something and they did not provide it.

Beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The staff and the food offering let the place down.

Our room was spotless. cleanliness throughout the hotel was immaculate. Room facilities and spaciousness. Location

The staff although very friendly and helpful lacked training and efficiency. Breakfast was uninspiring compared to other hotels of this standard.

rooms and common spaces are really beautiful. spa is offering a good quality service

service in the restaurant on the ground floor is poor. the staff is slow, lazy and not interested to work. cleaning service is slow and clumsy too.
