We stayed at Amanta Beach Resort for two nights and wished we would have stayed for a week! The property is beautiful and private but close enough to Nilaveli & Trinco that you could take a Tuk Tuk if you needed to. The rooms were spotless, beautiful, and everything worked perfectly (including the air con). As previous reviewers have said, the beach is your own little private slice of paradise. We were there a few weeks before the heavy season, so the seas were a bit rough, but we spent many hours lounging in the chairs on the sand!
The food was amazing too! We had dinner one night and it was one of the best meals that we've had on our year abroad. The owner/chef comes out and explains everything and tells you where he got the ingredients from (mostly his on-site garden).
Shyakthi and his staff make this place what it is! They all go above and beyond to make sure you're enjoying yourself and that you're comfortable. They put a lot of time and energy into the entire experience and it shows. There is a reason this hotel is rated 9+ on Booking and you should definitely come see for yourself!
It was perfect! We wished we could have stayed longer.

In advance, we booked a total of three nights and canceled the stay after two nights. We had decided on Amanta Beach due to the great reviews and the beautiful photos. The accommodation looked as described and looked clean at first glance. Unfortunately, we found a dead cockroach in the room on the first evening (photo attached). The manager came immediately and helped us. And said that he didn't know where the problem came from. The next evening we found the next cockroach, but alive. Then we let you know again and said that we want to give out the next. Last night could be cancelled but still had to pay the full price. In addition, we had no hot water on the first and last day and the WLAN worked really badly and was slow. The whole staff was very helpful and friendly. Otherwise, the accommodation looked clean and the breakfast was appropriate. Nevertheless, the beach was really nice and clean. Unfortunately, we would still not recommend the accommodation and would never come back ourselves.

Recommended gourmet French-Sinhalese fusion dinner. Great design and attention to detail. Exceptional toiletries. Quiet, clean and comfortable private beach.
Unacceptable 3% charge on card payments for such an upscale hotel (similar hotels in SL just absorb it). Wi-Fi reception is poor and slow, both at hotel lobby and rooms. Breakfast plates are served one plate after the other, mixing savoury and sweet. Maybe they could be served around the same time, allowing guests to decide what to eat first.

The beach is beautiful. You can relax all day. The food was good. The dinner is also very special, nice and tasty (but a bit pricy for Sri Lanka).
The staff was always friendly and helpful.
The room is spacious and nice. The bed is also comfortable.
If you don‘t like to stay at a very remote place, you shouldn’t come here. But it‘s very nice to relax.

Firstly, the food was superb and we were excited every evening to see what we would get. The fresh tuna sashimi, wild-caught prawns, eggplant with pineapple and the soups were some of our favourites! Every meal had a unique twist and you can see how much pride and love goes into the cooking. We also loved the home brewed ginger beer!
The location was beautiful right on the beach and the hotel facilities are lovely and very relaxed. Spacious and private rooms. Lovely service by the staff. We will definitely stay again!!
WiFi was a bit spotty, but the staff went above and beyond to get this working again (even giving us a personal router in our room so we could do some work calls).

Tharuka is an excellent host and chef. He runs the place with sooooo much love. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was amazing, don't miss it! The beach is gorgeous, and the the entire property is aesthetically pleasing.
The location was a bit far from town, but tuktuks can be arranged and bike rentals are also available.

- staff: everybody was super friendly & helpful, always smiling and it was nice to watch the staff having fun together, it caused a very familiar vibe and it was nice to talk to all of them, you all are doing a great job, thank you so much!! :)
- dogs: we loved hanging & playing around with the 2 dogs at the beach, they belong to the hotel and are soooo friendly, it just made our stay even more special as we love being around animals
- facilities: everything was clean and working, we had a kettle, hairdryer & fridge in the room and there was even a torch which was quite handy in the evening
- location: exactly what we were looking for, remote enough that we could unwind but not too much far away so we still could do some trips like going snorkelling at the Pigeon Island and visit a few temples in Trincomalee
- food: delicious, I would recommend to have the 4-course-dinner at least once and if you do so, just have something small for lunch as it's quite a lot
- beautiful quiet beach, there was nobody else except the 2 dogs and another 4 guests, you really have the beach on your own and the water is super nice, even in the afternoon
I can highly recommend this place, you should definitely stay there for at least 3 nights to be able to really appreciate this special place! *.*
I am very picky now but for this price I would expect more up to date sun beds at the beach as this hotel is supposed to be a beach hotel with it's quite remote location and own beach area. The sun beds were quite rusty and a bit wobbly but with the context of the economical crisis last year I could imagine that they don't have the financial resources to fix this at the moment. I still could enjoy the beach experience without any issues ;)

The location is perfect, its clean and quiet. The hotel itself has the most beautifully maintained garden, very serene and clean. The rooms are very clean with strong aircon and a fan. The beach is a few steps away from your room. The restaurant area is beautiful, overlooking the sea.
The staff are exceptionally friendly accommodating and the dinner in highly recommend. You can feel the passion and care they put into the food they make. The menu changes everyday and its an experience not to be missed. We felt fully refreshed after our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer.
If you're looking for somewhere calm, beautiful with great food and easy access to other beaches to explore this is a great spot.
Nothing, it was all great.

Kindest staff, going to sleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean and birds.
It’s a bit remote which is perfect if you want to get away from the crowds.

We had an awesome stay at Amanta Beach. What made it special was especially the extrem friendly staff. The owner was the best - thanks for being so kind and helpful 🙏 We really liked the pool and the short way to the beautiful and clean beach. You can eat at the restaurant (the owner of Amanta Beach is the chef of the restaurant as well) for 20$/person. The food is high quality and very tasteful! For us as we are backpackers Amanta Beach was our last place to stay before leaving Sri Lanka so we‘ve chosen something more comfortable and expensive - and it was worth it for us ☺️ To safe some money we went outside for dinner at two (of four) evenings. You need to take a Tuk Tuk because the next city is around 7km far. Just ask at the reception and they will organize a Tuk Tuk for you (without commission).
That we couldn’t stay longer and needed to leave their little Puppy there 🥺

we loved our stay at Amanta Beach. The staff are extra friendly and couldn’t do enough for us.
Our room was perfect, own garden, our very own pool, 2 large bedrooms and the most amazing air con!!
The hotel is very clean!
The food was beautiful!
The beach is amazing!
Would 100% recommend this hotel and Sri Lanka to anyone!
Nothing!

It has the most amazing beach I’ve ever been to! The whole place is beautiful and peaceful. The owner and staff were very very kind and helpful, always making sure everything was ok.
No Wi-Fi in the rooms and restaurant and lots of insects in the rooms

nice place and super host !
clean rooms, nice sunbeds, amazing big breakfast.
as Dinner you can have a 4 course menu for 20 dollars.
towels new if you ask, room was cleaned every day 👌🏼
all in all is the Food a bit over priced for Sri Lanka.
not much - only the shower in our room was not working well.
everything else was super nice !

Our best hotel in Sri Lanka! The place is beautifully decorated, comfortable and the manager does not spare his time to help. The staff is great too.
We also enjoyed a great Ayurvedic massage by a professional certified nurse. The beach is very peaceful, perfect to rest and close to Pigeon Island.
Food was delicious, especially dinner.
We simply loved our stay at Amanta!

The Hotel owner sent a tuk tuk to pick me up at the train station and I was welcomed very warmly with a refreshing towel and a delicious welcome drink.
I was shown my room and the facilites an was informed about breakfast/dinner times as well as additional services.
The room was very nice furnitured and decorated, which made you feel at home instantly. The shower facility is extraordinary. I was provided with shower as well as beach towels. There are also moskito nets available for your convenvience.
As the food is shopped daily and seasonaly you have to give a short notice about having dinner and breakfast each day. The 4 course dinner menu might be a bit pricy for some travellers but is definitely worth the money. It varied daily and was delicious as well as very nicely presented and always introduced be the owner. I loved the caramelized banana with the (propbably homemade) vanilla ice cream.
I also liked the concept of the restaurant, the airy atmosphere and aprreciated the daily effort of decorating the table with flowers.
There are shady huts at and a shower facility at the beach, which is pretty convenient for travellers with kids. The beach is calm and a open landscape. There are some fisher men huts close by, but there are not bothering at all. In my opinion it makes the place just a bit more vivid and gives you a insight into the local living.
There is also a wide, shaded space in front of the rooms with swimming pool and lounge facilities as well as a beautful garden view.
The owner helps you to contact tuktuks and scooter rental but let details be organized within you and the provider as he does not want to be involved in any issues. Which was quite ok with me.
Also you can arrange massage at the location which is very nice and relaxing.
The owner and the staff are doing a great job to make your stay a relaxing and extraordinary experience.
It might bother some guests that there is no free wifi in the rooms. But it is always available at the reception and lounge area.
Personally I think it is a shame to waste your time being online in your room, when there is such a beautiful surrounding waiting for you outside.

We had a super stay at Amanta. I loved the decor throughout, there was so much attention to detail and creativity in each room. The bar was made using an aeroplane wing! There were frangipani flowers on the bed when we arrived and always some on the dinner table. The staff were super friendly and there was a plentiful breakfast and excellent dinner. I highly recommend this place.

Not a thing to complain about. We had a great time.

Beautifully designed boutique resort right in front of the beach. It’s a different concept and we just love it. Tharuka is a great host and give you all the information you need and the team thank you for making us feel at home. Definitely we will be back.

Just perfect.
Felt like home from the first second on. With nice little apartments just about 50 meters away from the beach the perfect place to stay when in nilaveli.
The personal is super nice and tries every second to make your stay as comfortable as possible.
Last but not least has the chef amazing cooking skills.
Sure the best „home“ on our trip through sri lanka.
Thanks for everything!
