Atmosphere, luxurious room, added tea's and sherry. Food is superb, very close rooms to where you eat, lovely setting. Wife liked the large bed and mattress , very comfortable. washing bath and shower excellent size.

Personally I had no issues. Wife bemoaned emergency green light above door although it didn't affect her sleeping. The wash basin sink cold tap she couldn't turn on and the water was not as hot as she wished for the bath, although I put that down to others also using the water at that time as there was five other couples staying adjoining to us.

Only negative was the fire alarm going off at around 7:30am in the morning.

We enjoyed a very comfortable stay - Killingworth Castle fitted perfectly with our plans! The room was very clean and warm - the breakfast was excellent. To be thoroughly recommended!

We were not aware that the kitchen closed at 6pm on a Sunday! We were fine but I do think this needs to be flagged up by the property when booking for a Sunday evening. There is no other obvious eating places nearby!

Room was lovely and check in etc all good.

It was expensive compared with rooms two miles away in Woodstock.

We had a great stay where the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was excellent and the bedroom clean and cosy. We weren't aware of the quality of the restaurant before booking and were pleasantly surprised!

Better sound insulation in the bedrooms would have been a plus as can hear footsteps etc.

Staff are all excellent, evening meal and breakfast also excellent quality. Bed very comfortable

Room was good, unfortunately sleep was disturbed throughout the night by what sounded like a very noisy/broken pump of some sort which reverberated throughout the whole room intermittently.

Our room in the building next to the pub was cosy, had high beamed ceilings and was clean and tidy. Breakfast was excellent and the pub was very cosy, warm and inviting

The car park exit was steep and on one occasion I scraped the underside of my car on it, second time around I exited with much more caution and was able to not experience this issue again. The bedroom room lighting could have been brighter.

Had a fabulous weekend stay. The pub, restaurant and the rooms were outstanding. The staff were all very friendly and went above and beyond.

The location was beautiful, was quiet and peaceful, lovely room and was good value. All the staff I came in contact was very polite and friendly, and nothing was to much trouble, the food was exceptional too. I would definately recommend for a short break.

Lovely stay in a beautiful setting. The kitchen at the property had a fire which then closed the kitchen and the pub was only open for a short time each day for drinks but closed before 8pm. Had to then get taxis into nearest town, which put £36 on Stay each night. Unexpected extra cuts as we had no idea the restaurant or pub was closed before we arrived. Also no cooked breakfast which is a treat for us when away for a break. Just Continental breakfast . Staff were extremely helpful but not a lot of knowledge about local restaurants. When this beautiful place is back to normal it will be well worth a visit. Rooms beautiful, clean and loved the extra touches especially the Sherry on the room.

Just restaurant was closed and had no idea until we arrived.

The room was great, smelt a little damp but very comfy bed and nice bathroom.

However very disappointed that the restaurant wasn’t open. This is the only reason we chose to stay. I wasn’t informed until after the booking was confirmed. We couldn’t order any food so had to drive to get a very average take away dinner, when we chose to stay there and try a Michelin star restaurant. Very disappointing.

Lovely little escape away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to the main attractions in Oxfordshire. Will definitely stop again when we next visit Oxford and the surrounding areas. Great food and rustic accommodation.

Couldn’t find a fault

Room 8 had a large patch of mold by the door.... making it very musty ....also found Housekeeping had forgotten to dust the headboard or the cobwebs !
