About this villa rental

Description The villa was built in 2008, as a family holiday home. It is set on a hillside in Vidikovac (means 'beautiful view'), a friendly, small rural village, 4.5km from the historic town of Kotor, which is a World Heritage site. It is spacious inside (220 sq. m.) and set in a plot and garden of over 1,000 sq. m. The garden has a variety of plants and trees, including a palm tree, fig and lemon trees, rose bushes, kiwi plants and vines. In the garden there is a shady terrace, two sun terraces and a barbeque so it is possible to find either sun or shade (on balcony or terrace) all day. There are sun loungers and deckchairs. There are two tables and chairs\bench for eating outside. There is also a stone table and benches near the barbeque, which is also a viewing point over the Bay of Kotor. The private swimming pool is 8.5m x 4.5m, and a maximum of 1.62m deep, with steps suitable for children at its shallow end. It is screened by stone walls and wooden trellising on two sides, with roses. It is cleaned weekly. Inside, the open-plan sitting room and kitchen on the upper floor and three of the four bedrooms offer spectacular views over the Bay and Kotor. Cruise ships are a daily sight. Entered by a private driveway, it has ample car parking for 2 or 3 cars and has a single garage. The private pool, terraces, garden and barbecue area are landscaped, with attractive walling, made of local stone. The stunning sitting room is 10.5m x 9m, with high, open beams, log stove and air conditioning. The fully-equipped kitchen and dining areas form an integral part of it. The sitting area has a 32' screen TV & DVD, a sound system, one 3-seater settee, two 2-seater settees & armchair, all leather, two more IKEA armchairs and a dining table (seats 8) It has air-conditioning and light and views from 3 sides, The kitchen has a modern electronic oven, hob, microwave, dishwasher, a large larder refrigerator with chilled water facility, black marble work surfaces, kettle, toaster, blender and ample plates, cutlery and other equipment. Downstairs, there are two double bedrooms (both en-suite with shower), two twin bedrooms and a double (movable) futon. They sleep 9. All the bedrooms have fans and mosquito plugs. Bedlinen and towels are provided. There are 2 more a\c units at this level. There is also a family bathroom with bath and shower and a heated towel rail. All 3 bathrooms have bidets. Free internet access is available throughout the house Location The villa, set at about 350 metres above the Bay, usually has a welcoming breeze in the summer heat. The nearest airport is Tivat, 5kms away. Podgorica Airport is 90kms and Dubrovnik Airport 71 kms. The nearest bus station is in Kotor, 4 kms away. The nearest restaurant is 500 metres. The nearest supermarket is 3.5 kms. Location description A hire car is advisable, though local taxis in and around Kotor are cheap (70 cents per km). Local buses from the bus station at Kotor are plentiful and very cheap. A taxi from Dubrovnik Airport has a fixed price of 100 euros but there are many car hire firms there. Peugeot Club does not charge extra to cross the frontier. At Tivat Airport, Europcar (if booked through its Montenegrin website) does not ask for a deposit. Everywhere, car hire prices rise in the summer. Other activities The old Town of Kotor has a bustling market every day of the week, especially on the days the cruise ships visit the port. Kotor has a large number of bars, cafes, restaurants and discotheques, as does Tivat, which has the newest marina in the Adriatic, at Porto Montenegro. There are a number of watersports based in both Kotor and Tivat, including water skiing, canoeing, motor boat hire and mini-cruises along the Bay of Kotor, to Perast and Tivat. There is a large-scale adventure playground in the Lovcen National Park at the top of the Cattara Road. The best beaches are on the nearby Lustica peninsula, 13 kms distant. Local events There are a large number of festivals in Kotor and Budva in the summer months. Tourist attractions The medieval, walled old town of Kotor is a World Heritage site. Perast, 12 kms north on the Bay, is a picturesque, architectural treasure. Budva, 22kms to the south and gateway to the Budva Riviera, is a busy holiday resort, with a maze-like, tiny old town. Further south are the old town of Bar, a mixture of Slovak and Turkish heritage, partly destroyed by an earthquake in 1979 and now a protected conservation site. The Lustica peninsula is dotted with spectacular beaches, especially on its western side. There are more beaches to both the north and south of Budva. The Catara (or Ladder) Road, with over 25 hairpins bends, described as one of the most dramatic (but safe) roads in Europe, stretches above the villa to the top of the mountains, providing spectacular views across the Bay of Kotor and beyond, as far as Croatia. It leads to the old capital of Cetijne Directions Kotor is reached from the north (and Dubrovnik Airport) via the E80 which crosses into Montenegro 22 kms from the airport. The route is then either via the road winding around the Bay of Kotor or via the short ferry crossing at Lepetani (4.5 euros), through Tivat, past Tivat Airport, then through the Vramac Tunnel. Many budget airlines fly into Dubrovnik. Easyjet flies from London Gatwick and Manchester to Tivat, only 10 minutes from the villa, Ryanair flies into Podgorica from Stansted. The best route from there is via the Sozina Tunnel (2.5 euros), then north on the E65 via Budva to Kotor
