i did not have breakfast, i saw the food and it.was not reallly that appetizing to eat, they cater more.for a.Chinese clientele, some foreigners stayed there but.not too many, maybe in the past they did, for.being an international youth hostel, the menu.was not in english, through the app i wrongfully ordered a banana pizza instead of a regular margharita, it didnt seem to be firewood oven baked, more like a regular electric oven...the view in the rooftop was nice, but thats the only good assset this hostel has, yet, this view is in.their adjacent.newer.hotel called Li River INN, the old house hostel doesnt.have this.view...i.did not eat.or drink after the 1st.night

well, the first night they put me in a.34rmb bunk bed, which i didnt.mind, as it was just one night, however the room.had a foul smell, then as the night progressed i could hear the people shitting on top or the feces dropping down through the.pipes not a pleasant sound to sleep or wake.up to...anyways, i moved to my single room, the receptionist , a volunteer who spoke fluent English, gave me room 407, as she said it had the best view, which it did, but not exactly the rooftop view of the mountains and rivers, i wanted to make this my.base and travel around and not have to move frequently, however, this was a bad idea, as the 2nd night or 3rd, i could not sleep.well, why? there was a foul smell of feces again coming from the bathroom drain or from.the AC system, i turned off the AC, and.opened the window, i woke.up.at 1aam anf didnt fall asleep until 4am, at 7 i woke up to go to Yangshuo, take a 1 hour bus, as its not close...i stayed i Yangshuo for the day and night, i was scared by.now to go back and smell the feces smell again at.night, i found a ,32 rmb bunk.bed, no smell, bathrooms are far watmy, nice cold AC, slept for 8-9 hours, a perfect rest, i went back to xingping OLD house hostel to cancel the rest of my 5-6 days, they gave me two.options, one to.move to their Lin River hotel, i.wad afraid the drainage and sewer system would be the same as the buildings are next to each other, the 2nd option, refund 50% only of the rest of my 5-6, days, was around 340, instead of 680 rmb, i did not want 340 to ruin the rest of my trip and 1st time in Guilin and Yangshuo...i learned a lesson, dont book for over 2 days, 1 night should be done first to get a feel, then decide to rent.for.more days, they are running a for profit biz, the hostel is.old literally, its an old building of 10+ years with a terrible sewer and drainage system, if you value a goood.night rest in your room, dont book this hostel, there are othet.options in this Xinping area, and in Yangshuo

Great location, with easy access to Xingping ferry and walking distance from other popular view points.

There was a smell of damp clothes in the corridors.

Location. Friendly staff. Staff were lovely and very helpful. They offered a breakfast for 20rmb and you sat the partner building which had a great view!!! The location was great, right by the river and sites. Shower was strong. Thank you.

My room had some piping behind the bed so I could hear, vividly, running water when prople went to the bathroom or toilet. It was distracting at night time.

This hostel was perfect for my time in Xingping. With breakfast available everyday, and friendly staff members who were able to help with any requests that I had. I really enjoyed going up to the rooftop for lunch or dinner, it was a great view!

Great alternative to Yangshuo (mush better in my opinion if you don't like too much commercialization). Epicenter to many activities, hiking, rafting etc... Nice breakfast available for 20RMB. Friendly and helpful staff on site. Highly recommend staying here.

The location is very convenient, everything is nearby as the ancient town, pier !Easy to get famous places even on foot .Amazing view from the rooftop where we enjoyed the sunset and the best pizza in China which I tasted!Hardly recommended this place for short staying in this small town. Cozy and perfect options for small money!

The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They cooked my food special since I have dietary restrictions and they gave me many recommendations for hikes and activities in the area. The view from the rooftop terrace was absolutely incredible- I sat if there for hours just watching the beautiful scenery. The room was very clean and also had. A nice view of the mountains. The heater in the bedroom was working very well and WiFi was strong. They offer a western style breakfast which is really good and also have oven baked pizza- yum! The location is perfect. It’s a 2 minute walk from laozhi mountain and the pier. The walk from the bus station is about 10 minutes. I will definitely be back again!!

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.. my stay here was perfect. By far the best hostel I’ve stayed at in China yet.

The staff is very helpful and friendly. They can speak English very well. The location is so good near to Laoshan mountain and Bamian mountain. The foods at hostel are very nice

The dorm room is bit small. The restroom is so wet. My bed is near to airconditioner so i couldnot sleep since it's heat and sound

The location is great, much nicer than staying in Yangshuo! Loads of hikes nearby if that's your thing. We would recommend hiring bicycles, taking them on the boat over the river and then cycling/hiking up Da Mian Shan. The hostel atmosphere is really nice and the pizzas are good!

The room was quite hot (the AC worked, we just don't like to use it much), but that's what you get in humid Xingping in the summer!

Recently renovated rooms, so very nice and clean.

New buildings are blocking the river view, so there isn’t really a river view balcony.

The rooftop terrace is very beautiful. The view from there is great. On night we made dumplings which was fun and delicious.

The warm cafe, nice english speaking staff, hot shower, bed (it was december 3 degrees outside)
