Fantastic house opposite the Menin Gate. Full of memorabilia. Very interesting host who tells the story behind the items. Very clean and comfortable, in an ideal location. Benoit drew a route, on a map, to help us find our way on a tourist route round the places we wanted to visit. Safe parking directly outside the house for our motorcycles.
Absolutely nothing!

A great property with a fantastic location. You could not stay closer to the Menin Gate. I hope to return to Ypres and would not consider staying anywhere else. Benoit also so knowledgable, helpful and also chairman of The Last Post Association.

Location was perfect - 50m from the Menin Gate and then right in the heart of town. Quality of facilities was excellent - well equipped kitchen and bathrooms, comfortable beds. The house has a fabulous collection of World War 1 memorabilia. Some excellent restaurants within walking distance. We spent one day at Bellewaerde theme and aqua parks, making Ypres a fabulous family location.
Wouldn’t change anything.

it was a lovely property in a perfect location.
The shower tray needs attention. it does not drain properly.

Perfect location, welcoming and knowledgeable host, very comfortable and spacious, fascinating place to visit
It was perfect for us as a group of 3 but with only one shower/bathroom a larger group might find that more tricky.
Also it was really lovely to be properly welcomed and shown around the house (and it's interesting artefacts) by the lovely Benoit but we had to wait outside as he didn't give out the entry code. Luckily the weather was nice :-)

Benoit came to meet us and tell us the code for the door. He showed us around and gave us a guided, historical tour as well. The house is full of interesting photos, pictures, books about the area around Ypres and especially the Menin Gate.
We could see the Gate from our window. Truly a special location.
Nothing! We loved everything.

The location was perfect and the lounge was like a museum with lots of world war stuff and bugles from the last post ceremony at the Menin Gate. The kitchen had everything you need and the showers were great.
The stairs are a bit steep and narrow so would not suit someone with limited mobility.

My friends and I travelled to Ypes to visit the memorials and to pay our respects to the fallen Irish and Australian soldiers of WWI. The house location was fantastic, literally across the road from the Menin gate. The townhouse has 3 rooms and a shared bathroom and a full living kitchen open space and courtyard dining. The facilities are very clean, comfortable and the house is filled with WWI memorabilia. The host is fantastic, very helpful in recommending activites, routes and also organised a very special attendance as his guest at the last post. We only spent 1 night but could happily stay a week
Nothing particularly to be honest. Maybe air-conditioned bedrooms for the hot summer nights but nothing too upsetting with the windows open. If you came by Bicycle you would need to understand where you can lock your bike overnight as the house opens on to the street.

We liked the friendliness of the host and the proximity to the city. And I liked the easy parking on the street. Extra bonus was the possibility to visit the so called 'last post'- ceremony, which is around the corner in the Menin-gate. The host of the house is also a very proud and enthousiastic host of the ceremony. We had a wonderfull experience. The house was equipped with everything we needed, including an outside gardenroom with table.
The idea of the Menin gate house got us by surprise. We selected on the size and the photo's, not on the theme. The ground floor comprises a large kitchen with eating facilities and a large livingroom with WW1- artefacts and photo's. To our children it looked like a museum. The theme of WW1 continued (distilled) all through the house. Our children got slightly overwhelmed by this. For example: we took a picture of the wall in the room of one of our children.

In the Menin gate house you are a part of history. The host is super! The tour he gave was a tour through the history of Ypres in stead of a tour through the house. No words to describe it.

Positioned across The Menin Gate, it’s the perfect location to experience The Last Post. The apartment proudly displays New Zealand and Australian memorabilia, amongst other WW1 relics. Benoit, the host, went the extra mile explaining the character and history of the house, adding local knowledge of places most likely to interest us as a Kiwi/Belgian family with kids. Thank you Benoit, we truly enjoyed our stay!
