A wonderful discovery

What an unexpectedly fine place to stay. The little cottage is added at the back of the regular house. It has a built on landing for outdoor eating, a pretty garden, and adequate parking right there on the grass. The hosts are delightful, love to talk and find out how you are doing, and have lots of ideas of things to do. The cottage is a block or so from lovely Hahei beach, with tourist things to do, if you are up to that sort of thing. It is close to the little town. The Pour House we went to had excellent food for dinner; the general store had what little we needed. Since the Cathedral Cove walk was closed due to a slip, so we drove over to Shakespeare Cliff Lookout and spent a delightful day on Lonely Bay beach nearby.

Clean, tidy and great location - but not too good if you want to be more private on your holiday

Location is excellent. Unit is very clean and tidy. Owner was helpful in terms of providing information about Hahei - where to eat (or not to eat) and what to do around the area.

There is lack of privacy at this accommodation. The outside area - which has a large table and multiple chairs, sits directly in front of the owners living area. Owner did come out to the deck often to have a chat.

True to its name

Wonderful place and wonderful hosts. The place was clean, warm, and has everything you need. Pam and Bill have green thumbs and grow a beautiful garden in the back yard. The sweet fragrance of the citrus fruit trees, and the sweet fruits from the garden were so refreshing. Bill was even willing to taxi us to the Cathedral cove (round trip!). Their hospitality and kindness were much appreciated.

Warm and joyful experience

Hahei Beach Escape is definitely the only choice for our next trip to Hahei Beach! We were fortunate to have met Bill and Pam, who were such friendly hosts willing to share and help travelers. Despite the Cathedral Cove being closed due to the storm, Bill suggested that we take a rubber dinghy during high tide to get a close look at the volcanic rock bay and cave. We also appreciated Pam's sharing of fresh oranges and lemons from the yard. Look forward to being able to pick fresh avocados and other fruits in the not-too-distant future. More importantly, with Bill's continued encouragement, we finally enjoyed Hot Water from Hot Water Beach

can't think of anyone who wouldn't like Hahei Beach Escape

The bed mattresses were retro. But the bed sheets and coverings new.

the beauty of Hahei made up for everything such a beautiful place and beach

location was great owners were very fried and accommodating

the stay was an annex on the back of the advertising property. the owners live in front house and you’re in the back on an adjoining annex. it was fine for couple nights stay but for any longer I would’ve felt uncomfortable as it was shared garden etc there was nowhere private to relax or sunbathing in garden otherwise a lovely stay

Recommended for Coromandel

Lovely hosts. We had brief chats morning & evening, but never too intrusive. Kept us up to date with travel issues after cyclone. Nice accommodation. Great position. Pour House good for evening meals. Church Bistro also-a bit more 'gourmet'. Cafe in shops great for breakfast

We highly recommend staying here for the location and for the lovely apartment and helpful hosts.

Excellent location: just two blocks from the beach, accessed by a nearby public walkway to the beach. Hosts are wonderful, and Bill lent us a shovel to take to Hot Water Beach. They made excellent recommendations for places to eat both in Hahei and at Hot Water Beach.

We stayed immediately following cyclone Gabrielle, and as a result, temporarily there was no internet.

Amazing stay, great location, wonderful hosts

Wow, this place was wonderful. Bill was a rockstar and so friendly— he made sure I was familiar with the area and helped me with my planning. The home is cozy and very comfortable. The location is UNBEATABLE. This place is a lucky find if you are able to book it!

Excellent apartment. Lovely hosts.

Nice, roomy 2 bedrooms apartment annex. Clean, comfortable, bright. Kitchen facility adequate. Hosts Pam and Bill were lovely decent people. Friendly, helpful. Bill drove us to the entrance of Cathedral Cove walk. On the way back from Cathedral Cove walk we took a nice trail to Hahei beach then to the apartment. Thoroughly enjoy our time here

Excellent escape away from home.

Lovely, helpful and friendly hosts. Wonderful weather, clean and tidy unit. Enjoyed the stay thoroughly. We were provided with good tips for the road journey as well as the Hot water Springs Beach.

Perfect Wind-down Bach

Fantastic wee place. Had everything we needed and only a short 2 minute stroll to shops and beach. Hosts were super helpful and accommodating, it’s great having local knowledge at your fingertips. Would happily stay again.

Great place to sleep and travel around through the day

The location was perfect, central to the little town, campground and beach (also the amazing cathedral cove). The place was very spacious and beds were super comfortable. Good free wifi and decent parking space.

There could have been more privacy. The lounge/ main sliding door have no nets and open up onto the large deck where the owners walk across quite a lot! They are quite chatty and were not the nicest on arrival. The place also connected to the main house by a locked door which doesn’t really show in the pictures.

We would stay again

The hosts here friendly and enjoyed engaging in conversations. We were also thankful they dropped us off and picked us up on our trail walk to Cathedral Cove. The cappuccino sachets were a nice extra touch
