We arrived at Tangiaro Resort on the evening of some of the worst rains ever experienced in Auckland. We left the airport as the flooding began and the drive to the Resort was challenging with heavy rain and land slips on the road. The Resort kept in contact with us and changed us to a larger cabin #14 which was lovely. Spacious rooms, large verandah, BBQ, spa bath and comfortable furniture. As it rained almost continuously for the next two days we were pleased to have such comfortable accommodation, lots of food with us and the Resort Cafe to visit. The location is very remote (14Km of gravel road to reach it) but so peaceful and surrounded by wonderful walks which sadly we could not do. Due to the weather the internet and TV were often not working so it was very much back to an old style holiday before the days of constant technology. A beautiful natural area.

absolutely amazing house and location. I'd really love to come back oneday. Little slice of heaven in the middle of nowhere. The restaurant meal was amazing!
The only thing I could possibly say would be the bed was pretty hard. Really big bed which was awesome but quite hard.

We enjoyed our stay Tangiaro Lodge, and felt reasonably relaxed during our stay we arrived early on new years eve and was allowed to enter our room early which was great the lodge we stayed at was a Lockwood style cabin.
The bed was comfortable and the cabin was well maintained and was equipped with all the usual equipment for our stay, the water pressure was excellent…
The buffet put on New Year’s Eve was amazing and we returned the next night to the restaurant because the food was so delicious.
We visited the water hole along the stream which was nice , additionally we had used the guest spas and they were satisfactory.
Unfortunately there were some negatives with Tangiaro Lodge, the glasses in cupboard were dirty and there was No Wifi (even after resetting it) luckily we had 4g .
Our final gripe was the gravel road right outside kiwi lodge chalet 1 with the constant traffic in an out all day clearly not adhering to sign of 20kph at the entrance of the property, it was really off putting because we had the main road at the back of the cabin and gravel road at the front, we had to sit out the back to avoid the noise .
We really wanted to enjoy our stay at Tangiaro Lodge but felt it somewhat fell short of our expectations. The website states
“Nestled beneath beautiful Moehau Mountain on the Coromandel Peninsula, a little river trickles its way quietly through tranquil fauna. Birdsong, tinkling water and tree breezes are the only sounds to be heard”
More like Birdsong, tinkling water , tree breezes and tyres on gravel are the only sounds to be heard

Had dinner and breakfast at the restaurant - the food was excellent. The cabin itself was HUGE! So nice on a cold night to have a fire. Nice setting and picturesque. The location was excellent function facilities - could imagine that a weekend therefore for a wedding/ significant event would be amazing.

Hidden oasis. This is always mine and my childrens favourite place to getaway.🥰

I loved that it was in the middle of the bush, in a secluded location. There was just bird song and the wind whistling through the trees, so it was great to switch off and get a real break. You’ll need to drive on gravel road to reach the property but it’s not too bad. There is a short bushwalk on the property, which is nice. The private spa pools in the bush are amazing! Although when we used it, the mosquitoes were going crazy and stung every body part that wasn’t in the water. Maybe bring mosquito repellent!
The property is close to the Coastal Walkway, which I would highly recommend.

They very kindly upgraded us to a deluxe cabin and it was luxurious, a beautiful oasis in the bush with all mod cons

The breakfasts at Tangiaro are awesome - actually one of the best ones we've had.
I think that they need to be a bit more vigilant about vaccination passes - we were not asked for proof.

Our favorite thing was definetly the spa out in the bush at night 💗 and the restaurant, food was great even though their chef was not there at the time and the people working really made us feel comfortable 😊
Personally nothing, we loved everything 💗

Amazing location! Was a bit nervous driving in as not sure where we were going - but once we arrived it was amazing! The Receptionist was so lovely and helpful when we arrived and continued to be such a great help. Even allowing us to take our diner back to our room as we were the only guests there! The food was so good! Manager so helpful when I left a jacket and ensured it got to our next hotel for us. The spas were great too.
