Our hosts were warm and kind. Our anniversary dinners was yummy and Francisco and Christina made it so special. Papi and Pipa were so much fun! The views were beyond beautiful! We loved the tour of the wine making process, complete with chocolates and tastes. Did we mention the warm bread Francisco brought each morning? We felt pampered and relaxed- the very best ending to our month in Portugal!! 10 stars!!!

Our hosts, Francisco and Cristina could not have been more gracious or hospitable. The renovation of their historic farmhouse, perched on the slopes of the vineyard owned by his family for four hundred years, is beautiful. They have retained the historic structures and created striking contemporary interior living spaces. Their home and the guest apartment share a spacious terrace, with comfortable seating overlooking the vineyard below, and shaded from the sun by a canopy of wisteria. The guest house is tastefully furnished with comfortable furniture, traditional rugs and art. The kitchen and bathroom are beautifully designed with handsome finish materials and state of the art fixtures. We were served beautifully prepared dinners and breakfasts on the terrace while observing the serene vistas. We were fortunate in bring there for the harvest and got our morning workout traversing the vineyard terraces watching the workers pick and load the grapes. Francisco generously brought us with him in his truck, groaning with grapes, to the Sandeman Wine Cellar on the Douro River near Pinhao where we watched the wine making process. Our stay at the Country House was unique and beautiful. We have made new friends and experienced the beauty of rural Portugal. We are already planning our next visit!
