Everything went well.
The beds were huge and very comfortable>
The bathroom was spectacular with lots of hot water, good towels, and SPACE
The breakfast was a delicious and generous spread with many home made goodies including their butterscotch sauce, jams, local delicacies on top of the usual croissants, bread, meats, cheeses and yoghurt
can't think of anything - it was perfect having somewhere to park and to have use of the garden too.

The Valmarin has an aging grandeur and is an ideal place to stay close to the Ferry port, our room was comfortable, warm and quiet we slept well, unfortunately there was no fridge drinks or tea / coffee facilities in the room.
We are elderly clients and there are no real shower facilities, the bath is quite dangerous we feel, slippery and deep, for us we would prefer a good shower facility.

Great location near an amazing Restaurant just minutes walk away called Tandem. The breakfast was typical European. The room was lovely and everything was in character with the age of the building. The private parking was a huge bonus.
Note all bedrooms are up a minimum flight of one set of stairs. The house is old so you do hear movement of other people above but not voices. This is to be expected when choosing to stay in a character hotel of such age. Everyone was lovely and very helpful.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Malouinière and will certainly come back when we visit the town again. Staff was very friendly and welcoming, service and breakfast very good, the room beautiful with a nice view in the garden. Quiet surroundings, so sleeping in is perfectly possible. 5 min walk takes you to a nice little harbour with restaurants. Two bus stops are nearby, so getting around is easy (5-10 min to the city center). Right thing if you are looking for a special accommodation with flair.

The room was clean and the location was good.
On arrival I was immediately told that my room wasn't very good, was noisy with a small bed but I could pay to upgrade.
There were obviously nice rooms available why not allocate me one of them instead of upselling.
Also breakfast was not worth 13.50.
The rooms are very old and could do with a refurb.

Beautiful house with a amazing big garden and private parking space. Spacieuse appartement room. The whole place is very clean.
Very poor internet connection . Bath with handshower, outdated bathroom.
Though check in was between 16.30 & 19.00h, we could only check in from 18.30H.( we arrived at the property at 16.30 , to find a locked door.)
As it was a raining New Year’s Day and no businesses were open , waiting in the car wasn’t that pleasant.

Lovely situation. Within walking distance of St Malo 'intra muros' but with a lovely park and ample parking facilities. Very atmospheric, with XVIIIth century features preserved, and sympathetically furnished. Friendly and comfortable.

The place was picturesque and felt historique and had old world charm (if you like that sort of architecture which I do). It really felt like stepping back in time. It was not located the touristy area and quite quiet. The restaurants near it are more where the locals went and the prices less expensive. Room was clean and spacious and nicely appointed. There is parking and a lovely garden at the back.
It is a bit of a walk to go to the old town or the Intramuros. If it were a little bit nearer it would be better. It's also a bit pricey considering it was more in the residential part of town rather than near the commercial area, but I guess it is expensive to maintain an old building. Also, strange that there didn't seem to be a in-house staff at night coz you let yourself in at night so it really didn't feel like much like a hotel since there was not much service it felt more like a quaint B&B. I think the breakfast should have been included with the fee.

charming old property. lovely Gardens and good private parking. lots of charcter.
breakfast not great for the money charged. we were also charged for an up graded room without us agreeing to do so. no shower (but a great bath!)

This is a beautiful hotel in a restored historic building. Although we did not make use of it on this occasion there is a spacious enclosed garden with patio furniture that is very beautiful and peaceful. The location is an easy walk to most things so leaving the car in the hotel car park and not struggling with parking in an older city with narrow streets is an added bonus.
The staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are very good. Buffet style continental with protein and cereal options (including cold meats, cheeses, yogurt).
Very easy to get to the ferry port in the morning, with enough time to eat breakfast before checking in for a 10:30 am sailing.
Our room on the top floor was a bit warm and there is no way to secure the windows open so they can bang a bit in the breeze.
No lifts/elevators. Not an issue for us but something to take into account for anyone with mobility issues.

The history of the building and the lovely decor that fitted with the age of the hotel.Great common areas eg the garden, the sitting room.
The pillows were literally lumpy and the bed was very hard.

Beautiful, classic property, lovingly decorated, easy
parking, gorgeous garden, fantastic location. Quiet
with lovely views! And a fridge.
No tea or coffee making facilities. Breakfast was
automatically opted in for us which was annoying
as we had to opt out each day.

Secure onsite parking for car.

5 min walk from beach.
Would stay again.

Location handy for early morning ferry home.
Bed was comfortable
Secure parking at rear of property
Booking confirmation clearly stated room had tea/coffee maker, refrigerator & mini bar. None of these were in the room. Whilst a coffee maker provided (enough for two or three cups) but charged five euros despite pointing out included in booking. Booking confirmation also stated total charge (INC City taxes) would be EUR 127.80. With 5 euros for coffee total should have been EUR 132.80 however I was charged EUR 140.70. I feel this was a deliberate overcharge.

Le Valmarin is 5 minutes away from the ferry terminal... that is the only attraction. The hotel looks grand from the outside. The breakfast was good. Continental breakfast a basket with one fresh (very nice) croissant and a piece of bread with jam. The buffet consisted of slices of ham and cheese, yogurt, cereals, fruit and apple compote. Tea, coffee and orange juice.
The bedroom was bright and spacious with very high ceiling and tall window overlooking the street and looks clean. The bed was super king size and comfortable.
The rooms look a bit tired. Our bedroom did not have enough sockets, we had to unplug the bedside table lights to plug in our chargers but since the lights above the bed did not work, we had to unplug a lamp which socket was behind a sofa. The bathroom was dated. We saw an insect crawling along the toilets skirting board into the bathroom then disappearing down the bathroom radiator pipe. We had to talk to the receptionist to get the Wifi code, by the time we went downstairs nobody was at the desk. The hotel served its purpose but we would not go back.

It was great to stay in a special, individual hotel rather than the soulless boxes which charge astronomical prices for the same every time. The reception rooms are splendidly elegant and comfortable, and the dining room beautifully appointed with views onto a lovely garden. The staff are helpful and pleasant, making your stay even better. You felt like a valued individual, not a room number.
The bathroom, whilst fine for the younger, needs a handle/bar to help and reassure people of my age when getting into the bath/shower.

Forget about Marriott or Hyatt !! This is the real thing!
Traditional and authentic ! Absolutely charming !! Superior service and the lady owner does not know what to do to be nice, welcoming and be your own tourist guide about what to visit and what to do !! Great location away from the hordes of tourists and great “French” breakfasts !! Truly exceptional !

A wonderful spacious room, with a large bathroom that looked out towards the garden. The historic character of the room and its furniture made it feel unique rather than impersonal. Part of a home rather than a hotel chain.

The secure parking and location worked well for us.
The house is very tired and needs upgrading. The internet was non existent. The staff were completely unhelpful and the house next door is a rental people were partying and shouting until 2.30am in the morning. Also very minimal breakfast served by unfriendly staff. Definitely not good value for money.

We received warm welcome, room was nice and clean. Secure parking at the back of the property.
Our window was facing the front of the property - the road. Even on a Wednesday night it was incredibly noisy with people shouting under the windows until 4am, cars and motorcycles racing. Needless to say we didn’t sleep at all. Bed was very hard and uncomfortable. Room was too hot also. Disappointing for the value.

- Wonderful park behind the house
- Little port with fine restaurants nearby

Room was clean.
Manager kept trying to "upgrade' us..showed us worst room nothing like shown on booking.com then insisted on showing better rooms for a Supplement. Insisted on charging for pet, then changed rooms on us. Getting in and out with car v convoluted. Booking.com should sort out or ditch.
