We stayed for one week in this beautiful environment of Taroko Gorge National Park. Great to be immersed in peace.
The manager and staff were very friendly, approachable and helpful. There's a hotline phone to the main manager, Johnny, at any time. He helped us out and rang people for advice if he didn't know.
The hotel is right near the bus stop to Taroko national Park/Hualien routes..
We enjoyed excellent access to the national park, and nearby restaurants.
Liwu Hotel has a good quality breakfast and free tea and coffee anytime.
We felt comfortable socialising in the common area.
Johnny kindly allowed us to use the washing machine, drying area and kitchen.
We felt very at home and there was good security.
The room was very clean and housekeeping provided on request.
Liwu Hotel felt out -of -the -way and part of Taroko's small community, but the disadvantage might affect capacity for upgrading facilities. The bathroom was difficult to ventilate properly.

The breakfast buffet tasted good and had a decent selection. The location towards Taroko Gorge is good, if you have your own means of transport (didn't test the bus).
The room I booked (for a higher price than a basic one) was supposed to have:
- Mountain view
- River view
- City view
- Sofa
- Hot tub
- Soundproofing
- Entire unit located on ground floor
But it had NONE of the above...
It nearly feels like they are trying to scam some of their guests by having one room that propably has those views, but marking all of them the same way. I was looking at a wall, that wasn't even one meter away from my window, so there was no sunlight at all and I had to use the lights all day long. Also the soundproofing was mediocre at best - you could still hear the street from a laid back room as well as people from the adjacent room moving around.
The cleanliness on the floor and beds was okay, but on other surfaces a fair amount of dust had accumulated. It also smelled slightly moldy. The hotel likely has seen better days and could use a renovation.
The reception worked via a phone that's installed in the basement, which is a bit weird, as you can't talk to them directly.
For one night it can be okayish, if you know what you get, but for longer stays I'd definitely recommend staying in Hualien and taking the bus to Taroko.

So convenient for Taroko
Comfortable beds
The bathrooms need work- shower head was broken, wish there was a shower curtain
The lobby is so cute- rooms and hallways could be updated

印尼員工很讚
2024/02/12入住,13號早上8點客棧已無主食餐食,只剩下罐頭類食品及幾片吐司,不符期待,只看到一位印尼籍員工忙,真是失望。

Nice view of mountains from window. Beds and pillows good quality and comfortable. clean. Good location to catch the bus to the Gorge, bus stop outside hotel. Staff helpful, friendly.
We stayed 5 nights at this hotel. Because it is off season and the hotel was quiet, on 3 days we had an individual breakfast box instead of the buffet. the staff did apologise for this. It was ok.

Excellent buffet breakfast on weekends. Good bus connections to the train station and Hualien. Walking die to the Taroko NP.

One day it was a quite nice buffet and next day a small lunch box given with salad and a boiled egg. Very unsatisfactory.
Location is good as you can walk to the main trail. And take a bus from across the road to the gorge

Don’t listen to the detractors, this place is an incredible value! Large rooms, clean beds, tv, ac. What else do you need? It’s also right next to the entrance to the national park. Do yourself a favor and rent a motorbike at the train station (you don’t need an IDP there) it’s a great way to see the park.
Breakfast is alright, a bagel and salad and some fruit. Coffee and tea. If you’re not about the simple breakfast, don’t fret, there’s a 7-11 just a 1 or 2 minute walk down the road.

Big spacious room, lots of free parking, super helpful staff, quite good breakfast. Some restaurants and 7-11 within easy walking distance. Close to Taroko National Park HQ and Taroko Gorge
Nothing really

Location amazing, right before the gate to the Gorge. Great restaurants just steps away. Very peaceful, quiet and scenic location. Staff very helpful. Really cool place to stay.
The shower was not contained in the bathroom, so the floor was always very wet and slippy. Shower shoes provided though, which helped.

It was the perfect location to go into the gorge right near the bus stop. The room was spacious with good air conditioning.
The shower was a bit disappointing

Ample parking next to hotel, spacious room and hotel lobby, close proximity to Taroko
Limited food options at night as many shops close before 7pm

The staff, and guests, were so kind and accommodating and the room was a bit different, but very clean and comfortable. Would definitely recommend for a family. Breakfast was also lovely.
There was no shower curtain, which made things quite wet.

The breakfast was really good and the location is superb and the place was very clean. There is a coffee machine that is free to use whenever and free bottled water hot or cold.
Room was very large.
When we came the owner wasn't around and we couldn't check in, there was a sign that told us to call him or send a mail and we had to ask a fellow hotel guest to use his phone as we do not have a taiwannese number.
The water takes a long time (~10 minutes) to get hot in the shower

Very close to the park area, next to the bus stop. The staff was extremely nice and caring. The room was very big and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Coffee, water and breakfast was more and better than I expected.
Outside noises are very easy to hear inside the room.

Excellent location just beside the bus stop, nice people, nice breakfast. Room was a bit outdated but comfortable, we had everything we needed.

I like the location of the hotel. Its very near to the Tarako National Parc. It allows you to hike and explore the Tarako Valley easily. I also like the fact that we can check in without having to talk to someone and that the owner allow us to pay the bill the next day, not right away when we arrive. It feels like there is a trust relationship there.
For breakfast, it would be great to have drinks other than coffee or tea...preferably something without cafeine. Another point for the breakfast, it would be great if the menu changes everyday (I had two breakfasts and it was exactly the same for the two days : smashed potatoes, tomatoes + orange, salad).
