Not much
From the street this hotel almost looked like it was boarded up. This is a one star hotel. Musty odor in the halls and rooms. The place is filthy. They don’t clean the rooms during your stay.
This place was horrible and read all the reviews.
When we checked in they didn’t even give us the room we booked. When they corrected it still wasn’t correct.
This was a huge disappointment

Room had a musty Oder only two towels a face towel and a large towel for two people hardly any shower gel had been used by previous customer, only four sachet of sugar so could only make two drinks, key card was faulty had to keep going to reception who said we weren’t using it correctly extacter in the bathroom didn’t certain lights weren’t working ,nobody was staffing the bar at night the receptionist saw me standing there for ten minutes i then asked if it was open she then came to serve me a drink but seemed to be a problem for her to do so , very rude over priced for the cleanliness we had had stayed the night before at the holiday inn in Aberdeen the difference between the two hotels was staggering
Rooms need a good cleaning and the lift was dirty making sure everything is replaced after each customer the staff need to be more helpful and happy

There was a bar and breakfast available
The room was dirty. The shower pressure was non-existent. We had to ask for towels. The entire hotel outside of the room was messy. The price for what we got was outrageously high on what was generally quiet weekend in Edinburgh.

It was not clean at all!

Location was ideal. Reception and housekeeping staff were fantastic.
Hotel cost due to tourism tax has raised hotel prices to crazy prices.

The Toilet never works and they only try once to fix and that is it even they did not offer other room to change. Wifi in the room is not free and they closet the bar early

The 24 hour car parking at a very reasonable price was great and a big part of the reason I booked this hotel
My kettle did not work and so I was unable to a have a warm drink in the morning. I did not book breakfast as this was already offered at the training venue I was attending. You can tell this was once over a lovely high quality hotel. I would say it is looking a little bit tired and unloved in areas of the hotel.

Not alot!!
The room was freezing cold, has only a small electrical storage heater in the room that took the whole night to warm the room so slept in my clothes as there was not duvet just a very thin sheet on the bed. Being in February, this is not what you want.
The hotel is very 'warn' and certainly needs some investment to get it back to an acceptable state, especially for the money they charge!!

My bed was super comfortable and the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious and clean with plenty of plug points and good lighting. It was perfect as I had an early start for work the next day and the hotel was only a short walk from where I needed to be!
I can't fault it for the price! It's a great hotel to have as a base if you want to visit Edinburgh!

Location great, staff friendly
Hotel is dated. Carpets are dirty. Walls are stained. Key card for door consistently not working. Limited and expensive car parking. Breakfast buffet food just OK, bread toaster broken, juice dispenser broken, layout of food/drinks poorly arranged. Overall very overpriced for the facilities and experience.

The staff were friendly
We had to pay £7.50 per day to park on the hotel grounds. We had to use taxis to get into the centre as there is no bus route nearby. The room was dated, the beds hard and the bath very narrow so had the shower curtain touching when showering. The breakfast was awful.

Location was good to city centre.
Luggage storage.
We were greated with a frown!
WiFi isnt free in rooms, then u get it for free on the buses!
No housekeeping at all!
Only one towel for 3 days?!?!? And no bathroom floor mats.
No telephone in the rooms!
Bath and toilet were dirty in both rooms, and the vents are full of dust.
The shower had very bad presure, and the toilet flush wasnt working properly.(room 506)
Both rooms need a matresse change ASAP(rooms 503 and 506)
Springs coming through the matresses.
Breakfast had very little choice.
No fresh bread or pastry.
Hotel needs a refurb all around.
Value for money is VERY expensive.

Nothing
Broken WC seat - no ventilation in a windowless cell - damp smelling room - very poor lighting - bulb missing in one light - the other bulb was a 6 watt LED to light the whole room - lack of cleaning in the bathroom, blood or hair dye on the walls. hairs in the bath. No Wifi without paying. (I have photos of most defect.)
Real shame as i remember this hotel from years ago - hard to believe it was the same place.

It's a Britannia Hotel, with all that entails. I'd be disappointed if it had been perfect.
You get good value for money. That is to say, it's a good reminder as to why other hotel's cost more.
The poor overworked guy behind the front desk was away from it for about ten minutes when I arrived. But when he arrived he was very helpful.
The room was the expected small, dark and slightly grotty, with a bathroom floor that looked in need of a deep clean. Or replacing.
I decided against breakfast, choosing instead to walk to the nearest shops (by Haymarket) and stock up. Honestly, you get what you pay for with a Britannia. I've stayed at a few, and they all manage to be uninvitingly dysfunctional in their own unique ways.

Warm welcome from the staff at reception.Who were very helpful. We stayed in a refurbished room. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent value for money

Location, accessibility, and reception staff very helpful on arrival
Kitchen staff unaccommodating and cheeky, paying for car parking, and some of our group stayed in an older building that was cold and had damp and mould in the room

The rooms need updating and were far from the enticing ones on the website.

Good location, fairly priced
Beds are uncomfortable and small. Room could have been cleaner, black mold in the bathroom, stained tub and floor, dust and soap scum on the surfaces.

Hotel was okay
An old man at the check in counter when we first arrived was racist. He didn't give us space in luggage storage and said it was full. But some other people who came after us was given space to keep their luggages.
