The location is fantastic. Right in the historic centre. The hotel itself is beautiful and nice to just be in. The hotel pick up was very smooth and the owner was a nice guy who even went for a beer in the craft bewery next door with me.
The wifi in my room (which was in the corner of the property) did not work very well. It did work well in the main social areas.

It was such a uniquely beautiful place. The owners were very nice and helpful. The location was awesome! Walking distance to so much.
We arrived in the middle of the night after a long day of travel. The owner helped settle us in. We were so grateful.

I stayed in two different rooms both were quirky and comfortable. I loved the old stories of the building and how it was all so original but with modern touches like ensuite bathrooms and wifi. The owners and all the staff were very helpful, and gave us great local tips. The location could not have been more perfect, I have already recommended it to lots of people. Having the gate to the street locked at night also gave a real sense of security. I loved the history of the Wooden Virgin in the prayer room
The Breakfast compared to all the other hotels we stayed at over the month was quite simple, but if you wanted to have a little more there was a fabulous cafe on the right just beyond the Campana Church ie the Golden Church

An incredible historical building in the heart of Quito's historical center. Spending a night in this hotel is like stepping into the past, and it is clear that the place is lovingly kept as historically accurate as comfortable. The personnel at the hotel was nice to the extreme, and very accommodating - and everyone spoke very good English. The room was quiet, rather spacious and had all necessary amenities, and the beds were VERY comfortable. Keep in mind this is a historical building however, and as such do not expect a modern room. Breakfast was serviceable , again with very pleasant personnel. The location is amazing - 2 min from the main square and at most 5 from most touristic attractions. Lots of restaurants etc around as well.
They provide chauffeur service to and from the airport and I want to give a special mention to Efren, our chauffeur. Not only was he extremely friendly and professional, but for a small cost he arranged a custom half-day of visits around Quito that let us fill the time before our departure flights. He took us to the Mitad del Mundo, to the Panecillo.... All of it with insightful comments. Ask for him if you're interested for day tours !

The location was excellent for exploring the historic centre. The room was nice and airy and the beds were comfortable. The shower was powerful and hot. The staff were all very friendly.
The breakfast was very basic with no choice. You had to rely on being left out and in a lot of the time - one day we couldn't get out to meet our taxi for some time.

The location and the staff were excellent.
The bathroom was not as clean as I expected. There was dirt and an old rubber-band behind the bathroom door.

Gorgeous old former convent with lots of public space in the covered center patio. My rooms had exterior windows, comfortable bed and safe in the room. Quiet and good breakfast included.

very good location in the historic center of thew town
helpful manager
I am reluctant to call the building a hotel. The facility is extremely neglected and dirty, it absolutely needs massive investment. I wouldn't even rate this device as a 3 star - that's either a bad joke or ignorance. Booking.com should be better at choosing partners for cooperation and sometimes even checking them.

The owner Bernardo and staff were very friendly and helpful. Great location steps away from San Francisco Cathedral. Hotel was in historic building.
Bathroom was old and in need of improvement. No heater in the room. Had parking but somewhat difficult and limited to two cars.

Excellent location! The owner is very warm and friendly. Our room was large.
There were some problems with the hot water. We were informed of when the problem would be fixed, so we had hot water during some time of the day. However, the first fix didn't totally resolve the issue. It's a VERY old house so this is somewhat understandable. The staff only spoke basic English and my Spanish is even worse. They immediately pulled out their phone and we typed our interactions using a translating service.

What an amazing building in a great location! Lovely lovely house with very nice details, beautiful decorations and right in the middle of Quito Centro Historico. Bernardo is an amazing host and can tell great stories about the house and Quito. He took us on a great free walking tour and showed us a lot of great places.
Only thing that was not so perfect was that our room was directly above the kitchen of the breakfast area, so we could smell the eggs before we even ordered any.

The furniture and interior is just amazing, the hotel is like a museum.
The location right at Plaza San Francisco is perfect and the owner was very helpful and friendly.
The room was a little dusty and unfortunately we did not have hot water in our bathroom (which happened to us in almost all Ecuador). The problem was not to be fixed during our stay, but we were offered to use the bathroom in another room.
The breakfast is served in a café on the ground floor of the hotel. It was a classic breakfast (eggs, white bread, jam, coffee, juice). The scrambled eggs were very good, but the plates and cutlery were not really clean.

The Staff (US) very helpful and friendly. The location is good, but dangerous. The bedroom is great and the Wi-Fi just work in the hotel lobby. I had a great time staying at Hotel Boutique Portal de Catuña!
Wi-Fi is very weak

This hotel is conveniently located in the historic area of the city and has quite a history itself. The interior is beautifully preserved and the rooms are comfortable. We’d definitely stay there again.
