Peaceful Lake Retreat On An Island You Can Drive Onto!
About this house rental
Peaceful oasis for those looking for an “off the beaten path” experience on a car-accessible island on a quiet mid-coast lake. Leave your worries behind as you drive down a 1.7-mile well-maintained private dirt road, guide your vehicle through a bit of water, and arrive at a spectacular 6-acre oasis with 1775’ of lake shoreline. The expansive yard overlooks Stevens Pond, and the secluded, wooded setting offers a spectacular three-sided lake view, a sandy soil private beach with seating and a large picnic table. Remote…yet still with close access to coastal towns Belfast, Camden and Rockland. This island escape ensures a relaxing retreat for couple(s) or a friends' gathering. The Property *Note there are TWO buildings on the 6-acre property: a modern 3-bedroom chalet (the rental) and a sizable detached 3-car garage with 1-bedroom studio (the owner’s living quarters (not the rental)). To reiterate, 2 adults (owners) and 1 dog reside on the property. The garage and cottage are in close proximity. The cottage has a spacious deck on three sides, all with lake views. There is a size-able lawn with outdoor furniture and a propane fire pit on the deck for you to enjoy clear, starry nights. A wide path and short walk take you to an open space with shallow water access and a dock for swimming, kayaking, fishing and just plain relaxing. There is an additional propane fire pit at the beach. Enjoy the various sit-in, sit-on single and tandem kayaks provided for a day (or moonlight) excursion exploring Stevens Pond. Easy walk to a secluded trail for nature walks, which has the only direct access to a 40-acre nature preserve: https://www.georgesriver.org/quigg-island/. Please note that some areas of the lake frontage have a very steep incline, specifically right in front of the chalet. Therefore, we advise this property is NOT suitable for guests with young children. The Chalet (we are continually updating and improving our amenties…the property may look different from photos upon arrival) 2nd Floor Lake Side Bedroom: (1) King Bed 2nd Floor Bedroom Woods Side: (1) King Bed, (1) Twin Bed 1st Floor Bedroom: (1) Queen The cottage is accessible with a keyless entry from the wrap-around deck, opening into the kitchen area, which is spacious and well equipped with plenty of storage and counter space. There is an area for you to hang your outdoor gear, place your shoes, recharge your electronics, etc. and where you will find useful information on the cottage, and what to see and do in the area (day trips, breweries, restaurants). The first floor has an open layout joining the living room, dining area and kitchen as one. The lake can be seen from these spaces through large windows and a sliding door leading to the deck. Furnishings were chosen for your comfort and include a flat-screen tv, selection of games and a large table to gather around to share your meals or just to sit and unwind after a day spent exploring. Also on the first floor is a bedroom with (1) queen and a cozy, full bathroom with bath / shower. Upstairs, on the 2nd floor is a sizable lakeside bedroom, with a king bed, sitting area and exterior balcony overlooking the lawn and provides gorgeous views of the lake. A second spacious bedroom, with a king bed and a twin bed, overlooking the dooryard and has a view of the interior woods. In between these two bedrooms is a half-bath for convenience. The Lake and Location Stevens Pond covers 336 acres and has oodles of “nooks and crannies” to explore. It’s a major headwater of the scenic St. George River. Habitat conditions are ideal for a variety of warm water fish species, including largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white perch and chain pickerel. Although there is a public boat launch located off of nearby Route 173, boats are limited to 10 horsepower motors, so the lake is generally peaceful. You may even have it all to yourselves depending on the time of day and year. You will certainly hear the exquisite and haunting cry of a loon or two. The nearby town of Liberty, Maine is very small (population less than 1,000 and not even one stoplight) yet has charm and several required destinations such as the Liberty Tool Company, Liberty Graphics, Pottle's Pub, Good Natured Studio, John’s Ice Cream, Lori’s Café, and Lake St. George Brewing Co.. So please, you won’t be bored to tears on a remote island! No matter the season, there is plenty of outdoor adventure and sightseeing to experience in the surrounding area. All of the wonders of mid-coast Maine are just a quick drive up or down the scenic coastline! In fact, with a tankful of gas or two, ALL of coastal Maine is at your disposal.

My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful (too short) week in the cottage on the pond. The property has many amenities, from kayaks to propane fire pits, in a beautiful setting in a comfy home.
We were lucky to be there during a full moon and clear night, with a stunning view of stars. It was a pleasure to share this place with hosts Kate and Joe, and canine assistants Karma and Dogma.
We recommend hiking up the nearby Haystack Mountain, where from the summit you can view Stevens Pond and with binos see the property’s dock. Then return to explore the pond’s numerous nooks and crannies by kayak.
A perfect Maine experience.

Our family has stayed at many VRBOs over the past 10+ years and this is the best yet! Upon meeting Kate and Joe, it's clear why this property is so outstanding. Their warmth and friendliness in person carries over into the house, which is more than the listing shows. You rarely meet such kind, friendly people.
We were welcomed with fresh baked goodies and a kind note and quickly realized that their home was our home. It was especially nice to have every convenience of home - from coffee to spices to paper products. This immaculate property is one you feel comfortable relaxing in. Kate and Joe were always available and checked in to make sure that we had everything we needed. If only all VRBO hosts were like this!!

We loved our stay on Stevens Pond. The house was immaculate and the lake really fun, especially with the included kayaks. The hosts were very helpful, lending us an electric mixer for baking, a basketful of remedies for when one of us got poison ivy after an outing to a waterfalll, and even letting us pick blueberries from their nearby field. A perfect spot if you're looking for a relatively remote vacation with attentive hosts.

We stayed here previously so we knew how nice the accommodations were and what to expect. Once again we had a nice visit and Joe and Kate were very prompt to respond when unexpected issues arose.

My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The cottage was very clean, equipped with all the necessities (and more), and perfectly located with a view of the water.
There is an expansive deck with a grill, and seating areas near the cottage and water. And the location is ideal for stargazing.
Kayaks are provided. Getting out on the pond was so quiet and peaceful. Sometimes we were the only ones out there. It was amazing. And the fishing was great!
Kate and Joe are the perfect hosts. If you are looking for a peaceful getaway...this is the place. We look forward to going back.

We travel often and have been renting vacation homes for many years. This was the best equipped home we have rented. The house was spotless, the property had everything you would want in Maine vacation. Beautiful lake, kayaks, canoe, fishing, and excellent hiking trails. The owners were very helpful with useful information on the history of the property and things to do in the area. We enjoyed sitting by the fire up on the deck and at the water's edge for sunsets.
We look forward to visiting again!!

This property is amazing - quiet and private, on a beautiful pond surrounded by woods. The house has wonderful views of the water and you can hear the loons in the morning. There are so many amenities - kayaks, fire pit, hiking trails, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen and house and very knowledgeable, generous hosts. They strike a perfect balance between being available and sharing their enthusiasm for the area and also giving guests plenty of space. Our family made some great memories on Quiggs Pond, and we look forward to a return visit!

A wonderful home on a fantastic pond. Was the perfect place for our family and friends to get together. The house was more than well appointed with everything one would need. In addition, they offer kayaks, fishing gear, fire pits and more. One would be hard pressed to find a better place for vacation. We just left and are already talking about a return.

Between the beautiful and comfortable chalet, the fun of kayaking on the lake, and the hospitality of Kate and Joe, this property makes for an incredible trip!
You'll feel right at home as soon as you walk in the chalet. The views of the lake, abundance of natural light, and tasteful artistic touches throughout the chalet are wonderful. The furniture was high quality, and the kitchen was well-stocked. There's no question that you'll be comfortable during your stay. As great as the chalet is, you'll definitely want to spend time enjoying the outdoors. Our personal highlights were kayaking on the lake, the firepit on the beach, and the amazing stargazing opportunities.
Kate and Joe are incredible hosts; they are warm, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the local area. They had ice cream from the local ice cream parlor waiting for us in the freezer upon our arrival, and they picked us fresh blueberries before we left for home. They also make for a fun trivia team at the local brewery!
We loved our trip to Maine, and this property was a big part of the reason why. We'll definitely visit again. Thanks Kate and Joe!

Definitely an oasis!
The description of the property cannot describe the serenity one feels when crossing the small stream. The location cannot be matched and Kate and Joe are consummate hosts. We've already made our reservation for next year and although don't want to rush another year, we definitely are looking forward to returning. Thank you Kate and Joe for allowing us to share your paradise!

Fantastic Lakeside Retreat
This had to be one of the best places we’ve ever rented. Not only was the location and property outstanding, Kate and Joe were the best. They made us feel like family right from the start. The house had every convenience needed as well as so many extra special touches. We appreciated that the quality of the kitchen appliances and the furniture were top notch. So many times you only have basics and not good ones at that. Not so with Kate and Joe. They had everything you needed for the perfect stay from the fluffy throws to the kayaks to everything in between. Thank you, Kate and Joe, for a wonderful experience. If I could rate this a 10 stars I would.

The house is so stocked and so beautifully decorated. There was 5 of us traveling through the New England States and this was the best part of the trip. We enjoyed every moment we where there. Thanks for your hospitality and kindness.

We love it here.
We really loved our second stay at this property. Kate and Joe are great hosts. Everything at the property is of high quality and very well maintained. The property itself is secluded and quiet. Sitting out on the deck or down at the little beach, you will have a nice place to read and contemplate. A very restful place. The fishing is great. The eagles and loons are a real treat too.

Ahhhh, Meadoasis....where to begin?
Beautiful views of the serene lake (technically a pond, but very large) from almost every window and door. Friendly, gracious, and attentive hosts in Kate and Joe. Comfortable, spacious, and very well-equipped house. Boat and kayak availability for fishing or just floating. Close enough to sightseeing spots and restaurants, yet far enough for complete privacy. Extraordinary wifi for streaming, etc. Plenty of seating inside and outside on the deck and grounds.
In summary, our visit was even better than we had imagined! We were so glad we added a couple of days to our stay and would LOVE to come back sometime. We highly recommend Kate and Joe's oasis to anyone who is looking for that true Maine lakes experience.

The Meadoasis was the perfect choice for our first visit to Maine. We looked hard to find a location that was close to quaint coastal towns with panoramic hiking, and we scored a homer! Along with the costal towns of Belfast, Camden and Rockport were inland villages such as Liberty, Searsmont and Belmont. So the location was perfect to venture out for day trip. However the best of all was the Meadoasis Chalet! Our highest expectation in vacation rentals is comfort and this venue is by far the most comfortable we have EVER stayed in. From the chairs on the sandy beach of Stevens Pond, to the yard and deck furniture and on up to the leather chairs in the bedroom, there was not a resting place on the property or in the house that was not comfortable. Well appointed is an understatement, as this property provided much more than we could need. The solitude of being on a private island is just was we needed to unwind and regroup. Joe and Kate could not have been more accommodating and friendly. Pick the Meadows for your vacation to Maine.

Well-kept clean cabin on pristine lake
We stayed a month, and we didn’t want to leave! Kate and Joe have created a comfortable well-equipped chalet home on the lake. The house was sparkling clean upon our arrival, with everything you could need, and hosts were kind and quick to respond to any request for local information or item to be borrowed. The swimming is great right off the dock. Quality kayaks are at dockside with easy walk-in access to water and beautiful places to paddle around the peaceful lake. Walking distance from the cabin is a forested trail along the shore of the island, as well as pleasant walks on the dirt roads through the woods leading to the chalet. Also there are many riverside walking trails nearby in Belfast, Palermo, Liberty. We devoured more than our share of delicious wild blueberries and lobster and enjoyed visiting farm stands to buy excellent local produce. We rated this five stars, and would have given it more stars if VRBO allowed!

Kate and Joe are consummate hosts. The chalet was roomy, pristinely clean, and incredibly well appointed. We wanted for nothing -- we had a running joke about what could possibly be missing and the most we came up with was a deck of card that shuffled more easily. This place has everything you need---kayaks, grill, picnic table, and an incredible view.
This is the perfect place for those who want to relax and be among nature. I will be recommending Kate and Joe's place to everyone.

An island refuge.
We really enjoyed our stay on Quigg Island. Joe and Kate were great hosts and we lacked for nothing. Be sure to take them up on an offer to go to the local pub for trivia night, we had a blast. The house was immaculate and well apportioned. Everything from the appliances and kitchen ware to the furniture was of great quality. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful, fun to watch the chipmunks and red squirrels frolic. The lake was quiet and full of wildlife. We saw many birds, even nesting Bald Eagles. The fishing was excellent and the lake was never crowded with boats. There was a choice of kayaks to utilize and the beach area was a great place to just sit and read. Scenic shore towns are close enough to visit on day trips and returning to seclusion is easy and welcome after a busy day. We plan to return, it was one the best vacation experiences we've had.

An idyllic escape from the daily grind
We had a wonderful time at Meadoasis. Kate and Joe were very gracious hosts, and the property lived up to our greatest expectations. It was a fantastic opportunity to relax, unwind, and enjoy a little peace and quiet. The house is cozy and well-appointed, the lakeside views (and fishing and kayaking) are great, and the overall experience is deeply peaceful. We were sad to leave and could have very happily spent another few weeks there.

Idyllic Setting
Very private and peaceful stay in a comfortably furnished and tastefully decorated home. Cooking was a dream with everything needed for meal prep, serving, storage and cleanup. The outdoor spaces are a dream. We spent most afternoons at beach/dock area lounging at the lakeside. When the weather got chilly we enjoyed the fire pit on the porch. The super host owners were great from start to finish. Overall a fantastic fit for our getaway; I just wish I had booked sooner as we had to cut our week to only 5 nights since someone else beat us to the dates.

We spent a magical late summer week at this amazing place. Stephens Pond is a gem for kayaking and swimming and just watching; the house and deck are wonderful and equipped with everything we needed (and more; a shout-out to the great propane fire pit where we ate many of our dinners) and Kate and Joe were terrific hosts, available when we needed them but also giving us all the space we needed. We've stayed at many lake cottages and this is one of the best, if not the best!

We stayed for one week at the Chalet in Liberty. Kate and Joe went out of their way to make us comfortable and were fantastic hosts! The home was as described and there are also kayaks/boats available to use in the lake. We enjoyed a week of quietness, great outdoors and food. My family would definitely go back in the future!

A great time
This is a great location. Our hosts were awesome, from preparing our house, giving us a boat with a motor and two kayaks to use, and tips on fishing. The house is lovely. It is on a beautiful and quiet lake/pond.. We had everything we needed, including air conditioning and washer/dryer.
