Excellent resort, stunning views, very professional and friendly staff. It was everything that we could have asked for for our honeymoon. The facilities were all excellent, the private beach was really clean and had a nice little bar where you could have lunch. The breakfast was great too.
I read some complaints of food allergies not being taken seriously on booking before going there. While there we were asked regularly if we had any allergies, so they seem to have taken the criticism to heart and have improved.
The restaurants of the resort seemed really pricey for what they were (albeit they had great views and atmosphere) but there are much better and affordable places around (some even in walking distance).
The resort should offer more potable water. They wouldn't restock your room fridge with any and the water in the bars and restaurants cost 5 euro per half litre. That felt uncourteous when it was 35 degrees every day.

Friendly staff, good location.
The smell in the room was so bad, as well as ants all over

The hotel was in a beautiful location and we had a lovely room. Staff were very friendly. Lovely buffet breakfast.
On site restaurants were very pricey. Also no free coffee or tea in the room.

Bedrooms very small, did not change bed linens during our stay, ants in bedroom, not shower gel, towel like sand paper

Elounda and Plaka are wonderful little towns. We rented a scooter from Elounda Rent a Bike (highly recommended, great service!) and visited local villages.
The best place to eat is located 15 mins outside of Elounda in Kato Pines. The name is Mamma Mio, an absolute fabulous place with fantastic home made food, a wonderful host and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!!!
We booked 2 weeks at the hotel. I guess in hindsight we should have read all the reviews more carefully. We arrived late at night. Upon arrival, we were given a standard room. The room - which was actually more like a cave - was a complete insult for the money we paid. The room was cramped, did not have any chairs (!!!) and with the ceiling so low, it barely let my husband who is 185 walk around upright. The entrance to the washroom featured a gigantic step and an incline. A huge tripping risk if you are taking a night trip to the toilet- (or if you are older and less mobile) - which in fact happened to me, and I hurt my foot badly on the first night. When I approached the manager the next day about a change, she rudely informed me that to get a better room it would cost an extra 500€. I refused (having paid over 3600€ -250€ a night-, I did not want to spend more, obviously) Only through my insistence that the step was dangerous we were promised another standard room the next day. Our second room was better, still cramped with old, damaged furniture and an extremely cramped balcony. Old grey towels, dirty floors, open leaky shower, no shampoo or soap. (cryptically the housekeeping would only leave bodycream and hair conditioner) No kettle in the room, 6€ for a bottle of water and 1.5€ for a coffee pod. Oh and a lovely warning not to take anything out of the minibar to make space our own things in or we would be charged.
We only ate at the Poseidon restaurant once. Very very expensive, and the quality is not what one would expect for that price.

Perfect location with private beach. Everything made for the customers to get relaxed.
Mattress of the bed was not so good.

View from the pool are spectacular and the breakfast is very good. Staff are also faultless in their approach.
The bedrooms and shower are nowhere near 5 star standard and the shower design in particular is very poor. Prices in the restaurant and bar are over the top and the restaurants as a result were largely empty, which is a shame given the view from the restaurant.

Had to change our room due to personal preferences. The staff in this respect did their best and it was appreciated. The staff in general apart from a couple of exceptions were very very good. The room we changed to was lovely, the view is what in my opinion makes this hotel and our view was spectacular . Lovely big pool no complaints there. Food on the whole was good but not special (though we did not eat in the speciality restaurants) and the whole place was spotless.
We changed our room at a cost, o.k. but this was in the end worth the extra. Deals don't always get you the "good" rooms. What we did not like was the fact they charged for even the coffee pods left in the room, for water with your meal (not breakfast). You are left thinking that they would charge for the air you were breathing. On the following day after we made the change the gent who checks if you had drinks from the fridge etc. brought us the one and only complimentary bottle of water and a bottle of wine, great you might say, he was abrupt and pushed his way into the room to do his bit while my wife was in her underwear! having to make an escape to the bathroom. On the whole the staff were lovely but you found too many of the "managers"stood around looking important rather than helping out when clearly at times they were struggling to cope at busy periods during breakfast. The food was good but distinctly average. The speciality restaurants were closed for two nights due to the chance of rain, ate in one night - buffet- and out the rest. Just not the ending to our holiday that we had hoped for but we live and learn.

the facility was outstanding.
the stuff was amazing to us.
the place had everything for the stay, including a beautiful private beach, so we almost didn't move our car.
I will come back.

We arrived for the last week of the season late October. The maintenance team were already derigging the beachside area which had been idyllic but was ruined by the team working with tools and chatting at volume

Breakfast was great with a lot of variety. The staff were very kind and available. The whole area of hotel is maintained very well! Recommended for whom enjoy quiet environment.
Not a lot to see since it is far from centre.

the view, the friendly staff, delicious breakfast
location a bit too remote, difficult to drive safely up steep driveway, hotel room safe box wasn’t working and we needed to ask twice before it was serviced

Breakfast was amazing with very big variety of choices.
Location of the hotel is very nice with great view. Reception and pool bar area were great. Especially great environment to have a drink at night with live music most of the nights.
Gym of the hotel was well equipped and clean.
The service although mostly polite, they were not really trained nor attentive and in many cases not even professional. When having issues with the room we had to call them multiple times for them to respond and there have been some cases that they were quite rude when responding. Only after complaining they started treating us better and thanks to Evelina our stay got significantly improved the last 2 days of our stay.
Additionally, the Standard room was not in the standards of a 5* hotel (it was 3* at best). The room was constantly smelling very bad from the toilet, lights were not working and it was not not properly cleaned. They didn’t even offer proper Shampoo and Body wash (we learned that this was available only for the higher room categories which is ridiculous for a 5* hotel).
Finally, they are charging extra money for things that are always free in hotels like Nespresso capsules in the room (1.5 euros each where in all hotels and Airbnb are for free) or even the tennis court that existed in the facility.

Amazingly located hotel with a fantastic view. The staff is super friendly and smiling. The food in the restaurant is very delicious and they have Samurai sushi-bar in the hotel. Best sushi I've ever tried)) The hotel has it's own beach (and it's super nice)
The rooms could be a bit more modern, however this is not spoiling the experience! Wi-Fi speed might be improved as well.

Beautiful spot and very good service.
Room was small and overpriced when compared to all the other places we stayed during our three-week tour of Crete.
Disappointing to find the bathroom bin not emptied from the previous guests - it was quickly addressed but that should not happen.

Beautiful location overlooking the sea with hills and mountains in the background.
Short drive to both Elounda and Plaka, in fact it takes 30 minutes to walk to both.
Really ‘cool’ hotel with elegant public rooms, restaurants, beach and swimming pool.
Buggies that would drive you around the complex (necessary).
The staff were excellent, friendly and flexible.
Samurai restaurant served amazing sushi and we drank one of the best red wines we’ve ever had.
We only had a small hired car and it was very difficult to drive it up the very steep drive to reach reception.

We had a wonderful week! The views from the hotel were amazing, both pool and beach areas were very relaxing, the breakfast buffet was very tasty, we enjoyed walking to either Elounda or Plaka, room was spacious and clean.
The prices for food and drink within the hotel were very expensive- we chose to eat out at the many restaurants in Elounda or Plaka instead. Tea or coffee in the room would have been nice. We did not have a private pool, however our balcony looked over the private pool of the room next door... luckily we didn't seem to have neighbors for most of the week or else it would have felt a little awkward .

Stunning views, great little private beach in front of the hotel. Nice pool. Breakfast was fine, typical buffet breakfast offering. We ate out most nights, but did join for the Cretan night with entertainment on the beach which was lovely and had dinner one night at Poseidon, very good food and the two wait staff were so friendly. All of the staff at the hotel are super friendly and helpful, can’t do enough for you.
Never had an issue getting a sun bed at the beach, even when we turned up later in the day.
It’s a short taxi ride (€7 or €8) into both Elounda and Plaka, I would recommend visiting both.
At times the beach restaurant was quite slow. Not a massive issue as we were on holiday of course. The staff were working extremely hard and trying their absolute best but I think at peak times in the afternoon they may just need 1 or 2 more people working there.
The hotel is built into the side of a mountain, so the trek to the rooms is extremely steep, but we didn’t find this to be a problem as there are golf carts to take you around the property and you never had to wait more than 2 minutes. Just something to be aware of, but this is what enables the incredible views - definitely worth it in my opinion :)

The view and the cool vibes
The glass door at the bathroom was not enough to close properly and the floor was always messy after the shower because the water was going out of the shower in the rest of the toilet room
