We had a wonderful time at Baxter’s Hideaway! Easy access to the lake and causeway, comfortable beds, and beautifully curated decor. All photos of this listing are very accurate.

Great location right on the causeway trail. Decent water access as well. Close to Burlington and South Hero with lots of fun places to visit.

We had a wonderful week at the cabin, perfectly located and accurately listed. Hosts were easily available. Could not have asked for a better Vermont location and vacation.

Unfortunately, it rained all weekend and we weren’t able to take advantage of the great location close to the lake and causeway. Hope to come back another time when the weather is more cooperative so we can bike and kayak.

This is very eclectic, interesting little place. It was adequately furnished with everything you'd need in the kitchen, including ice trays to make ice. Being so close to the causeway was the best!! We did lots of walks and fishing and exploring over there - that made this worth it. Our only issue was there is only one window unit AC for the entire house. When we walked in at check-in the house was 89 degrees as no one had turned on the window unit. We were able to get it down to a comfortable level by the next day. Just be sure to check the weather before your stay!

Loved the short walk to lake Champlain! Cabin was a bit difficult to find at night, but cozy once we got there.

Enjoyed our 4 nights in Burlington. The cabin was comfortable for 2 but no more. Wish a few more dollars were put into sheets and pillows but other than that we liked the cabin.

Baxter's Hideaway was absolutely wonderful. Communication was excellent - quick and helpful. The proximity to the Island Line Trail was unmatched - we were able to hop on our bicycles without driving anywhere. The accommodations were better than the pictures, and like other reviews, we found so many things to look at - so much care and detail all around. The shower was good. The beds were comfortable. We didn't cook, but it had everything we'd have needed if we did. We enjoyed reading the guest book. We are very much looking forward to a return trip!

This is an A+ property in a fantastic location. Communication with the owner/manager was very clear, the house was very comfortable (great mattress, high quality sheets and pillows, excellent water pressure, plenty of seating), and the proximity to the Colchester Causeway made for some fantastic walks.

We had a very comfortable stay! The house was just as presented in the listing. Very artsy and eclectic. Kitchen had just what we needed. The proximity to the Causeway couldn’t have been better! The owner was very communicative in advance and the check-in process was perfect.

The location was very restful, set back from the road with a lovely very private yard surrounded w trees that whispered in the breezes off the lake
The interior was so pretty, had all been recently renovated with lovely choices of wood paneling and floors, and had the most exquisitely elegant decor, unusual for a Vermont Camp but very welcome; I felt like a princess. One could simply sit and look around the room and be pleased with the artwork and choice of fabrics and furnishings.
Also had the big screen and choices of networks for my viewing pleasure.
My daytime guests were equally enchanted by Baxter's ( Albert's) Hideway... and every day we would discover new treasures in his collections.
Also being a water lover, I was glad he had a kayak to take paddling. Had a lovely trip around the point and also out the Causeway a bit. And also waded out for a refreshing swim in the cool waters of Lake Champlain. Made it a completly perfect vacation spot. It was very difficult to leave!!

Elizabeth and I really had a lovely time. The house was warm and welcoming, and had an endearing, quirky feel. The location was ideal, with Lake Champlain a stone's throw away. We rested, made delicious dinners, sampled the local cuisine (Leunig's!!!), kayaked, strolled, and took daily bicycle rides. The house was comfy (mostly) and we enjoyed the variety of visual stimuli that comprised the decorations and furnishings of the property. There are a few "suggestions" to share, but those will be done privately. It's hard to imagine not having a restful vacation here.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Baxter’s Hidaway. The decor was very interesting and engaging. The kitchen had everything we needed and we ate breakfast and dinner here each day. We loved how close to the causeway we were and the neighborhood was charming. It made it easy to get a walk in every day. The beds were super comfy as was the couch. All the chairs were nice to sit in and we really had a good time here. We took day trips out on our motorcycle and spent the evenings at the cozy cabin. Thanks!

Great place to be and live for a few days so close to the Causeway with short day trips to Sisters of Anarchy Ice Cream, Healthy Living for groceries, Shelburne Farms, and Burlington Church Street Marketplace. Cottonwood in the air added to the wonder and charm

The comfort, location, and charm of this place were unparalleled for how we wanted to spend our wedding anniversary. The view from causeway over Mallet’s Bay is a must see and proximity to Burlington was convenient enough for daily trips into town. The area is very clean and well cared for, but we did do some litter removal on our causeway walks to help shield the bay and its inhabitants. We would love to see others follow suit (when, of course, it is safe to do so)

Baxter’s hideaway was the perfect secluded cabin for a cold and rainy July.

Extremely Clean and quiet place in a wonderful location
Lovely quiet location just off Lake Champlain and the Bike path to Burlington or Heroes and Grand Isles. Extremely clean and interestingly decorated. It took a few days absorb all the decor! Very comfortable mattresses, but we learned that our days of sleeping in a full sized bed are over. Highly recommend for a couple’s get away.

A horse of a different color
The property is exactly as it appears in the pictures with an eclectic and diverse collection of very interesting decor. The cottage is in a nice neighborhood and has a great outdoor area. A very clean setting with comfortable beds and everything you need to make for a nice stay. Close enough to downtown Burlington with numerous restaurants and shops to visit. The only unusual thing about the accommodations was a privacy factor......intimacy is a must for visitors due to an open concept environment. Overall we enjoyed our stay and wanted for not. Since it was fall when we visited I can not comment on a summer type setting yet many roads offer beautiful views of the lake with nice bike and walking paths nearby.

Baxter’s Hide-Away
this is a very nice place that we will visit again, anyone that is into either kayaking or biking will love this location. the bay is close and just need to use a small set of stairs across the street to get down to the water to a semi private beach . this part of the lake very safe from the waves of the main lake and the water is so clear. a must is to get out and see the sunset over the Adirondack mountains. for bikers the paved trail is just down the road. and you can take a bike across the bay or go into Burlington. the owner did a great job setting this place up and the house has two kayaks to use. a new BBQ grill and everything you need

Summer shack
My fiancé and I had a lovely, quiet weekend away in Maine...just what we were looking for. It is definitely a summer shack...some parts of the cottage are poorly built, but it was perfect for a quick summer vacation!
