About this villa rental
Janela do Mar is a privately owned Villa which has been totally refurbished to a very high standard in 2009. It is set in approx 3,000 sq.m plot with private electric gates and landscaped gardens with Private South West Facing Pool. There is a large Weber gas BBQ for alfresco dining with comfortable outdoor furniniture. The patio has excellent private sea views and there is a all weather Table Tennis for some leisure during your stay. The Lounge has a 40' LED TV, DVD player, surround, Sonos system and Wifi. The Kitchen has been fitted with an American Fridge Freezer with Ice Maker, Hob, Oven with Extractor Hood, Dishwasher and Coffee Machine. The Laundry Room is fitted with Washing Machine and Tumble Dryer. The Master Suite is located on the first floor with own private bathroom and terrace and fantastic sea views. The other three bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the ground floor. Carvoeiro: Carvoeiro is a pretty fishing village with its own beach just 45 minutes along the coast road west of Faro Airport and 3 hours south of Lisbon . Still retaining the character and tradition of Portuguese life, the local shops and mini-Mercado's sell most of the things you will need. There is also a Bank, Bureau de Change, Pharmacy and 2 Doctors Clinics. Carvoeiro has all the essentials for the perfect holiday. The local market sells fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and locally caught fish. There is also a good butcher and a baker in the village. The much larger town of Portimao with its fishing harbour, numerous restaurants and many varied shops is only 10 minutes drive away. A whole day can be spent there starting with breakfast of freshly caught sardines grilled alfresco by the harbour side. Restaurants - Bars - Nightlife: The many bars and restaurants offer all types of cuisine including Vietnamese, Italian, French and of course Portuguese, where you can enjoy an excellent meal of freshly caught fish and sample the famous inexpensive Portuguese wines. Prices vary so check the menu outside. All of the restaurants welcome children and some have special children's menus. Golf and Tennis, Slide'n'Splash.: Our property is within walking distance of the on the beautiful Vale do Milho course. Rounds can be arranged through the Club House. There are two more courses in Carvoeiro, these are Gramacho and Pinta and facilities here also include a driving range. The championship course at Penina a 20 minute drive away and the world famous Vilamoura is a 35 minute drive. Vale do Lobo is only a 40 minute drive away. If taking golf clubs, these may need to be notified to your airline. A half set is allowed per person but is included in the baggage allowance (20 kilos). Other Activities: Tennis Club at Rocha Brava which is a 5 minute walk. Slide'n'Splash is 10 min drive away.

Overall the villa was very nice. The AC units in the family room and kitchen wouldn't come on most of the time, but that didn't really matter because it wasn't hot outside. We would stay there again.

A great location and wonderful home. The outdoor shower and washroom were convenient to have near the pool and we appreciated having pool towels and lounge chairs for everyone. We also appreciated being able to communicate with Isabel. Thank you for a great stay!

Isabel was great from the very start. Very quick responses and really helpful. There were a couple of little issues during our stay-nothing serious but Isabel got them sorted very quickly.
The villa has lots of space and the kitchen is well equipped. We loved the pool and the sun beds are great. 2 new parasols and a sunshade over the dining table provide shade if that’s what you want.
Directions say that the Lighthouse bar is 10 mins away but there is a little back way in which means you are there in 3 minutes! It’s a lovely place and we very happily went there several times for aperitifs or dinner. Not the cheapest but a lovely terrace and good food. Staff are very friendly too.
Carvoeiro is an easy drive and a nice little place. Less spoiled than some of the other towns.
All in all, to be recommended.

To eat together as a party of 8 would be at the circular wooden table but is very tired and has wobbly chairs. Wood has become lose.

A FUIR ABSOLUMENT
Je mets 1 étoile car on ne peut pas mettre 0.
L’annonce indiquait une mise à disposition à 14h. A notre arrivée à 15h, quelle déception !
Les draps usagés des anciens occupants étaient encore dans les lits, des sacs poubelles remplis de déchets se trouvaient dans la cuisine et les salles de bains. Les sols intérieur et extérieur et les poignées de portes étaient tellement collants que nous n’osions les toucher.
Bref, le logement est resté dans l’état dans lequel les anciens locataires l’ont laissé .
2 heures après notre appel à la propriétaire une équipe de 3 personnes se présente pour la nettoyer.
Ce n’est qu’à 19h30 que nous pouvons enfin disposer de la maison, toutefois vu l’état de celle-ci ils n’ont pas pu faire de miracle, notre première journée est gâchée.
De nouveau quelle déception! Le canapé est rempli de tâches cachées par des couvertures, la console de jeux annoncée est manquante toute comme le lecteur dvd et la cd-thèque, 6 transats en piteux état sont présents or la villa est annoncée pour 8 personnes, la machine à café fuit, la table de Ping-pong est inutilisable au regard de son état de délabrement total, la balançoire est pleine de déjections d’oiseaux (les enfants ne peuvent s’en servir), aucun parasol, la table extérieure est très usagée et bancale. Le nombre de serviettes de toilettes est très limité et leur qualité est médiocre, une ampoule sur deux ne fonctionne pas et cela dans chaque pièce, nous avons même dû vider le lave-vaisselle encore plein des précédents occupants, l’épuisette de la piscine déjà bien usée à été rafistolée avec de la ficelle mais reste inutilisable, certaines poignées de porte sont cassées, l’étendoir à linge est de taille ridicule pour 8 personnes.
Nous passons sur la présence de nombreuses fourmis à l’intérieur de la maison.
Les photos du site montrent pourtant un logement impeccable.
Beaucoup d’équipements de la maison annoncés sont inutilisables voire manquants.
Le comportement de la propriétaire est très décevant, nous ne l’avons eue qu’une seule fois au téléphone, le seul contact que nous avons eu ensuite c’est avec son répondeur.
Nous l’avons rappelée et lui avons envoyé des mails pour lui faire part de la situation. Elle ne nous a jamais contactés, ce qui est inacceptable.
Pour conclure, ce n’est qu’après notre départ (10 jours après) qu’elle nous envoie enfin un mail pour nous indiquer qu’elle retient la caution pour des dommages que aurions causé !!

Fantastic villa
The villa is fantastic. Very spacious inside and out with a big pool. Has everything you need for a great holiday. Isabel let us check in early as our flight arrives in the morning so the kids were in the pool by lunchtime! Great communication with the owner and the villa is well equipped with a decent gas BBQ and modern kitchen. The views from the top balcony of the sea are great. There are a few good restaurants in walking distance and 3 supermarkets within 5 mins drive. You could walk to the nearest beach in about 20 mins.

Beautiful villa with lovely views
The villa was really lovely. Views from the master bedroom and balcony especially were fantastic. We all used the pool every day and the air conditioning and Sonos sound system were nice touches. The villa was so comfortable we didn't feel we needed to venture too far except to walk to the nearby beaches a couple of times, plus a trip to the Slide and Splash park for the children. I would also recommend a boat trip to see the caves around the coastline. All in all a great place to spend a relaxing holiday.

Quiet location villa
A well equipped and spacious villa set in large grounds.
The furnishings are clean, basic and suitable for a relaxing stay.
Large supermarkets are a 5 minute drive away and a car is recommended. A hoppa bus is available into Carveoira from the bottom of the road running every half hour. Lots of restaurants found in town.

Superbe séjour

Fantastic Holiday Home
This is a lovely house with everything a family needs for a great holiday. A 30 minute walk pushing a buggy into the town. A nice walk and we found 3 routes. Again quite hilly so we always got a taxi back (about 6 or 7 euro).
Centianes beach was about 20 minute walk downhill so a tough one coming back in the heat. A good excuse to stop in Rocha Brava for a beer to cool down!
Frank and Isobel were very helpful during the booking process and responded very quickly to any queries we had when we were there.
I would definitely recommend the villa for a relaxing holiday.

Fantastic Villa
This villa is absolutely stunning, we were a party of 4 adults and two children and all our needs were catered for.
Everything is very modern, the villa is spotless and has fabulous grounds.
Frank is super helpful and when we had a minor problem it was sorted without any delay.
We would recommend a car to get into the main town of Carvoeiro , as without one you are limited to just a small number of restauraunts in walking distance.
If you like the pictures on the website, basically thats what you are going to get,
We are only providing this review so late after the holiday due to ill health on return.
Don't have any doubts about this villa if you want somewhere with all mod cons , thats peaceful, well maintained and within easy driving distance of the town

Janela do Mar
Our 2 families (7adults) spent Christmas 2010 in this lovely villa. It was all that we had wished for. The villa was tastefully decorated, warm, well maintained, clean (with the maid coming twice a week) and very comfortable. The music system was great. The TV had limited English channels but we didn't use it often. The villa is stocked with games etc for all ages.
Christmas can be a little quiet in the village but it is easy to travel around the Algarve at this time of the year. We hired a car at Faro airport and it was an easy drive from there. Frank provided us with very comprehensive directions. Although there is a local bus, we would recommend hiring a car, as the villa is more than a walking distance to the town.
The intermarche nearby provided a good variety of food and supplies, and only closed for Christmas Day.
We played golf at the Pestana Golf Resort. It is a lovely course and the staff and players were very friendly.
We booked the villa from Australia. Frank was very helpful and always answered any questions promptly. Bank fees from Australia can be quite expensive, but Frank was helpful with these arrangements.
We would gladly recommend the villa to other families.

One week in heaven
Before we arrived, the owner Frank Klijnman, provided us with lots of information. Not only about the house itself, but also about things to do in the area.
Upon arrival at Janelo do Mar, which was in the evening, we were already excited about this accomodation: very luxury kitchen, bedrooms (Master bedroom electrical bed), great matrasses, design bathrooms and even a Sonos music system (my son was very excited about this). The entire house, including all bathrooms, were very clean.
When we woke up in the morning, we were even more excited: splendid views and a great pool. We were lucky with the weather; 22 degrees celsius in february. Near the pool the kids enjoyed the ping pong table and we enjoyed the beautiful garden: very well- maintained. On the plasma tv, even all dutch channels could be selected. During the week, the poolman even checked the (already very clean pool.
Nearby the house a small supermarket with freshly-baked sandwiches in the morning. A bit further, 5 minutes by car, a huge supermarket. Near the house 3 nice restaurants, we enjoyed Julio's most, and in the centre of Carvoeiro lots of restaurants. We enjoyed the Tapas Restaurant near the sea the most; splendid views!
We have been in lots of accomodations in this price class, but so far Janelo do Mar was really the best! We really recommend this accomodation and we ourselves will return next year!

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in this beautiful villa. From the minute we arrived it felt like a home and not a holiday rental. It has been beautifully renovated and obviously no expense has been spared. The owners are excellent to deal with and nothing is too much trouble,
We had 3 teenagers and a 2 year old with us and the villa catered for all of us. The boys particularly enjoyed the playstation and we were all very competitive when it came to the table tennis competitions. The sonos music system is fantastic so there is no need to bring ipods and speakers. The villa caters for small children very well with toys and baby equipment.
The layout of the villa lends itself to all combinations of families and extended families, we used the downstairs bedrooms and didnt need to use the master suite upstairs. The beds are very comfortable which is not always the case with villa rentals. We also felt that the villa was very private and secure, our two year old had great fun running around and playing on the swing and climbing frame.
The kitchen which isnt shown in the photos is a very well equiped with top of the range appliances which are all brand new. The kitchen leads out to a beautiful covered barbeque area which we used a lot during our stay. You could stay in this villa all day and not leave and be quite happy and entertained. We did enjoy several local restaurants our favourite being Julios which is within walking distance. I would advise you book this restaurant as it is very popular. We also enjoyed splash and slide which is a great day out and very close by. Even if like me you are not a fan of waterparks and slides there are several very large pools and very nice sunbathing areas.
If you want to do some shopping visit the Algarve Shopping Centre which is about 20 minutes away.
We all agreed that this was one of the best holidays we have had and definitely the best villa we have rented.Our 2 year old summed up the holiday on our last day when he said he didnt want to go home because our holiday was perfect !

Everything one expected and more
The accommodation and facilities at the villa were exceptional. As we had a 7 month old child with us the attention to detail of his requirement was remarkable (high chair, cot, toys etc).The sonos music system kept everyones musical tastes catered for making the TV redundant. The taxi drivers had a bit of difficulty with the address of the villa. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone. The owners were most helpful ensuring our stay was a success. Will definately revisit the villa

we recently stayed in this villa for a week and from start to finish i would thoroughly recommend it. the owners were always extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble. the villa itself was absolutely beautiful and everything was immaculate. it had every facility you could need for a perfect holiday, even toys for the children. we would definitely return there and have no problems recommending this beautiful villa.
