Authentic 1940's cabin next to Mirror Lake with indoor fireplace, screened porch It doesn't get more charming than Hickory Hill, an authentic wooden cabin that's been updated true to its 1940's roots. With a view of Mirror Lake and all the quirk and charm from the era, this home boasts original wood paneled walls, shiplap, vaulted wooden ceilings, and a stone hearth fireplace. Enjoy relaxing on the screened porch or open air deck overlooking Mirror Lake. Oozing rustic charm, Hickory Hill has 2 King suites, one with a large sleeping loft and separate TV den perfect for kids or teens. The Location: Hickory Hill is located In-town Highlands, NC. With a 1minute walk to Mirror Lake, it's just far enough from the beaten path that you will have privacy but close enough that dinner/shopping on Main Street is less than a mile's drive away. The Property: Hickory Hill is nestled with a grove of other quaint and tiny cabins in an easily accessible part of Highlands. We have a small, lushly landscaped yard. There are 4 rocking chairs on the back deck overlooking Mirror Lake perfect for bird watching or soaking in some peace and quiet. We also have a screened porch facing the lake with furniture ripe to cozy into with a good book and a cup of coffee. The Cabin: Hickory Hill has authentic rustic charm with all the common amenities. Open the wooden front door and surround yourself with original milled beadboard walls and ceilings, and patina'd hardwood floors. The Layout: From the private side courtyard, guests walk up 5 stairs to the side door, which enters into the foyer/dining area with expandable table for 4-6. The open floor plan flows into the living area with stone hearth fireplace and 75" TV. The cozy kitchen and both King Bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are off to the right. One of the King suites has a set of stairs leading to a sizable sleeping loft with two twin beds and a separate TV den. The screened porch accessible from the dining area that flows onto the open air deck. The Area: Highlands, NC is the premier mountain destination in the Southeast. Lined with shopping, dining, museums and galleries, the bustling mountain village centering around Main Street is straight from a Norman Rockwell painting. Previously a summer/fall hotspot, it's quickly becoming a year-round destination. At 4,118 feet, it's one of the few temperate rain forests in North America, bringing botanists and nature lovers from all over the world. Highlands is also a mecca for outdoor enthusiasts. With an abundance of opportunities for biking, hiking, horseback riding, tubing, canoeing, fly fishing, and whitewater rafting, adventure-seekers will not find a more beautiful backdrop. The Details: Flat Parking for 2 cars is directly in front of the house and easily accessible. The living room, both bedrooms, and the upstairs have large flat screen smart TV's and fiber optic cable. We also have wifi. The kitchen is well stocked from the Bosch appliances to the Le Creuset and All Clad cookware. All of our cabins are pet friendly with prior approval and a nominal pet fee. *Hickory Hill does not have a yard- While we do have a beautiful lake view, the yard and dock adjacent to this rental are private property. Lake access is a brief 1 minute walk. The property has a screened porch, deck, and courtyard. **We cannot be responsible for weather related/ and or personal emergency issues affecting travel. All guests are encouraged to obtain travel insurance.

Wonderful accommodation for 4 adults traveling with an infant. Very cozy and well stocked. I wished the listing had mentioned there was a portable crib available. I only have two complaints, one was there was very limited hot water, especially with 4 adults needing showers. Most of the time our shower in the guest room, at best, was barely warm, we had to alternate showering at different intervals to make it work. The other, was no ice in the icemaker, we flipped the arm down in the icemaker, but still no ice. Other than those minor things, everything else was great! Very quiet and decorated beautifully. A very short drive to downtown; I wouldn't say walkable, but short driving distance. Pride of ownership really shows.

Hickory Hill is a lovely house in a quiet neighborhood. The owner has thought of everything from linens, to a very well equipped kitchen. Two very nice King suites with newly renovated bathrooms, along with an additional room in loft. We appreciated the attention to detail throughout the house. Proximity to downtown is wonderful, you can walk on charming streets or drive and be in the middle of the action in minutes. I used the recreation center daily for exercise.. We would highly recommend the house and host!

Met an old friend I has not seen in 5 years and couldn’t have found a better place to visit the past and enjoy the present! The cabin was charming, kitchen was well appointed, beds were comfortable and the owner was excellent in communicating with me...so convenient to town too!

If you are looking to enjoy some cozy mountain time, Hickory Hill is a charming cabin with excellent amenities and an ideal location within Highlands. The upstairs loft was perfect for our daughters, and we loved curling up in front of the fireplace at night. We can't wait to stay again!

There were 5 of us who spent 5 nights at Hickory Hill and it was an awesome house! It was perfect for the 5 of us. It was a charming cozy home that met our expectations. It was very comfortable and located in a charming neighborhood which was close to downtown Highlands. The kitchen had everything you would need and everything was high quality. I would highly recommend this home for a mountain get away.

We had another perfect stay with Elevate. Their properties and service truly go the extra mile. Hickory Hill is a great location to walk into town. It’s adorable, quaint, and very well equipped. We enjoyed the nice, large TV for the SEC game. We recommend it and will be back.

This charming cottage, tucked next to the beautiful Mirror Lake, is everything you want your Highlands escape to be and more. It is perfectly stocked with anything and everything you would need, incredibly clean and well-kept, and decorated adorably. The beds and accommodations were so comfortable and it made for such a relaxing and cozy retreat. We have stayed in this property twice. It is so lovely. Wonderfully furnished and appointed. Beds are very comfortable. Wonderful appliances and well stocked kitchen. We absolutely love staying here and it is so close to town. Lots around to do with young children!

What a fabulous house and location. Every decor detail was amazing, cozy and charming. We stayed for three weeks and could have stayed longer. Our stay was wonderful. The cabin was perfect for our family of four. The decor was beautiful and also very comfortable - it had almost everything we needed. I appreciate the attention to detail throughout the house. I especially loved the kitchen and the bunk room was the perfect space for my two young girls. Truly Special
Deciding to spend 11 nights through Christmas was probably the best thing we've done all year. As my partner and I own a showroom that caters exclusively to Architects and Designers we have extremely high expectations. THEY WERE MET. Upon arrival even though the home does not have expansive grounds it more than makes up for it in the charm and location of the cabin. We found all of the comforts of home and it was obvious that the owners have both good taste and an attention to detail. Since we arrived just as the Omicron was hitting we found most of our dining plans canceled but not to worry as the kitchen is appointed with everything a chef would need!! So we found ourselves making gourmet dinners while enjoying a cozy fire. The neighbors around the cabin were simply wonderful! You'll find the location perfect for a quick drive into town or a leisurely walk. We will be booking again for the summer and cannot wait to return.

My family and I had a wonderful time in this home. The home is decorated wonderfully and is very cozy. We used the wood burning fireplace all week and enjoyed sitting in the rocking chairs on the back porch. The home is located in a great location so we could take our daily walks and get to town quickly if we needed anything. I would highly recommend this home. Looking forward to our next trip to Highlands!

Wonderful stay!
Hickory Hill was our home away from home for 4 too short nights while we were undergoing house renovations. The decor was unique and very stylish. Master bed and pillows were super comfy- and I hate to admit that I am hard to please on these. Kitchen had nice cookware and everything needed. My only wish is that it had less bedrooms so we could afford to stay in this cabin more often, but we look forward to staying in one of the other properties next visit to Highlands. We have been looking for our cabin rental company there (we have our go-to in Blue Ridge) and I think we may have found. Thanks Kristy for all the recs.

Decorators dream of old Highlands, thoughtfully updated.
Girlfriends trip at Hickory Hill was perfect as it was well appointed with bright clean comfortable furniture, and at the same time it felt like old time Highlands. We loved that it was so close to town and still walking the area around Mirror Lake was bracing and beautiful. We will definitely visit this place again. Thank you for all the personal touches you added, as it felt like we were staying at a friends newly decorated and updated home.

We had a fantastic stay at Hickory Hill! The property was beautifully done with every detail perfectly executed! Fluffy white towels were pristinely folded, everything was spotless, the kitchen was stocked with high end cookware and tableware and everything was perfectly in its place!
We stay at vacation rental properties fairly often and we have never been as impressed as we were at Hickory Hill. You know the feeling you have when you check into a high end hotel and it feels like someone was there moments before you arrived making sure the place was perfect in every way? Well, that is how we felt at Hickory Hill!
Additionally, we were given an extensive list of things to do, restaurant recommendations and grocery store recommendations. We really relied on the recommendations and they did not disappoint. Great visit to Highlands and fantastic stay at Hickory Hill!
