Towels, furniture and restaurant

The area and beautiful swimming pool

1. The towels weren't soft, the table byt the TV was ready to just fall and break. 2. Fact that when there is a private function at koi we can even order drinks to sit by the poolside

No attention to detail

We stayed in an apartment on the 16th floor. At face value the apartment looked stunning but we quickly found out that things weren’t what they seemed. The air-cons didn’t work; the toilet seats were loose in both bathrooms; both showers leaked water onto the bathroom floors; the Shower handle in main bathroom was bent and loose; the bathtub didn’t have a working plug which was a real disappointment for our 6 year old who loves taking baths; the toilet and shower doors seem to have been installed the wrong way in, making getting in out of them super awkward; the patio table was broken and lastly there wasn’t much Cutlery and kitchen ware. Overall the apartment has a lot of potential but the lack of attention to detail is a big let down. Honestly all the things I’ve mentioned above could all be sorted in a day by a handy man. A little effort and attention to detail would go a long way.

Menlyn Maine for the win!

The apartment was absolutely stunning and the safety and security access features of the building really gave us peace of mind on our holiday. The views from my balcony were exceptional!

There was no toilet brush in my unit, seems like it had broken previously and had not been replaced. No soap holder in the shower

Will most probably not stay there again.

Location

The parking bays are small. The neighbours were noisy until 4:00am. The lifts weren’t working properly. No aircon and extremely hot period in Pretoria.

Terribly disappointed

Apartment untidy and dirty. Cockroaches. Only 1 towel. It was our wedding anniversary and was supposed to be a special romantic evening. Very disappointing.

Room was dirty, we found two dirty towels in the room and hair on the bathroom floor toilet seat was broken the room curtain was broken the apartment had a very bad smell.

Friendly staff, great location, clean apartment, poor hosting

Great location, very clean

Only two very thin pillows on the bed, was told by reception to contact the host, which I did, no answer, and also no reply to my whatsapp message. Only two medium sized towels provided. Seems like the host is not very invested in this and also not in their guests.

Great location, modern space

Having access to the pool on the top level was great! A view of the whole city. Private parking spot. We were on ground level, so we had our own little garden.

Horrible

The whole apartment smells like a sewage. It smells like someone peed on the floors. We had to open both sliding doors throughout the night because the horrible toxic smell comes straight to the bed because the bathroom & bedroom is an open plan. The smell is unhygienic and toxic. The bed is so hard & uncomfortable. This apartment does not fit to be at Menlyn Maine or under The Capital. A waste of money & horrible stay. Apartment 1517

Terrible.

Location

No aircon, no fan. Towels wet. Sheets wet. Mosquitos in room. Curtains fell from rail. No dustbin. Bed as hard as a rock. Half the Lights broken. No plug for bedside lamps. Kitchen had not enough stock

Horrible

It was a horrible experience. Never again!!!

Everything was a disaster, from the broken door handle to smelly blankets, no air-con, no shower gels. I regret booking this room.

Great place to stay in Pretoria to experience shopping and entertainment at your finger tips.

The unit is on the second floor facing Amarand Ave., it is well located since you literally just have to walk across the road to get to Menlyn Maine and the Casino is just a 100 meters further out. The restaurant and swimming pool on the 16 floor was worth going to, had a great view with tasty food and drinks. As was the garden on the ground floor, it is a lovely feature to go and take a late afternoon walk in. List of Pros: - The reception lady was friendly and explained clearly where to find the underground parking lot. - The unit had aircons as advertised. - The TV was working. - The unit had an iron, fridge, kettle, glasses and dishes, oven and stove. - 24 hour security inside and around the area. Every access point had a magnetic key card reader to get in and out of the premises. - Fast internet speed. - Great shower facilities. - Back up generators for when it was load shedding. - We were advised at reception that if there was anyone making noise past a certain hour then the security would get involved and we were given a number to call reception if we needed assistance from them. - The bed was spacious I assume it's a queen or king size, however it's standard length, not XL. All my tall people will know what I mean 😂

The parking at reception is practically always full (even at late hours like 20:00 when I checked in), so you will have to park your car blocking others while you go to reception to get your keys before parking downstairs. The unit was not thought through properly with appliances and cutlery even though it is a self catering unit. List of Cons: - We only got two towels and we stayed for 6 nights... - The wifi instructions that were glued on the inside of the front door of the unit did not work, however props to the owner/caretaker they gave us the correct wifi name and password quickly over whatsapp. - The unit did come with a hairdryer but didn't provide a round plug adapter for it. - The unit only had ONE tea spoon 😅 - The unit did have a washing machine but the cable was too short to reach the plug. So we couldn't use it. - The aircon in the main bedroom made a strange noise when switched on, like someone is drilling upstairs every 2 minutes or so. - Questionable white spots on the couch. - Neighbours on the balcony that smoke weed.

Great location but apartment had some flaws

Location was great! Walking distance from Menlyn Maine and all the restaurants.

The aircon was not working and in the extreme heat it was really important. Thus the reason for an uncomfortable stay. They definitely need maintenance. The bathtub plug was broken so could not use the bath and the one shower was leaking so bad, the whole bathroom was under water. Think the apartment needs some serious maintenance.

Rather disappointed

The staff was quite friendly.

The wifi wasn't working. The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working. The unit wasn't particularly clean as we found rubble from the previous guest in the bin along with nail clippings on the bathroom floor. The curtains were filthy.

Apartment needs upkeeping!

The location was great.

The cafe table on the balcony was broken. The air-conditioners need service because they don't cool the apartment. The remotes for air-conditioners and TV needs new batteries. The main bedrooms shower is flooding the bedroom. No hairdryer in apartment. I really think the apartment needs some upkeeping!

Unit is below standard for Menlyn Maine, dirty bedding, no fan or aircon, insufficient and dirty glasses and cutlery, damaged curtain railing - cant close curtains properly. Clearly no pre-inspection was done.

Very very disappointing.

Room was not ready upon check in. The rooms were very very dirty with a fowl smell. We rented two rooms and none of the rooms cable service worked so no TV. The towels was very old and stained. Looked just like the ones I use to wash my car.

The place was nice and neat and convenient. The place had DSTV with options to Catchup. The place had WiFi and a working station that was convenient for me to work from.

The beds in both rooms were extremely uncomfortable and noisy from the springs. We could barely sleep. It was worse than most of the 3 star guest houses I have visited. Those were the worst beds I have ever slept on whilst traveling away from my home. The couch in the lounge could only accommodate 2 people whereas we were three in number. There was non bin, but rather a refuse bag, which seemed a bit odd for an apartment of that nature. The floor was full of dust, not certain whether it’s due to the construction work adjacent to the apartments.

Good but needs attention on the finer things.

I always stay at Menlyn Maine Apartments when Traveling to Pretoria. The location is perfect.

This is the first apartment I stayed in that doesn’t have any complimentary items such as coffee,tea or milk. Also no teaspoons. If you don’t have a Netflix account you are stuck because you need to log in on your own account to watch tv.

It was too expensive for what I got, the pillow cases were wet, I asked for other and got more wet ones. There was noting in the showing to put shampoo etc on. What a mission.

Good location, but some unit maybe not that good

Good location. Nice restaurants and shops close by!

The one unit had no airconditioning. The other unit we booked had aircons but did not work. Asked reception to fix but only told us phone the owner. Yes it is apartments but still I would really thought the people at reception would have been more helpful

Horrible. Not sure if i will ever stay there again. I really had high expectations

Close to my workplace and restaurants

Property there is nothing i can foul there. Problem is with the unit and the owner of it. I found hair in the shower. The couch was dirty. There was no iron in the room. I had to go around looking for it at reception. This wasted my time. I tired calling the host. Their phone was off the whole time of my stay. I got a PA Number at reception. Phone rang the whole time but wasn't answered. I felt horrible about the whole situation. I paid to stay there and it seems that's all the ownered cared about and not the guest. I have never seen anything like this before. Really disappointed. I was really on my own. Even had to change my outfit because i couldn't iron my clothes. Really unacceptable cause I looked unprofessional at work.
