About this house rental
Plan the perfect get away to Houghton Lake by booking the Trail Away Cabin for your stay! This house is large and will easy sleep 10-12, making it perfect for your family getaway, couples weekend, or a hunting trip up north. It is a three bedroom, 1 1/2 bathroom house. Two rooms with two full size beds, and one bedroom with a queen bed. Large living room with couches and an additional large rec room with a couch and 2 futons for additional sleeping. The kitchen has everything you need for appliances; full size fridge, electric stove, microwave, dishes, basic utensils, crockpot, griddle, toaster & coffee maker. Large bathroom with shower and 1/2 bath off the living room. Washer & dryer provided to use while staying. Please bring your own laundry soaps if you plan on using them. The house is fully furnished with linens and towels. We do provide 1 roll of toilet paper and 1 roll of paper towel, it is recommended to bring additional. Dish soap and hand soap is provided. Central AC & fans provided. There is back yard area with a deck, fire pit, gas grill and picnic table. You'll enjoy the HUGE garage space to store your toys while you stay. The garage is furnished with patio furniture, a dart board & an air compressor. Large paved driveway with plenty of parking. If you enjoy playing on the lake or hitting the trails this spacious house is the perfect location. It's located just down the road from beautiful Houghton Lake with public lake access at the end of the road & close to public beaches & boat launch. Its close proximity to the lake means you are just a couple steps away from boating, fishing and kayaking on beautiful Houghton Lake. You are also minutes away from the Denton Creek ATV trail/ORV Routes and snowmobile trails, linking you to miles of ATV trails & ORV routes. From the house you can hit the trails and ride to beautiful destinations like St. Helen, Leota & more. Roscommon County is an ORV friendly county so you can ride from the housr to the trails, stores or to enjoy dinner at local restaurants. WIFI & Televisions do have streaming capabilities. Multiple family board games and cards available. Please note: No pets allowed. No Parties or Events. No smoking allowed indoors. You must be at least 25 years old to rent this cabin. You will be responsible for any damage to the rental property caused by you or your party during your stay.

It was a nice up north cabin in a neighborhood. Close to trails and all amenities the area provides.

This is a perfect cabin to stretch out and relax. The outdoor space has a garage that is great for rainy days and a fire pit for those night time s’mores. My family, my parents, and brothers family each had a room for privacy. The kids could throw a ball in the grass, dribble a basketball in the driveway, and chill out with a movie inside. Beaches were close and nice. Shopping and things to do were all close by and easy to navigate too. You don’t have to bring the sand and dirty beach towels home with you there is a washing machine and dryer. Next time we will bring our bikes. We never had a problem but was in contact with the owners the day we started our stay and the day we left and contact info was well posted. I would definitely recommend this place.

My brother lives in Gladwin but does not have enough space to house the 6 of us. This place was clean, comfortable and accommodating for a large group to sleep, stay, visit and play games.

My friends and I get together every year in Houghton Lake. This is the first time in the last decade we decided to try out a VRBO in town and we will certainly be coming back, she was a great host and we had an awesome time.

Perfect for a group of fishing

Only complaints are first not very many cooking supply’s like pots and pans were not very good almost like the cheapest you could get to cook with and very limited pots and pans defiantly not enough to cook a regular meal. The main reason I stayed here or a VRBO was so I didn’t have to eat out much and bring much like camping. Also there were restrictions on what we could use like cups. Finally it’s advertised there was a grill I reached out and asked owner if there was propane she said yes but that we may want to bring a tank. We couldn’t fit it and we decided to only do hotdogs so figured if there’s enough for that great. When I went to make hot dogs for our big family hotdogs I was extremely disappointed there was absolutely no propane and at 175 a night you would think those few things would be of use. Other than that nice property clean close to everything lots of room and quiet neighborhood.

2nd Stay
We stayed last year as well, the added A/C and 2nd bathroom were great new additions. There is plenty of room and this is in a good location, making it a great place to stay. We would definitely return again.

Only complaint we had was we needed more towels. Other than that, very clean and accommodating vacation rental. My family had a blast and will definitely be returning.
