About this house rental
Come visit beautiful, family friendly Hawks Nest Beach where you will find a fresh & clean, charming Beach Bungalow that is sure to please! Located on the most popular dead-end street at the beach with a partial ocean view, our 1940's bungalow style cottage is full of a long line of Hawks Nest Beach history and has been transformed into a beachy oasis. The location cannot be beat as you are close to tennis courts, ice cream, the candy store, crabbing on the jetty and more...the beach is within walking distance just down the road. The Beach Bungalow is only a hop skip and a jump away from the famous Old Lyme Carousel and ice cream shop not to mention close to Mystic, Foxwoods & Mohegan Casinos. Step into a bright, open and airy space! A comfy sofa and chairs fill the vaulted great room along with a gas fireplace for those early spring and chilly fall nights. There is a dining table that sits 6 comfortably. The kitchen area offers everything you will need for dining and cooking while staying with us and comes complete with coffee maker and microwave. The Beach Bungalow offers everything you will need for dining and cooking while staying with us! Our home will comfortably sleep 6 guests offering 3 bedrooms. Two of the vaulted ceiling bedrooms each have a queen size bed and the third bedroom has twin bunk beds with trundle. Both queen bedrooms have a flat screen TV and are decorated with beautiful, vintage inspired coastal furnishings that will provide a very restful stay. The cottage has 1 full bathroom with full size tub and an outdoor shower. Last but certainly not least, chill out on our screened-in front porch with comfortable seating, dining area, evening string lights, partial ocean views and cool breezes. When you come in from the sun & sand, rinse off in our hot/cold outdoor shower! There is parking available for 2 vehicles and complimentary High speed WIFI included. Please bring your own linens, towels, toiletries and a pillows for sleeping (comforters on beds are provided) and propane tank for the gas grill. At the end of your stay, we have a small tidy up checklist but after checkout we have a cleaning service come in to clean. Sorry, but we do not allow smoking of any kind in our home or on the premises. Please note that we do have motion detected security cameras on the property. One on the front porch that observes the front entrance, one in the parking area and one at the back entrance.

This house is perfectly adorable! Its coastal decor makes you instantly happy when you walk in. We only stayed one night since we were just in town to visit our Coast Guard Academy Cadet, but wished we could stay longer. We said we’d be back next fall! Our only complaints were that we could not get the gas fireplace started or the TV in the family room to work. More importantly, though, the bed and mattress in the back bedroom were very uncomfortable. The bed was very squeaky and the mattress was shot and needs to be replaced. The soft topper is not correcting the problem. The bed would be an easy fix to make the cottage truly delightful.

We stayed at this adorable beach cottage for four nights and enjoyed day trips to the Mystic Seaport Museum and the Mystic Aquarium. Kristine has an excellent eye for design and decor. It’s decorated beautifully and it’s very functional for a family of four. Nice neighbors and lovely neighborhood to walk around too. Highly recommend!

Loved the ”old fashioned” cottage feel… small and cozy but felt roomy! The knotty pine was charming! Reminded me of cottages from the past!

Cute home….however I would not have rented it had I known I had to bring my own sheets and towels. Not something I want to do when staying in a home for one night on my way to Maine. You should put that out there for people to see before selecting this home.

This beach house is very close to the ocean, so close you can hear the waves. The house was clean and had a very beach feel to it. Wish we had more time to stay. Would defiantly recommend staying here.

The neighborhood is quiet and welcoming and the cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated! Very warm and cozy even after the sun went down. Bedrooms and beds are comfortable and the back deck/yard was a nice surprise. Front porch is perfect for reading and watching the sunsets. We would rent here again in a heartbeat!!! Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars all around was that some items mentioned in the listing weren’t there (toaster) and the vacuum was a bit full. I like to leave a house clean, especially with dogs as part of our party.

Cozy Cabin
Beautiful cozy cabin, clean and airy. Lots of space , 3 bedrooms, kitchen is well appointed. Back yard with grill and picnic table , large and peaceful. 2 blocks short walk to a small beach area. Close to Mystic which is well worth visiting. Very lovely stay, will return .

Awesome Cottage - Great Location
My family had a great stay at the cottage for an extended weekend. The property is fantastic and location is awesome - quiet and very family friendly. The inside of the cottage is maintained well and very comfortable. The two porches and backyard provide great outdoor space to enjoy the atmosphere after a day at the beach. We would definitely stay again and recommend the property to anyone looking for a beach getaway in Connecticut.

Great family beach cottage
This was the perfect family beach cottage. We had a wonderful beach vacation. It’s a short 3 min walk to the beach. Our kids loved the bunk beds. The owner has a lot of books and board games which we utilized daily. It’s a cute close community. There’s a community center with a mini convenient store and they host kid activities daily. The location of Old Lyme is great…close to attractions. We visited the Aquarium and Children’s Museum. We will return!

The cottage is beautiful and well appointed. It was so nice to hear the sound of the water while sitting out on the porch. We felt right at home. Great family neighborhood!

Great weekend away!
The property was adorable and just as advertised. It was nice to be so close to the beach and the cute cottage was just what my family needed for a nice weekend getaway. The owner was very easy to get in touch with and helpful. The cottage is about a half hour from mystic town and it was a great day out.

Lovely clean cottage for a quick weekend getaway with friends
Stayed here with three friends for a Saturday night in October. The space was lovely, three bedrooms with enough room for all of us to fit comfortably as well as a great living room area for relaxing. So close to the beach and 30 min ride to Mystic for great restaurants/bars. Kristine was an excellent host (super responsive throughout the entire weekend and flexible with our check in and check out. Felt clean and safe during Covid. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful getaway!
Two friends and I rented this adorable cottage for a short Fall getaway. The cottage is cozy but didn’t feel tiny, just the right size for a few friends or a small family. Clean, lots of seating, all appliances worked great. We were content laughing and sitting around chatting like seasoned friends do, but it was nice to have WiFi, cable tv, - and ceiling fans for one humid day. Kristine was very responsive to any question via the message feature on vrbo. We look forward to a repeat booking perhaps on the Spring. :)

the perfect place
the house was so perfect. the pictures don’t even do it justice it was so cute & well maintained and taken care of! Everyone around was friendly, the owner was very helpful, the beach was wonderful - i could go on! 100% will be hopefully staying here again :)

Great little cottage!
This is a great little cottage. Stayed for 3 weeks and enjoyed all of it. The cottage is located on a dead end street so it has very little traffic and great for walking/running. Mike was a great host always got back with any queations. Highly recommended!

Relaxing weekend
We spent a long weekend at this cottage and had a very relaxing time. Sitting on the beach and walking around the community was enjoyable. We also spent a day in Mystic Center, shopping. This cottage was so well maintained and nicely decorated. We will return to stay at this cottage again. We also met Mike, the owner ,who was very pleasant and accommodating.

Cozy
After spending many years at hawks nest beach when our children were going up we decided we wanted to continue the tradition with our grandchildren who had already rented another cottage. We were pleasantly surprised when we found this home and it was available for Memorial Day weekend.
Everything was perfect!! Besides the linens and towels, everything else was provided for us, and the owner was extremely helpful answering questions and getting us any extras we needed. The bed in the front of cottage (the only one we used) was so comfortable I didn't want to get up in the morning.
Cottage was completely done over....everyone of our friends that stopped by LOVED it!!! Wish our little getaway didn't end so quickly, we were so relaxed we didn't want to leave, but looking forward to returning next year!! Thanks again Mike, a great time had by all!!

Very Enjoyable For Family Vacations!
Friends of ours were getting married near by and we thought it would be more fun and less expensive to rent a cottage with a group of friends.
We had 5 adults, a two year old and a two month old. This house was perfect! Very clean and kid friendly.
The neighborhood we just loved. The general store had kid activities to attended every day and we loved how there was quiet hours at night. It made our vacation time that much more enjoyable!
The only downfall(which isn't even a bad one) we had to walk down the road to go to the beach. It was just a short walk so it wasn't a big deal at all.
We have already started talking about going back next year!

Wonderful beach house,had a GREAT time but we were a little disappointed that we had to walk to the beach...2 blocks or more. This was a little difficult with 4 kids.
All in all we had a great time in a comfortable,clean,cozy home. LOVE the knotty pine decorating all the walls!

Great Stay
We were so taken back by the ideal location of this perfectly sized cottage. It was very comfortable for 6 of us ladies, and was really beautiful inside. The walk to the beach was super convenient, and the overal atmosphere was just really beautiful. The community is friendly and knows how to have a good time. Overal, it seems like everyone in that area is there for the same reasons - to have a relaxing vacation by the water surrounded by friends and family. What a great time. I hope we can come back next year and do it again!!
Sidenote: Don't look in the mirror in the bathroom. I promise, you're not as short and stumpy as the mirror makes you look. It's not you, it's the mirror. And it's terrible, so don't even look in it. That's my only criticism.

A Great Time!
My husband and I needed to get away from stress from work. This place was a perfect get-away for us. The house is very close to the water, and at night you can hear the waves crashing. The local people are so nice, and it is surrounded by historical places. We walked on the beach, ate seafood at nearby restaurants, and mainly just relaxed. There are many places to do and see. Mystic was a short ride, and we took a trip to the shopping district and spent the day there. The owner is very nice and reliable and responds quickly. We had a great time and we will be going back soon!

I just wanted to update my review and state that the owner came through with the refund. As I stated before, the place was beautiful, well maintained, and close to beach. This misunderstanding would not deter me from staying there again this summer. Thanks again Mike.

The cottage was absolutely beautiful. However, I am not pleased with the owner. I have contacted him several times about the security deposit and at this point, has still not sent the refund. He told me on two oocassions that he would put it in the mail this week and obviously did not. We stayed there in August. Christmas is right around the corner and as a single mother of two girls, the refund was going to be used for that. I am very disappointed and I hope to resolve this soon.
I was planning on renting it again next summer for two weeks, but now I am not so sure.

Wonderful experience
We had a wonderful time here. The cottage was cozy and immaculate. Everything was updated and new. The bedrooms were a good size. It was comfortable and we felt right at home; very relaxing and we loved the real wood everywhere! Great place to take walks or sit by the beach and relax. People we met were very friendly, and I would recommend this property if you want the low-key type of vacation.
Eating at The Grille Restaurant up the street was a pleasant experience also.
We would definately like to rent this place again!

Close to everything but yet away from it all
My husband and I and two grandchildren spent the week of April 11, 2011 at this cottage. Although the weather was uncooperative it was a great location close to everything yet we felt like we were hundred of miles away from everyone. Property is great, across the street from the ocean. We highly recommend this for families and singles. Plenty of room and has everything you need. We would go to this property again in the future.

we had a good experience.
My daughter and I spent 5 days there and we had a good time. The cottage is very updated compared to the ones we saw while walking around. The bedrooms are good size and the ceiling fans in the two bedrooms work wonders to cool it off at night. People were friendly who were also renting cottages.

Wonderful rental property
Spent a week here with my 3 grandchildren and daughter. We had a great week. The cottage has been updated nicely and was very clean. It is well supplied and the furnishings were very comfortable. After a day at the beach, we would come back to a shaded, cool backyard - very enjoyable!
We did not find a gas grill on the property that had been listed on the website and we found it very difficult to park our 2 cars in the driveway.
All in all a wonderful week in a very nice cottage. Would reccommend it highly.
