Location was amazing.Steps away from the beach. The views from the top deck were amazing. Furniture like couches and round dining table with rolling chairs were really comfortable! Theater room was very comfortable as well! To be transparent with those looking for reviews, the initial entryway could use some painting and stairs need new carpeting. But don’t get discouraged when you enter because the home is very nice especially for the price in comparison with other homes that are oceanfront with private pool, hot tub, pool table and theater room. The home needs a little more attention to minor details but overall it has everything you need for an OBX vacation!

Great views and roomy, but the house needs a lot of work and cleaning. We heard and saw mice, saw ants and ant traps and mold in showers. While we were not expecting to use the pool, the pool was half filled with sand and the color was green with stuff in it. The area around the pool was littered and our ability to walk to the beach was frustrated by the lack of a gate to the beach. We had to set-up a ladder so we can climb every time we wanted to walk along the beach or fish. Really, the house has good bones, but it should be overhauled before its put back on the market for renting.

House was full of ant. They were in the kitchen, living room, bathroom, bedroom, bed, you name it and they were there. Then there was the mice and mouse droppings and urine in the kitchen cabinets, tv cabinets. The pool was full of sand and stagnant water and trash. Every sliding door in the place had something wrong with it. None of exhaust fans work in bathrooms. Every chair in theater room is broken. Paid over 2k for a four night stay and would have gotten a better experience at a $30 a night motel

Loved the view and location, but house needs some attention to maintenance. Dishwasher did not work and was never fixed during our 8 days even though we reported the issue. Ants everywhere. Towel rack in one bathroom hang off wall and shower curtain fell. Refrigerator freezer would not make ice and made noises. Sliding door to pool and hot tub are was off track and hard to close.

We stayed here two times before years ago and the house was meticulous. This third time the list of things that needed repair or were eye sores were endless. We ended up fixing things so we could use them. There is so much dust hanging from the walls. The ceiling fans are all extremely dusty. The decorations hanging on the walls have layers of dust. Ice maker in freezer doesn’t work. There was a fly in the refrigerator. The refrigerator doesn’t keep food really cold. There was duct tape in the fridge. Kitchen cabinets are falling off. Deck outside has a broken board that looks like it’s about to give. On second floor the railings are slanted and broken. Shades were broken we fixed them so they wouldn’t look so ugly. The fan in second floor bathroom doesn’t work and is bare and uncovered. Shower rod in another bathroom fell off due to broken holder. Seat in the theatre was broken, we fixed it. The slide doors on first and third floor are so full of sand or un greased you can barely open and close them. The house is extremely run down. It was very expensive and everywhere you were you saw something unattractive. The wainscoting is peeling off the walls, missing towel rod for another bathroom. I have pictures of all of it. The house was very dirty. We cleaned all floors before we used it.
The good things- the view and sound of the ocean, the four slice toaster, the theatre after we fixed the seat.
We won’t be returning to this house.

This house needs LOTS of TLC. The location of this home is excellent and after that everything is sub par. The pool and pool area are poorly maintained. The home is dingy - it needs a deep cleaning. Deck railings are loose and there are many indoor repairs that need to be taken care of. We had an issue with ants. The kitchen is not well stocked. Considering the cost of this home, it was extremely disappointing. Hopefully whoever buys this home will restore it.

This is our second year at Sun Runner, the location and proximity to the beach is perfect! It is clear that some repairs have been done since 2021, but the house still needs some love. Now that it's for sale, we hope the right buyer will come along and give it the attention it deserves.

Generally just worn looking. Driveway was covered with 3-4 feet of sand and not passable. Took over two hours to finally get in. Kitchen could have been cleaned better and the carpeted areas were full of sand and not swept.

We enjoyed our stay mostly. The property could use some refreshing and a deep clean wouldn't hurt. The floors were pretty dirty and there were alot of ants. They did send someone to spray and that helped. The house itself is in a great location and has alot of nice amenities.

This house was amazing!! My kids and husband as well as myself enjoyed this home. I watched the sun rise each morning from my bed. Everything abouth this house was a dream. Will def stay here again.

Beautiful home close to the ocean!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sun Runner for the first week of August. We loved its proximity to the ocean and its various amenities. The home needs some repairs (water leaks, ants), but that's to be expected after a busy summer hosting many renters. We have been to OBX several times, and would definitely consider renting this home again if it gets a little TLC.

We walked in to a very filthy home which we had to clean before we could use the kitchen or bedrooms. The carpet is very dirty, the inside of the cabinets were filthy and therefore we had to wash all dishes and utensils before use. We had a missing smoke detector which was repaired when we called, but the other issues we reported such as exposed exhaust vents and lighting, mold in bathrooms, ripped screen doors, towel bars hanging from walls, were never fixed. The repairman left his ladder in the house, said he would be back and never returned. The deck facing the ocean is unsafe, spindles and rails are very loose and there were ants all over the media room. Vacasa has promised to refund a small portion of our money but that will not change the negative impact this had on our family vacation.

We had a great time and the property was a good size for us. We loved having the pool. Issues were drains were slow and kitchen sink backed up so we called maintenance. I could never get a live person and from the time I first reported the issues until fixed was 14 hours. Steve called to let me know maintenance on the way about 1 pm. Casey came and fixed everything but it would've been nice for someone to acknowledge that they received my emails and phone calls and let me know that the message had been received and issue would be resolved. You have some nails poking out on the decks, loose ballisters on the upper deck and black mold in the upper bedroom. Not really satisfactory for the amount of $$ paid. I wouldn't rent this particular property again.

Don’t rent
Pool had 14” of sand in it. Was offered $400 for the trouble. Previous tenants had same issue and real a state company never reached out to advise us prior to coming. Pool was never usable during the stay. Hot tub hadn’t been service in past 6 month. We have hired legal counsel to deal with the lack of service.

It was nice size, and the best view of a house we have had (can see bay and ocean from top floor). Very close to ocean (30 yards). It was perfectly acceptable and we had a good time. No covered parking, but that was fine.
Would not rent again for the following reasons:
1 not pet friendly, and we really wanted our one dog to come (we made special request, but declined by realty)
2. listed as vrbo, but is really Hatteras Realty (ie you are paying fees for both which was not clear)
3. the realty company did not seem to be totally organized. WE had a drain clogged and could not use kitchen and downstairs kitchen sinks. They had no "emergency services" (ie no plumber after hours); the drain backed up all over the floor on lst floor. It was not that bad and they did send someone to clean that up that evening. I guess my thought was what if it was sewage, would we all be sleeping in sewage smell all night? And the next day I was on the phone for several hours while housekeeping was unhappy that reservations called in the order, etc. And it took several visits (and it backed up onto floor a 2nd time) from different maintenance folks and was 24 hours later that we got working sink, and was resolved with cutting pipe and letting the drain water run out onto sand. It ultimately was fixed by plumber (was only 48 hours after they cut the pipe). So overall, the stay went fine. But it did not look like the support provided was adequate for a rental that costs 10k a week. To their credit they were polite by phone and the workers were nice. And we do appreciate that there can be unexpected challenges (we have had several over many years of renting a beach house)

Perfect location, perfect size, needs a few updates
Overall very happy with our stay. My family spent spring break first week of April at Sunrunner. Hatteras Realty staff was very helpful and had the house ready to go when they promised. First thing we noticed was the view! What a perfect location, right on the ocean, and from the top level you can see panoramic views of both the ocean and the sound. Pretty amazing. Plenty of room to spread out in this house, had space for all 10 adults and kids. House came with lots of amenities, including far more cooking utensils and appliances than we had been expecting. Game room was great for the kids, and the extra refrigerator and cabinet space was very useful. The beach was fantastic, and most days we had it all to ourselves. Lots of seashells to find, good sized waves for the kids, and even had several dolphins swim past in the morning. New couches in the living room, and most of the beds were surprisingly comfortable.
Only a few downsides, which was throughout the stay we never got the TV's to connect to either Wifi or to Directv. This frustrated the kids more than anyone, but was still a little disappointing as the house has a movie room, and was promised to have working tv's with access to netflix or Directv. I did contact staff about this issue several times, but it was never resolved. Our first night there we noticed the oven handle was broken and hanging off, which was concerning. However upon contacting staff they had someone out the next day to fix it. Appreciated that. Biggest letdown was probably the back deck. Several boards were loose and sticking up, several nails were sticking up, and there were splinters all over the back steps. Definitely a safety hazard for the kids! Due to the pool not being open, we were able to mostly avoid this issue, and just kept the kids away. The patio furniture around the pool was broken and very dirty, but again we didn't really need it during our stay. The back grill was dirty and very corroded. Also upon entering the house the first night, there was a very strong "musty" odor throughout the house. We aired it out and this helped.
All in all, I would definitely recommend this property, and will certainly be planning on returning. I'm hoping most of our issues were due to renting this early in the season, and when I brought them up to staff they were responsive and stated they would address them.

Spectacular!
We loved our vacation at the Sun Runner! The view was spectacular, with views of both the sunrise and sunset from the many decks.The distance to the beach was unbelievable. The pool, movie theater, hot tub and pool table were favorites. It was very spacious for our group of seven! Rodanthe NC is a gem. Some furniture shows signs of wear, but easy to overlook. The best part was escaping for a week with the people I love most! I highly recommend it.
