Nestled in Highlands, this charming house for R 3,141 per night is a great option for your next vacation. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION! This home is a wonderful gem for one or two active and fit adult couples. Newly renovated, Mountain Laurel Tree House has two very comfortable new king sized beds, 2 private en-suite full bathrooms, new furnishings and high quality linens. Our kitchen is equipped with all of the essentials as well as high end gourmet, (Viking) stove and slide in refrigerator and freezer drawers. Our home has a split bedroom layout, perfect for two couples to spend time together while maintaining the ultimate privacy. This home is not equipped for nor accepts pets nor children under 18 and maximum capacity is 4. Cancel for any reason insurance is available. PLEASE READ: This is a no pet and no children under 18 home. We do not accept either under any circumstances. Failure to comply will result in an immediate non refundable cancellation. ** This home is only accessible by flights of stairs in all three entry ways as it is situated on the mountain side. Handrails and lighting are provided however this home may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues or physical limitations. *** Firewood fees apply All linen, towels, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided for your convenience. We pre-stock the kitchen with starter Keurig pods, various creamers and sugars. We have air conditioning should it be necessary and mirror lake is a short walk from the cottage. We are a mile from town.

The small house was lovely and thoughtfully, though minimally, furnished. Once inside we were most comfortable. Alas, access to the property was difficult. Parking was tough. We felt confined to the house at night because of access. In addition to many steps to the house, parking our Outback was a challenge due to drop offs and lack of space.

This was a mother (age 55), daughter (age 24) weekend. We had planned plenty of hiking for the three days and not a lot of time at home hanging out. I read the reviews about the road noise and was surprised that it was as bad as it was. Again, we didn't plan on hanging out at the house during the day, but if we had chosen to sit on the deck and read a book, it would have been a big distraction. The home smelled a bit musty/damp but after being inside for a while, we became accustomed to it. The bathrooms were very nice.

What a great weekend. Everything was perfect. House was clean. Well decorated. Had all the “extras” we needed. Close to town. And the back deck/fire pit were both perfect! Waking up to mid 60s in July was such a relief. Loved every bit of this weekend trip with our friends. Many thanks to Holly for high level of communication and response.

The owners thought of everything! The home is beautifully decorated, well apportioned, and close to town. The owner was very responsive with any and all inquiries both before and during the stay. Our only disappointment was that it was wet and rainy throughout our visit precluding us from using the fire pit, which was a huge selling feature for us. The only other thing I would say is parking is challenging both above and below the house (the house is situated on a hillside) and traversing the stairs to/from the house with your belongings (especially when wet) can be challenging, again due to the hillside location.

Mountain Laurel was the perfect home for our weekend getaway! Well stocked, beautiful interior design, and good space both indoors and outside. We didn’t have time to take advantage of the fire pit, but the back porch was perfect to enjoy the mountain air and read. Would absolutely return again!
One note: there are many stairs to the parking, so I recognize some guests would find the home difficult to navigate. Parking is also a little difficult with two cars in the dark. We had to do multi-point turns to get our cars situated and out of the road, without much light to guide where the road drops off. With a little more guiding light and reflectors to indicate parking spots, parking would’ve been perfect.

We would definitely rent Mountain Laurel Treehouse again and highly recommend it to others. Beautiful decor, wonderfully organized and perfect setting! Convenient to everything!

Love the Highlands, House OK
Our impression of the house from the pictures online was quite different from what we found. The house is cute but we were expecting a larger place that would be a bit more comfortable for older, but fit, adults. The house is close to the town but it is not a walkable distance on curvy roads. The deck is lovely but there is busy road just below with trucks and traffic going by especially in the morning creating much road noise. The closets did not have hangers; the kitchen is strange and not conducive to much cooking. When we arrived the house was being pressure washed which meant we could not get in at all. The manager did respond when I called, but was not cordial or caring about it. I am not one to write negative reviews; it was not a bad place to stay but we expected something larger and overall more comfortable so it you don't have our expectations it is fine. Note there are cushions for outside chairs in the cabinet on the deck. We found them after a day or two of sitting on hard chairs.

Fun times in the Tree House!!!
We had a wonderful in Highlands and the rental house accommodations were wonderful! You'll need to navigate some stairs but once you get to the living spaces, you'll find them very comfy and clean!! Loved the new appliances and having a barbecue was a nice feature. It was also fun to eat outdoors on the deck under roof and take in the natural wooded setting.

Nice little treehouse near downtown Highlands
The property was very clean and nicely furnished. It was plenty of room for my husband and me. The property manager was super easy to work with. I even had an issue with the cable and both she and the owner came by to deal with it. There is a good bit of sound coming from the main road below. That was the only drawback but overall it was a wonderful property.

The cabin was perfect for our mom & daughter getaway. Very cozy and had everything we needed. The parking was a little tight but it worked. Would definitely stay here again!

We had a great time at MHML, the house is beautiful and it is a great place . We walked to Highlands from there and the location is for nature lovers . We found a lot of welcoming coffee and tea , everything needed for cooking lovers in COVID time , a great book giving a lot of information and very cozy beds with a lot of warm covers for a snowy Christmas . Great deck and grill . Fire-pit place is also great , but you need to be vigilant because there are a lot of trees around it . Plan for a very small fridge, and a lot of stairs to bring things up and down . The parking at the bottom of the house is better overall . Mirror Lake is one of the best locations in Highlands .

Enjoyed the cabin that is well appointed. Very nice deck. The constant spillway water sound was nice. There is some road noise During the day but it not distracting. Our entry code did not work upon arrival but Benny was very responsive and provided a new code right away. That is customer service! We will stay there again.

We really enjoyed this property. We love Highlands in July. It always nice to escape the heat in Georgia. We rented this sweet little house with another couple. It fit our needs perfectly. We enjoyed dinner on the back porch with all the trees it’s like being in a tree house. While there are steep stairs it was not a problem for us. We really enjoyed this property. We love Highlands in July. It always nice to escape the heat in Georgia. We rented this sweet little house with another couple. It fit our needs perfectly. We enjoyed dinner on the back porch with all the trees it’s like being in a tree house. While there are steep stairs it was not a problem for us. We picked this house due to its location to friends who live in mirror lake. It fit the bill for us and we enjoyed everything about this cozy little house. Would definitely rent again.

Mountain Laurel Tree House
This was a well kept, well decorated, charming cottage and you did feel like you were in a tree house. It was a great getaway from COVID quarantine and we used the deck, and the well appointed kitchen. Very clean and well equipped. Very cozy! The bed was very comfortable - we did bring our own pillows as Debra suggested. We hiked, did some fishing and some scenic drives. Glad to see everyone in Highlands observing masks and social distancing. Would recommend this cute cottage. Please note that there are lots of stairs to get to the house as the pictures indicate. Also, there is a washer and dryer in the house but it appears guests are not able to use it anymore. The small fridge drawer worked because of the beverage cooler that was in the kitchen. We brought most of our food and ate at the cottage on the lovely covered deck. Overall, this was the perfect four day respite we needed - being in this beautiful setting did a lot to lift our spirits during this crazy time.

First trip to Highlands
The cottage itself is great. Secluded and a Short mile to downtown. Roomy for just the two of us and as advertised has all quality amenities needed We’re thoughtfully provided. High quality efficiency kitchen. Very comfortable king bed and living area. Central Hvac was perfect and large 55” TV was nice. Deck is large and very nice though it rained quite a lot during week so we only were able to enjoy it a couple of mornings for breakfast under the covered area . You do feel like you are in the trees!!! Parking is very tight and barely allowed room for our 4Runner up top, though there is a lower level area that we did not attempt to use. As noted, access is not good for those with mobility issues as the steps are numerous, steep and were slick due to the rain . Great property for a couples get away or good friends w the separate King rooms

Clean and well appointed house in the Highlands
We really enjoyed our stay in this little house in the Highlands! The house is incredibly clean and well kept. In the time of Covid, the cleanliness was especially reassuring. The property manager was extremely responsive and flexible which we appreciated.
The beds and linens were high quality and each bedroom had an available noise machine. It was rainy during our stay and the sound of the rain on the roof was very relaxing. We liked looking out the big picture window and into the trees as we enjoyed our morning coffee. The living room has a nice setup for watching movies on the big TV in the evenings. The deck has a covered area with a table for dining and very comfortable Adirondack chairs. We didn't take advantage of it this visit, but the house is in a great location that's just a short drive to downtown. Or if you're up for a nice walk, it looks like you could make your way on foot through the Mirror Lake community to downtown to avoid walking on the main road.
This stay was a solid 4.8 stars for us. The road noise, while not terrible, did take away slightly from that 'in the middle of the forest' feeling you otherwise feel when sitting on the back porch. Though there were also very plesant sounds as we could also hear the waterfall sounds from the Mirror Lake dam and enjoyed that the home was so easy to access from the main road. If it was my place, I would add a small counter top microwave that could be stowed away when not in use for things like re-heating leftovers or making microwave popcorn but otherwise there was nothing we needed that was not there.

10th Anniversary
We had a great time celebrating! The house is really cute, very clean (nice linens) and had everything needed for a weekend getaway. Parking is little tricky, and just as an FYI, there’s no way to get to the door without going up or down several steps.

Adorable cottage
We absolutely loved this cottage. It’s well equipped and so comfortable. The beds were very nice with the perfect layers for staying warm and cozy. The kitchen is well done and has all of the essentials in case you decide to eat in. We will absolutely stay here again as it is now one of our favorites in highlands. We visit the are 20 times per year so we are knowledgeable about the rentals in the area.

The property is very clean and nicely decorated. The back deck has the feeling of being in a tree house. The only negative are the steps and road noise, however I would rent again. My wife loved the way the owners remodeled bathrooms.
